Kamezaburo Yamashita and Masayuki Akiyama
Original Text
Do you know "Taishiokaku Ruins"? Taishiokaku is the villa of "Kamesaburo Yamashita", the founder of MOL, and seems to be the place where "Masayuki Akiyama", who was active in the Russo Japanese War, ended. However, there is no appearance and only the signboard explaining it remains. You can see that both of them were from Ehime Prefecture and had a close relationship. It is located on the south side of Odawara Station toward Odawara Castle, so you should stop by while visiting Odawara Castle.
The information board of the former villa of Kamezaburo Yamashita, the founder of Yamashita Kisen (currently Mitsui O.S.K. Lines), stands. This is also the end of Masayuki Akiyama. In March, I was deeply moved because I visited the land related to Masayuki Akiyama in Matsuyama city. Yamashita and Akiyama had a close relationship with each other because of their friendship in the same town.
It is the site of the villa of the founder of Yamashita Mercantile Shipping (Mitsui Mercantile Shipping). There is no building left now. In the Meiji era, there were many separate houses of big names in the political and business world in the Nishisho area, including Odawara, and famous places include "Shizukan-tei" by Nagamasa Kuroda and "Koki-an" by Aritomo Yamagata. Many very large mansions are built in certain areas that are still present.
About 10 minutes walk from Odawara Castle. One place from National Highway 1. Seikan-tei and Odawara Literature Museum are nearby. This is the site of the villa of Mr. Kamezaburo Yamashita, the founder of Yamashita Kisen. Now only a stone monument remains, and it is also the place where Masayuki Akiyama ended.
It is the site of the residence of the founder of M.S.K. Lines, which is also the place where Admiral Masayuki Akiyama, who defeated the Baltic Fleet in the Sea of Japan battle that appears in Ryotaro Shiba's "Clouds on the Slope", died.
