Hotel G Yangon ★★★★

📍 No. 5 Alan Pya Pagoda St, Dagon Township, Kyauktada

"The room was super noisy because of commercial AC units outside the window, but they can’t change the room for us as they told they have “a full booking” - but that’s a total lie - on booking websites they have plenty available rooms. Just don’t want to do their job obviously."

"Excellent experience! The price was good, and the service was outstanding. Definitely recommend it. They even surprised my wife with a cake for her birthday, which was a lovely touch. The view from the window was also nice. I'd definitely consider staying here again if I visit Yangon in the future."

PARKROYAL Yangon

PARKROYAL Yangon ★★★★★

📍 33 Alan Pya Phaya Road, Dagon Township, Kyauktada

"LOCATION Excellent location. In the immediate vicinity of the central train station. A 15-minute walk from Sule, with all its bus lines. A good starting point for exploring the city on foot. Shopping centers are in the immediate vicinity. A 30-minute taxi ride from the airport. SERVICE Excellent welcome and service. Excellent attention at every moment, whether from the housekeeping staff, restaurant staff, concierge, or the gym/spa/pool staff. PS: Please note the $200 USD security deposit required for some reservations. This should be anticipated, although it is payable by credit card (check if this option is worth according to your bank's terms and conditions applied for transaction in Myanmar). ENVIRONMENT Quiet and safe neighborhood. Elegant and comfortable hotel. Harmonious and high-quality layout. Impeccable maintenance. ROOM Superior King Bed Room: Perfect for one person, with a desk area and a small sitting area. Bright. Well laid out. Comfortable. Very good quality bedding. Clean, high-quality linens. Spacious and clean bathroom. Hot water with good pressure. Very good Wi-Fi. Conveniently placed electrical outlets. Excellent lighting. Luggage storage available (for one bag). Pleasant city view. Central air conditioning system. It worked perfectly, but I didn't find the adjustments very user-friendly. BREAKFAST Large dining room. Well-spaced buffet area, open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Elegant dining room. I preferred the back of the room for its quietness, privacy, and comfort. Attentive and courteous staff. A well-stocked and varied buffet. Yet, there was a noticeable difference in quality between the buffet, the kitchen staff, and the buffet presentation between weekdays and weekends. Some of the glass-fronted areas in the dining room were not clean at all: cobwebs, long-standing dust, and general grime. This needs improvement, as it's not what you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber. The buffet occupied most of my mornings; however, I'm not sure I would have wanted to pay an additional $20 USD for it if it wasn't already included in the reservation. FACILITIES *The hotel has all the facilities one would expect for a hotel of this standard. In conclusion, I benefited from a very good price offer through Trip.com, which accurately reflected the hotel's value for money. I was truly delighted with my stay and will keep the PARKROYAL on my list of favorites for a future trip."

Yangon Thanlwin Hotel
8.6 (49 reviews)

Yangon Thanlwin Hotel ★★★★

📍 Shed D, Theingyi Market, Shwedagon Pagoda Rd, Latha Township, Kyauktada

"The Thanlwin meets all expectations. The staff is excellent and caters to every need. There's a Chinese restaurant (very good!), a Western restaurant (very good!), a rooftop pool, and a spa/massage area (very good but a bit pricey!). The prices are reasonable for the hotel's standard, though naturally a bit higher than other hotels. However, the quality is excellent. The food was exemplary, and the massages were extremely good, even if you could get them for half the price in Thailand. The cleanliness of the rooms is exemplary. The room amenities and size can only be described as sensational. I had a bathroom with a corner window and could see the pagoda from one of the top floors. Wonderful. The air conditioning is excellent, and the water pressure in the bathroom is perfect."

"Revisiting this hotel, I noticed the facilities have deteriorated. The hot water issue still hasn't been fixed. The central air conditioning controls have been sealed off and replaced with 'No Smoking' signs, and the new wall-mounted AC unit isn't powerful enough to cool the room properly."

Shangri-La Serviced Apt Yangon

"We had a wonderful time at this apartment in Yangon in September .The room was spacious, clean, and very cozy, with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. I'd especially like to mention the staff – incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and always ready to help. A special thank you to AK for organizing our vacation. He completely organized our sightseeing tour of the city and the trip to the Golden Rock! The friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, including at reception, created a feeling of homey comfort and genuine hospitality. The service was top-notch: from the quick check-in to the smallest details, everything was thought out and organized with great professionalism. This stay opened up a special light to the city, and we know for sure that on our next trip to Yangon, we will definitely stay here."

"The front desk staff were very rude – no eye contact, expressionless faces, and unhelpful attitude. There is no room service available in the morning. I requested a water bottle to be sent to my room at 8:30 AM, but was told that room service only starts after 11 AM and that I should go buy water myself from the convenience store."

"The atmosphere was amazing, truly exuding its historical charm as one of the luxurious hotels in the colonial period, and now tastefully revived as a boutique-esque hotel. Service was great, especially Thinzay and Htet who welcomed me and gave a tour around the room, and explained all services. Ingyin was also amazing in her service helping me with the checkout and trip to the airport. Overall great experience and would recommend for your stay in Yangon."

Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon Hotels in Yangon

Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon

"This hotel used to be a Nikko Hotel in Japan, and it was bought and renovated by Chatrium Hotels, a luxury Thai hotel chain. The plumbing in the rooms is excellent, and the Japanese food is delicious. The caramel pudding at breakfast was fantastic, just like something from a Japanese coffee shop. For lunch, they offer afternoon tea and even a shabu-shabu set for one person. There's also a convenience store inside the hotel, and a large 1STOP supermarket conveniently located near the exit by the pool. Kandawgyi Park is very affordable for foreigners with an entrance fee of just 500 kyats, and it has many restaurants suitable for lunch. The Rakhine Mont Di at the Rakhine seafood restaurant across the street is exquisite. The hotel is located in a very safe area with many embassies, and the staff are all very courteous. It's no wonder there are so many Japanese guests."

Hotel G Yangon ★★★★
"The room was incredibly small, barely enough space to turn around. My request to cancel the reservation was rudely denied by the front desk. After some negotiation, I decided to upgrade my room, but the upgrade fee alone was actually higher than the original room rate I paid when booking. Outside the room, it was either the constant noise of traffic from the main road or the continuous hum of the air conditioning unit, which was truly awful. No bottled water was provided in the room; I had to repeatedly go to the elevator area to get water myself, and the water dispenser was often empty! There was nowhere to smoke inside the hotel, so I had to keep going outside. All in all, this was the absolute worst stay of my entire trip!"

"We had a wonderful time at the hotel. The infinity pool is awesome and we enjoyed how it’s connected to a mall. We found the good at the hotel to be a bit pricey so the mall was a good alternative."

Hotel Balmi ★★★
"The staff was pretty friendly and helpful, but the hotel room was a mess, the bedsheets were stained with yellowish marks, and the bathroom smelled horrible like dried urine. After I complained about the room, the receptionist did help to upgrade me to a ' better ' room, though there was an extra charge which I don't mind. The new room's bedsheets are cleaner and the toilet does not much smell. However, I couldn't continue to stay for the next two days, so I moved to another hotel."

Prestige Residences at Golden Valley by Grand United Hospitality ★★★★
"Nice hotel, a 17-minute walk to Shwedagon Pagoda. Be more selective with your room choice upon arrival, as on the first night, my friend and I were given a ground-floor room with a view of pipes, a single bed, and a narrow toilet. After I requested a change, we were moved to a room one floor up, with two beds and a view of the neighboring rooftops. The staff are friendly and attentive; they'll help with any extra requests and you can store your luggage for free. Breakfast is a bit sparse, no boiled eggs, but otherwise, it's decent for an Asian-style breakfast. Be prepared for crows to swoop in on your food if you step away from the table, though the staff are on guard!"

Green Star Hotel Yangon ★★★
"The hotel staff are all wonderful people, truly embodying the spirit of hospitality. Room 611 is comfortable and features large windows. While the drainage in the shower wasn't quite perfect, everything else was excellent. The rooftop breakfast area offers an open, airy atmosphere that is very pleasant. The dining staff served us with cheerful smiles every day, and I looked forward to chatting with them each morning. Although the building is aging, the staff’s wonderful attitude more than makes up for it. In Myanmar, it is quite difficult for foreigners to book Grab taxis, but the reception staff patiently arranged them for me and even saw me off until I was safely in the car. That kindness is a big reason why I continued to love Myanmar right up to the very end. The country is currently facing very difficult times, yet shops in Yangon remain lively, and the people are as kind as ever. I pray for the country to regain stability as soon as possible. Thank you!"

"This is a new hotel located downtown. The rooms are quite spacious, at least 50 square meters. It even has a bathtub, and it's the only place I stay when I'm in Yangon. There's someone at the front desk who speaks a little Japanese. The breakfast is also good!"
