M+ is a visual culture museum and one of the world's largest modern and contemporary visual culture museums. Located in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Kowloon, it opened on November 11, 2021. It collects and displays visual arts, designs, architecture, and moving images from Hong Kong, mainland China, Asia, and around the world from the 20th and 21st centuries! The exterior design of the M+ museum is a simple industrial style, with gray and metallic silver as the main tone and many wooden furnishings. It is visually pleasing and has a simple yet artistic feel. With the view of Victoria Harbour facing the West Kowloon Cultural District, both inside and around the museum offer great photo opportunities. 📷 Photo spot 1: M+ logo When visiting M+, of course, you have to take a photo in front of the M+ logo - this is also the location where most people take their first photos! In fact, there are two locations outside the museum with the M+ logo, not just at the main entrance, but also at the other entrance/exit. Just walk around the outside of the museum to find it! 📷 Photo spot 2: Gray three-dimensional wall There is a large gray three-dimensional wall on the side of M+ with several rows of connected long benches in front of it. Many people sit here to relax and unwind! The gray three-dimensional wall is a great photo spot, giving a simple yet extraordinary feeling. 📷 Photo spot 3: Glass exterior wall reflecting Victoria Harbour view M+ museum faces the Victoria Harbour view of the Hong Kong Island. Walking around the museum, you can admire the stunning Victoria Harbour view from afar! 📷 Photo spot 4: The spiral staircase on the 2nd floor The spiral staircase is located in the lobby on the 2nd floor and is an architectural landmark of Herzog & de Meuron, a Swiss architectural firm. It has a Northern European architectural style. This is also a popular photo spot in the M+ museum, and when it is busy, everyone will queue up! Note: The spiral staircase is only for decoration, and the upper floors were closed. 📷 Photo spot 5: Colorful sun wall outside the exhibition hall on the 2nd floor This is my favorite photo spot! Seeing the colorful sun gives a positive and energetic feeling! 📷 Photo spot 6: Gray three-dimensional grid on the rooftop garden on the 3rd floor This is my second favorite photo spot. It feels like being in a sketch! When I was studying design, I used to draw some three-dimensional squares. Now I can immerse myself in the drawing. XD 📷 Photo spot 7: Sea view staircase location As a visual culture museum, M+ naturally has many visually impactful artworks! For me, the most visually impactful are colors, lines, and shapes. I like the feeling of a complex design with a neat structure! Some people may find visiting museums boring, while others find it interesting. M+ MUSEUM The M+ building mainly consists of three parts, from top to bottom: a tower, a podium, and a base, all interconnected. Viewed from the east or west, the appearance of the tower and podium resembles an inverted three-dimensional capital 'T'. The main exhibition spaces open to visitors are located on the floors of the podium and base. 'The interplay between outdoor and indoor spaces' is the overarching design concept of the M+ building. This is especially true for the public spaces inside, whether it's the abundant daylight brought in through the skylights on the second floor or the semi-outdoor covered spaces underground, all make the indoors feel as if nature is just within reach. Entering the underground lobby from the ground floor entrance, the floor is laid with grey concrete tiles with a wood grain surface. Tall grey concrete columns are distributed in different positions in the lobby, some of which have wood grain like the floor tiles. The lobby is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass, with two openings in the floor that allow one to see the basement; there are also two openings in the ceiling, revealing the skylights of the podium, with natural light penetrating through these two skylights to the underground lobby and the two basement levels. The lowest level of the basement is also known as 'The Found Space'. If you approach the railing of the lobby floor openings and look down, you can see two levels of giant steps crossing The Found Space. The steps are made of concrete, each taller than an adult. These two levels of steps cover the MTR Tung Chung Line and Airport Express tunnels. At the center of the second floor is the atrium, which features a dynamic spiral staircase, flanked by the previously mentioned skylights. The spacious structure allows sunlight to fill the entire space, and even though the atrium has some 'trusses' made of heavy concrete crisscrossing, it still creates an open and bright feeling. The layout of this floor is a bit like an ancient Roman city: usually, there is a civic plaza in the city center, open to all the public. There are two main streets crossing the civic plaza, one running north to south and the other east to west, naturally dividing the entire city into four communities. Each community has its own characteristics, landmarks, and atmosphere. The same is true here at M+.

McNuggets fans must go. At the 'arts pavilion' in the West Kowloon Cultural District, near the M+ Museum, get off at the 'Kowloon Station or Austin Station' of the MTR, walk down and follow the signs to get there. 📱 Make a reservation in advance. 🍔 This is the McNuggets' 40th anniversary exhibition, which ends on August 20th. Although the venue is small, the McNuggets are still very cute, big and small. Free stickers and tattoos are provided, as well as photo stickers. For now, the only souvenirs available are clothes and large McNuggets dolls. 🍔 The set at the entrance is the best-looking, don't miss it.

I was lucky enough to catch the special exhibition of Yayoi Kusama, a world renowned Japanese artist. It was very cool to immerse in her artwork, but some might find it distressing. Visitors are required to purchase tickets for General Admission. Student pass and elderly pass available. I want to travel to Hong Kong to see the latest special exhibition!
