A small B&B close to the Lake. Trains run frequently along the track between the Hotel and the lake. There are about 38 rooms over 4 floors. The Hotel has a small ski room in the basement with boot warming racks and also in the basement is a, free to use, Sauna with shower and a relaxation area with complimentary towels, open 4:30-8:30pm each evening. There is no lift so not ideal for those less mobile. Rooms vary in size and occupancy. Room 32 on the top floor is very small Twin, with slimline beds and limited storage. OK for one person, but would be extremely small for 2. There is a TV in the room and there is a side view of the lake from the windows (no balcony). I slept with the windows open and the the noise from the trains didn’t wake me. The bathroom was spotlessly clean (March 2023) and the shower was quite powerful with shower gel provided. Tissues, loo roll, Liquid soap and towels are also provided (1 bath & 1 Hand/Face. For guests staying Saturday - Saturday, towels are changed once per week on Wednesdays. There is a charge of you require a more frequent change. Rooms are cleaned & beds made, most days. Breakfast, served 07:30-09:30, is a typical selection of meats and cheese slices, soft cheese triangles, eggs (alternating hard boiled & scrambled), tomatoes & cucumber. There is a variety of breads available (with toaster) cereals, milk, juice, yoghurt, Oranges & Apples, Jam and chocolate spread. You can make your own Waffles and there area variety Tea’s and a coffee machine (free, ignore the charge sign at breakfast). Room vacation on day of departure is 10:00am.

Just left after a 3 night stay here , the host Marco & specially his wife GITI ( hotel named after her ) are a fabulous hardworking couple host . Good size rooms , although the attached bathroom was a little small for my comfort. Room was very efficiently & quickly cleaned up when we were in breakfast by the cleaning lady GITTI ( not the host though) Breakfast is basic Wat one would want & they may even try to address if one has special requests ( as I requested for white slice bread for toast ) which wasn’t there otherwise. Good fruits , juice , cereals . One may please note since it’s not a full fledged hotel & run by a couple , one may be well advised to not have sky high expectations to enjoy the hospitality, but we were more than happy . Fabulous service , clean super clean rooms and have not seen in many hotels , but one can use their USB cord to charge their phones & gadgets & trust me it’s so very helpful when u don’t have converters that r required for local use . Also location is a little away from main zell am see & the lake . We walked up to the lake on the 1st evening & got lost on our way but for a humble soul ( Sylvia ) who very kindly dropped us off in her car for which we very thankful. Once again thank you marco & GITTI .

Visited the hotel with girlfriends on a long weekend ski break. The hotel is wonderfully situated with lake views at every window. We had a twin room, with a separate shower and toilet. There was a lot of additional furniture in the room, including a desk and chair. We did a bit of furniture removal with the help of housekeeping and made the room perfect for two of us sharing. Towels and sheets where changed on the 3rd day. Buffet breakfast with hot and cold options set us up for the days skiing. A free shuttle to the closest lift (it’s not far but all uphill so don’t try it in ski boots) went every 30 mins in the morning. Dinner options are chosen in the morning, with 3 courses and a salad bar. On Sunday night there was a buffet style dinner, with lots of variety. They don’t offer a post ski hot drink or cake as some hotels do. There was soup on offer. However there is a well stocked tea/coffee station in the room and lots of places to buy snacks from as you come back to the hotel. The spa and fitness area was in the basement but again overlooking the glorious lake vista. Swimsuits are optional in the steam/sauna so may not suit us reserved Brits! The ski area is fantastic and we where blessed with fresh snow each day and all 3 ski areas can be accessed from the shuttle bus drop off.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is a family run facility that provides top quality service and makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The team are so friendly and helpful and always have a smile. The spa and wellness centre is extremely spacious and well equipped with a variety of saunas ranging in temperatures, to an infra red room and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The gym has state of the art equipment and is easy to navigate. We went skiing and the rooms are much better than any other place I have stayed in the past for being spacious. The food was superb, with so much choice at breakfast and dinner. Also catering for vegan and vegetarians. The hotel itself was modern and welcoming and it was nice the Segl family who own it came and chatted with all guests. I will definitely return. Thank you for an amazing stay.
Grand Hotel Zell am See

This hotel is fabulous. I have just experienced the 25 min back massage including neck shoulders arms and hands, almost fell asleep. My husband had the 50 min all over massage and he hurts in places he never knew he had. She had her elbows in his back at one point.. his first massage and didn't know he could ask for it to be more gentle 😂 This hotel is amazing, the food alone is out of this world, I'm a very plain eater but I tried everything and loved it. 5 courses and unlimited salads. The pool was almost empty during the day and after a week i can now swim and also float, I've tried for many years. The tap water is better than bottled and chilled♡ The grand spa has steam rooms and saunas, hot stone beds and a view to die for even on the cloudiest of days, all bedrooms have either a mountain or lake view. 5 minutes from the slopes and a must for the non skier for some pampering relaxation and selfcare, first visit certainly not our last ♡ All staff speak very good english and help in anyway they can to make your stay first class. I cannot fault any part of our stay, even dipped in the lake it was minus 13 outside. Exhilarating. There is a railroad crossing outside the hotel and I found myself waiting for the barrier to go down then up before I crossed 🛤🚂 I booked the mountain tour, we had a superb guide which we booked via the hotel, 4 cablecars later I was 3028m above the clouds in the scorching sun (january) with views to die for. He was very informative and I found out alot about the mountains, things like the trees at ground level can't survive after a certain height and different trees grow as it gets higher. The trees at the top have a cut off point where no trees can survive. The mountain goats turn black in winter to absorb the heat and whilst I was filming from the cable car we managed to see one. Just a couple of things matteus spoke about. Please experience Grand Hotel Zell am See if you can. It was on my bucket list and i didn't even know. Thankyou everyone for making our stay memorable ♡
Hotel St. Georg

My apologies for being so late in reviewing this hotel. We, a group of 4 friends from Waterford , Ireland stayed there in January 2024. My friends not having not previously experienced Austrian culture nor Austrian ski resorts were blown away by our week stay at the St Georg. We arrived approximately 8pm and we were met by the ever friendly Danielle who checked us in and made us all feel so welcome. Breakfasts as you would expect was as a typical European Buffett and the atmosphere in the dining area always relaxed, cordial and professional. I was late one morning, but was afforded a last minute cup of coffee to wake me up. 😂 Proximity to the nearest gondola. Walk downhill for 5 mins or go the gondola and get the Schillerstraße bahn bus up to the middle station. Just follow the river directly across from the hotel. You won’t get lost. 😉 This hotel has everything . Good food, super staff, swimming pool, sauna but most of all this family knows how to run a business and continued success to them. Having been in Austria for many years skiing, this Hotel was definitely one of my favourites. Oh and don’t forget to say Hello to Karl at the bar. Looks like a WWE wrestler but is in fact a friendly giant. Thanks guys. Hopefully see ye next year.
