GGuest UserThe boss was very enthusiastic. I contacted him one day in advance and waited for us at the station early the next morning. The accommodation was close to the East Gate. We said we were going to Crescent Lake and Mingsha Mountain. The boss took the initiative to drive us to the Middle Gate, saying that we could save 20 yuan on the shuttle bus fare. The next day, we signed up for a tour group to go out and play. The boss also sent us to the boarding point early in the morning. The boss was afraid that it would be inconvenient to go back after the Crescent Lake Music Festival, so he also came to pick us up, making our travel very convenient. The accommodation environment is also very good, and the steamed bun for breakfast is particularly large.

AAnonymous UserThe best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly â from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldnât have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile!
Itâs worth mentioning that the guesthouseâs architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. Itâs located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement.
On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesnât feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didnât lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!
GGuest UserTake the kids for a change of scenery! This B&B in Dunhuang is perfect for bringing kids. Any photo you take will turn it into a life-like portrait!
1. The rooms have a unique design, and I love the overall style. The bed in the family room is huge, and my two adults and two children slept very comfortably. The first-floor exterior view is beyond stunning, and any photo you take is a masterpiece. It feels so luxurious. The room is clean and well-lit. It's a perfect vacation for kids in Dunhuang!
2. I was initially worried about smells and other issues with the new renovations, but after arriving, I realized that this wasn't an issue at all. Full marks!
3. We arrived during dinner time, and unexpectedly, the B&B had food available. We ordered a few dishes, and they were surprisingly delicious. I recommend the fish and the big plate chickenâincredibly delicious!
4. The hotel's amenities, including amenities and appliances, are all very complete. They even have a capsule coffee machine. For someone like me who works in an office every day, daily coffee is a must! âď¸ This is truly a must-have! đ
5. Staying here with children is hands-free; they can play in the pool and sandpit all day without leaving the house!
This stay was truly wonderful. I'll be back!

GGuest UserOverall, I'm giving this hotel five stars, but it's not for everyone.
This place is for people seeking a slice of life...It promotes a slow pace and to really understand the hotels value you need to actually spend time there. Also looks really ideal of families - lots of area for kids to roam without getting into trouble.
If you just want a bed to crash in while spending most of your time outside, don't stay here.
Also if you want the most Instagrammable hotel around? Yes, book it.
Pros:
Amazing view, super peaceful. The layout feels like a camp you walk out and you're right in the common area, easy to relax. I came back late one night and heard absolutely nothing for a long time.
Service is genuinely 5-star; they really care about your experience. Some previous reviews mentioned they staff attitude is bad - I confirm this is either fixed or incorrect. Maybe I don't expect people to pamper me 24/7. There are plenty of staff and if you chat to them or make a request they will 100% help.
Rooms are cleaned well.
Some previous reviews said the aircon was bad, but mine worked great, and hot water never ran out, temperature is easy to control. Also, people said no food delivery - wrong. I got delivery even during a sandstorm, no issues.
Taxis and Didi come to the hotel fine, about 12 kuai from the center.
Cons:
The bathroom is extremely small. If you're over 177cm / 73kg or have a broad build, I can't recommend you stay here.
I kept bumping into walls, and the shower curtain stuck to my skin mid-shower â my biggest letdown.
The room gets hot, stuffy, and smelly if you turn the aircon off during summer days. I made that mistake once. I'd suggest the hotel install sensors to manage temperature or air out rooms when guests are out.
Breakfast is simple â looks and tastes fine, but gets repetitive and you can't choose from a menu.

AAnonymous UserIf life is a never-ending journey, then the camping trip at the Desert Star Hotel is undoubtedly a highlight of my journey.
When I arrived at the campsite, the first thing that attracted me was the unique tent house. Unlike regular tents, the top of the tent is made of special transparent materials, like a huge viewing platform, which builds a bridge of communication between me and the vast galaxy. As night fell, I couldn't wait to lie on the soft bed, and when I looked up, the bright starry sky was presented to me without reservation. The stars twinkled, like gems inlaid on the black sky, beautiful as a dream. At that moment, the world seemed to press the mute button, and the impetuousness and noise in my heart were instantly soothed. The unique beauty of this quietness made me intoxicated.
It is worth mentioning that the hotel staff is very considerate. After placing the order, the customer service guy at the front desk added our contact information and gave us some local travel tips, which saved us a lot of time. From the warm reception at check-in, to the careful guidance during the activities, to the warm greetings at night, every detail made people feel cared for. They not only provided me with thoughtful service, but also made me feel the simplicity and enthusiasm of the desert people.
This desert camping trip not only allowed me to appreciate the magnificent scenery of the desert, but also experienced exciting and interesting activities, which became an eternal and beautiful memory in my heart.
SSimona F.I loved the Courtyard B&B. The rural but very chic style. My room was generous, furnishing in the same traditional style. Clean throughout
The reception area very attractive and provides nice secluded spaces for relaxing- working in my case) under Bamboo trees and mandala decorated glasses of the ceiling. Very peaceful.
I very much appreciated the presence of a kittens with mum and a little doggie which I perceived like mascotte of the place. They were very well maintained and cared of. The stuff is very nice and helpful and we were able to understand each others in some way. I highly recommend this accomodation both for holiday and work.

GGuest UserWe really enjoyed our stay here. From the very first moment we entered the home stay we felt welcomed. Every day we received a delicious fruit plate. The breakfast was really delicious as well with lots of fresh cooked vegetables. Our girls loved the friendly little white dog (they named her Snowy). The host family suggested us things to do in the area and even drove us to the entrance. The room was exactly like at the picture, cozy and clean. We are sad that we could not stay longer but we definitely want to come back one day!

GGuest UserThis guesthouse is truly unique! Each room is named after one of the twelve zodiac signs, with designs that blend local flair and astrological elements. In the evenings, you can go stargazing, with options for an indoor lecture and actual observation from the rooftop. The instructor mentioned that summer is the best season for stargazing, and if you want to spot your own zodiac constellation, it's best to visit around two months before or after its designated month. They even gave us wishing bottles for our own zodiac signs, which we filled with sand from Mingsha Mountain the next day to take home!
The host is incredibly warm and helpful; you can ask her about local tourism, car rentals, and more â she's very considerate. Breakfast is different every day, with a thoughtful and nutritious selection. There's also an adorable cat who loves to 'accompany' you during meals, often sitting on a chair. She gets so happy if you share half an egg yolk with her every morning! She also recently had three tiny, adorable kittens!
The guesthouse features a classroom and a spacious, bright lobby, making it feel especially suitable for study tour groups. We initially planned to stay two nights but loved it so much we extended for another night. The village atmosphere is quiet and comfortable, and it's about a 15-minute taxi ride to Shazhou Night Market and around 20 minutes to the train station, so transportation is very convenient.
Highly recommend for family trips and educational tours!

CChengchenger26Bringing my family to Dunhuang, đď¸ it felt like a dream stepping into Dunhuang. We stayed in a desert RV, nestled in the golden sands, a dream of constant temperature. The room facilities were complete and comfortable, the bedding was cozy, and we had personalized butler service. Only guests are allowed inside, making it very quiet and spacious. We had a whole section of the desert to ourselves, enjoying the joy of having an entire golden sand sea â it's absolutely a stunning spot for photos.
Life experience +1: Camping in the desert. It was an amazing experience! They offered complimentary ATV dune buggy rides, which were thrilling and novel. We could slide down the sand dunes for free, and the kids had a blast! Highly recommend!

GGuest UserWe came to Dunhuang with our children, looking forward to it for a long time. The weather was really hot, but it didn't affect our determination to go out at all. We booked this B&B and it was very comfortable. The price was really cheap and the cost performance was really high. This price for the summer vacation was really conscientious. The B&B had thoughtful service. You can consult any questions and they will answer them seriously. The B&B is very close to the scenic spots and it is very convenient to travel.
