Porta Ticinese name come from the river Ticino. The square where you can find this Port is Piazza IIIV Maggio, the beginning of the Havigli Area.
A market of fresh vegetables and food, really messy and full of people, with a view on the water
Nice street to walk down from Duomo, passing by the Colums of San Lorenzo to the Piazza 24 Maggio....nice restaurants and shopping.
It seems that history always finds a way to realise in artificial expressions and stand on the skin of cities showing its developments, its direction, in the world of men. This was my impression of admiring the Porte Ticinese of Milan, one of the six doors of the city that was oldly locked in bastions, from which the road arrives to Pavia. Today it is characterized by the presence of the neoclassical door of the Cannola. The following year, 1815, the end of the Napoleonic war, was left with a Latin inscription, which translates this phrase: the peace which delivers the peoples.
