What to do in Yangon
Myanmar used to be a British Colony and the colonial architecture is still maintained by the government to be admired by visitors and locals alike. There is also the Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple which is known for having a statue of a reclining Buddha which is 217 foot long and is one of the largest in Myanmar. In Yangon Lake also called Kandawgyi Lake travellers can feed resident catfish and participate in a quirky local activity and from Kandawgyi Park visitors can admire the enormous golden dragon boat which is situated on the lake. For history enthusiasts, there is Martyrs’ Mausoleum and the Bahadur Shah Zafar Grave which was the resting place of the last Mughal emperor of India and is on Zi Wa Ka Street.
Tip: One of the best modes of transportation in Yangon is through their taxis and the other way is through private buses and trishaws (only used in markets).
