BIFF Square(Busan Movie Plaza)

Many movie fans are familiar with the Busan International Film Festival, which screens films and holds various events in cinemas and specific open-air venues every autumn.

Busan's iconic landmark, Busan Tower, is located about a 10-minute walk from Yongdusan Park, where it's located, to BIFF Square. Every year, starting in the first week of October, an international film festival is held here for approximately 10 days. As one of the largest film festivals in Asia, the Busan Film Festival offers tremendous potential for the development of the film industry and has contributed significantly to the advancement of Korean and other cinematic fields. Furthermore, the film market formed here, serving as a film festival expo, has garnered widespread attention worldwide.

Film Street

To expand and develop Korean film culture, establish new cultural and tourist destinations, and strive to become an international cultural and tourist city, thereby boosting public enthusiasm and building a sense of pride, a "Star Street" and "Film Festival Street" have emerged along the approximately 428-meter-long road from the Nampodong Booyoung Theater to the Chungmudong Overpass. From the entrance to the Chungmudong Overpass, the 400-meter-long road features seven cinemas with seven screening rooms and seven or eight theaters, including the Gukdo Theater. When strolling along Movie Street, be sure to look down, as you'll find the handprints of many celebrities right beneath your feet. For example, you can capture the handprints of renowned Chinese directors like Xie Jin and Zhang Yimou, Hou Hsiao-hsien, and Takeshi Kitano. You can also use your camera to capture these handprints. There are also many famous Korean stars, though since many are in Korean, it takes some research to identify them.

Food Paradise

Don't miss the various food stalls at BIFF Square. These include the sweet pancakes, a favorite among Chinese tourists, as well as spicy rice cakes, gimbap, fish cake skewers, dried squid, taiyaki, and roasted chestnuts. The food stalls also feature seasonal variations. Spend a leisurely day at BIFF Square, enjoying a movie, a snack, and admiring the window displays.
