This was one of the best yha we have stayed at. The room was bare but that is to be expected. The amenities, by contrast, were excellent: Two well appointed kichens with nice pans and plenty of space; A roof area and multiple living room areas; an herb garden and plenty of recycling areas; and the games and TV area looked brand new and not old and worn out . The kids enjoyed it and so did we. Highly recommended.
The place next to sea side actually good location, but the area is not the best one, it may get creepy in the night, showering facfilities need improvemnt, wifi good and working, I would not repeat this place unless I have to, but not bad place at all, good people and helpful people it is just for me

I licked the rooms and it was nice to have separate bathrooms. Everything was great except the kitchen. This is of course due to other guests not cleaning up after themselves but in other hostels this is the same and I have never experienced it like this. I have a feeling that the cleaners only do a little bit so there is always one part of the kitchen/dinning area messy and gross. Other than that still would recommend because of the nice rooms and good breakfast (although again very messy).
Reminiscent of English pubs and Australian country pubs. Perfect for a solo traveller needing somewhere for a night to restock and recharge.
Staff are can-do and will communicate everything you need to know without being invasive at all.
The pub is busy downstairs and with good reason. The menu is diverse enough for most appetites. The common room absorbs sound and sports channels on.
Sticks to basics and succeeds. Other guests clearly get it too as all shared areas are kept clean and safe without any need for posting rules everywhere.
Definitely on my Melbourne list.

Female room had private curtains across the beds and individual power points and bed lights. Room was unexpectedly quiet. Staff were efficient at check in. Shared bathrooms were clean. Perfect location.

The biggest and perhaps the only major problem with this hostel is the noise from within the building. Great noise reduction for outside activities, but the nature of the building is flawed, so the amount of noise you will hear from the common room open corridor which every room faces is very loud.
Other than this, it is quite a good hostel, one of the better ones you could stay at. I was in a private room which had some decent amenities, however the pillows were quite lumpy haha.
The other guests were quite disrespectful of rules unfortunately, not considering others in the kitchen with cleanliness etc.
Staff are 10/10 amazing! I want to take them all home with me 😂
Great location just a five minute drive to Woolies. The room is very clean with plenty of supplies like plates, bowls, tablewares, cotton swabs... The owner is pretty kind as well. Affordable and quality accommodations.
The manager was very nice, the hotel rooms are located at 2/F but he is willing to help with the luggage carry even without request.
The hotel location is fantastic, only 20-30 mins to Melbourne central (one tram only after you get the skybus from airport as well).
supermarket, restaurant, cafe, gelato shop around as well.
Clean, big room, nice toilet&restroom, nice kitchen, nice laundry.
Highly recommend that hotel, definitely my priority choice if I come to Melbourne again.
The only bad side is the room at 2/F that you have to carry your stuff up and down if you buy lots of things. And watch out especially in rainy day as it’s a metal stair.

Great for stopover or budget conscious traveller as location is great, near railway station, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. Well managed but apparently little to no interaction from staff. Believe it would be great if staff is more proactive in nurturing relationships with guests so as to give it more life and meaning. Just a suggestion but overall, value for money.
When you enter the hostel, the reception and entrance are the impressions that make the difference. The hostel is clean and the reception is bright and friendly.
I was surprised to see a bar on the first floor, and they said they were having a party.
I was there on Monday and Tuesday, and it was my birthday that day, and it was a crazy bingo party. Thanks to that, I had fun celebrating my birthday in a foreign country.
There were also new things because I was the only Asian.
The kitchen was clean and not crowded, which was nice.
On the other hand, the cooking space was relatively small.
The room was clean and it was comfortable and nice because I opened it on my mobile phone.
In other places, you have to swipe your card 3-4 times to enter.
It was a blessing to have a bathroom in the room. However, there was only one bathroom, so it was a game of wits.
The most important thing is that Kildavich is very close, and there is also Woolworths nearby, which is nice.
Very Good

SSRuss83I stayed in Box Hill motel between 3rd of Nov'23 - 5th of Nov'23. My husband and I arrived at Box Hill motel around 12-1pm. We were so exhausted as we took turn driving from Sydney - Melbourne. We drove from Sydney past midnight. Upon calling if we would be let in early, surprisingly it is allowed. Otherwise we would have slept in the car until check-in time if the room isn't ready yet. We got room no.1 and it was very clean. I didn't use the towel as I prefer to use my own towel, my husband also use his own towel.
One of the hanging towel though had a snot on it and I put that towel aside despite we didn't use it. There were 3x plates in total and one of the plate was dirty and I assumed previous guest must have used this 1 plate and didn't wash it but instead just slipped it in between the clean plate. We used 2x plates for ourselves but I washed the 3x plates myself.
Great Wifi speed too as I was able to complete a little bit of work from Room no.1.
My parents always taught me to appreciate and respect people's places. Upon checking out, I saw Carol and OMG, she is so kind, friendly, down to earth and helpful. She was busy rolling people's luggage to their room. I remember my father always taught me the great businessman is not the one who always wanted to be served but the one who knew how to serve others first. There's a saying about ”servant leadership”. A great leader know how it feels to be at the bottom to observe, learn and serving others as well as better appreciate the top and experience various roles to understand the duties and responsibilities of each roles.
THANK YOU Box hill motel team and Carol too for allowing us to stay at your beautiful clean and tidy place. We were able to sleep very soundly, hope nobody can hear us snoring :)
I highly recommend Box Hill motel, Melbourne to anyone on a trip to Melbourne.

GGuest UserConveniently located, competatively priced and great pick up and drop off service to/from airport. Clean room and friendly staff. Nothing to complain about.
GGuest UserDuring our Great Ocean Road trip, we stayed one night in Apollo Bay. This hotel was very easy to find; you can spot it shortly after driving into Apollo Bay. It offers an underground car park, making parking very convenient. There's a large supermarket just a few minutes' walk away. Our room was very spacious, clean, and well-maintained.
GGuest UserWe stayed two nights. Even though we had booked a standard queen room, they gave us a family room on the ground floor because I had requested it due to a physical problem making climbing stairs difficult. I appreciated this. We discovered a bit of a problem with ants in the room. We had killed about a dozen of these when I reported it to management. They immediately sprayed around all the entry points, and provided a full can of insect spray. I'm glad to say we only found one any after that during the remainder of our stay. We appreciated the free continental breakfast, which had a reasonable variety of cereals, fruit toast as well as white and wholemeal, a range of fruit, yoghurt, and different types of milk, even soy! While there were some different types of tea available, we were disappointed that there was no coffee machine on which we could make even an espresso! Pod machines are not expensive, and far better than the disgusting instant sachets. We instead had to go out to a coffee shop. Apart from that, we enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom excellent, and had we wanted a swim, the pool and spa looked very inviting.
GGuest UserWe had a great stay at the Waterfront motor inn! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. It’s conveniently located right in the center of town, yet it’s also very quiet, so we were able to rest well. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which made the experience even better. We had a wonderful time here and will definitely come back again!
MMinah Goes AroundHad a pleasure stay with sandpiper. Was surprised to see the reception office was closed but all the instructions were there. The team wrote names on an envelope and further instructions inside the envelope.
We went during the start of winter of our Great Ocean Road trip and homggggggg the wind!!!!! I kid you not - I joked to my husband for bringing winter jacket. There is no mercy! Haha. So I had to get a down jacket from the mall before the start of my journey.
Our room was closest to the reception but the carpark area was the other end of the venue (not that far lah) but with 2 huge luggages and 2 carry ons, it was a tad hassle ah.
Heating was slow and soft - bo pian ah. Rather have it then none at all cos at night, its really cold sia. No joke. The cold air from outside like hang out outside our room. The nozzle from the hair dryer broke. It wasn’t me ok. Luckily I wear hijab so just make it dry can liao.
Got bowl, plates, cups, kettle, fridge, tv (not smart). Basic for your short stay.
That’s all! Will come back to stay here if I come here again (:
Oh! They do have diy laundry from 0800-2000. Never try cos no time.
