The hostel is really close to Kyoto Station, about a five-minute walk, and there are supermarkets, malls, and plenty of restaurants nearby. They have check-in guides in Chinese, the entire hostel feels quite new, it's clean and tidy, and there's an elevator. The common area even has a Nintendo Switch. Plus, you can store your luggage for free after check-out.

The location was great because Kiyomizu Ji Temple, Kodai Ji Temple and Kennin Ji Temple were very close and I could walk from the morning! The room is very fashionable and recommended for couples. However, there is a difficulty, the wall is very thin, and the conversation in the next room can be heard clearly. As for amenities, you need to buy or bring in because there are no toothbrushes, hand soaps, pajamas, etc. It is very satisfying to see it as a private room dormitory! However, I thought that I wanted a laundry space if I treated the dormitory, and the facilities are this evaluation.

Good location, walkable to metro station and some tourist attractions. Provides shoe rack and slippers to change upon entering, has lift to access all floors. Shared kitchen and common area is spacious and comfortable, provides kitchenware, stove, cutleries, coffee and tea. Toilets and bathroom are clean and equipped with hairdryer. There is storage under bunk bed but need to prepare your own lock and key. Has airconditioning in the room. Paid washer and dryer available.

Below average room for the price. Location was great just a few mins walk to central area and subway station. Good food spots around. The room was literally just a bed- no wardrobe, shelves, mirror etc. one charging port for the whole room. There was two hooks on the wall which kept falling down- the place needs serious updating. Walls were paper thin- could hear everything in the next rooms and was woken up several times by people in rooms and in corridor. Bathrooms were not clean, wallpaper falling from walls, bathrooms didn’t seem attended to- left dirty for some time. One shower for the whole floor of private rooms and dorms- it was small and very outdated. Loud palettes of wood at entrance to floor unnecessary- just creates noise and shoe storage area damp and musty smelling. No ventilation in rooms so also musty in there too. Low doorways- if you’re tall this will be a problem. Luggage storage room crowded, badly organised and not supervised by staff. No staff manning reception for long periods of time during the day. Check in 4pm is very late and inconvenient. Book somewhere else- you’ll get nicer for cheaper.

Cute place to stay in a spacious mixed dorm. The dorm was well designed with lockers and lots of small shelves next to the bed plus a sink in the room. Bed was a little hard but not terrible. Found the self check-in process very convenient and clearly explained, you have to pay city tax and any extra charges separately before check-out, which you can do online with a qr code or cash if you have the exact amount. Nice to experience a more traditional building in Kyoto. The free rice porridge and teas and coffee was a great bonus. Plenty of convenience shops nearby and right near Kyoto Station. Overall a really relaxing and cosy place to stay!

This hostel in Kyoto that only accepts girls is the first stop of my solo trip to Kansai. I stayed here for 6 consecutive nights. The B&B is located between Sanjo and Shijo, near Kawaramachi Nishiki Market, and is within walking distance. It is close to the subway, bus station, Hankyu Line and Keihan Line. There are 7-Eleven convenience stores and various restaurants around, making travel and shopping very convenient. This is a warm and cozy B&B with a very human touch, run by a warm and friendly young Japanese couple who can speak a little Chinese! There is also a young girl from Taiwan working in the store, she is friendly and cute. I would like to give a super five-star praise. This place is not only clean and comfortable by Japanese standards, but also considers the details of the guests everywhere. The public toilet shower room is fully equipped with toiletries. There is free coffee and ice cubes in the public lounge area on the first floor. , hot water, various tea bags and snacks, a leg massager, and various Kyoto travel brochures and materials. There is a refrigerator and a microwave. The homestay has two floors and can accommodate 12 travelers. There is a shower room and two toilets on the first and second floors respectively. Because I stayed for 6 consecutive nights, the landlady changed my bedding once, and I could use bath towels and shower towels for free every day. I had a wonderful and unforgettable trip in Kyoto! If I visit again, I will still choose to stay here.

This is a very unique hotel. It has no central heating, making it impossible to sleep in the evenings and at night. There's air conditioning, which is supposed to replace the heating, but it's not up to the task. One downside is that the toilet and sink are located outside. Washing up in the morning requires all the strength you need to go outside in November in light clothing and wash your face with cold water. I didn't book food at this hotel, although they served watery rice porridge in the morning, which we ate reluctantly. One positive is that the building is 100 years old, making it truly the most traditional accommodation available at a low cost. However, be prepared to pay for ALL necessary services and amenities. Towels and face towels are extra, as are dental supplies. I definitely won't be returning to this hotel again when visiting Kyoto.

タビノモリ 2024.12.08
It's a 6-minute walk from Demachiyanagi Station, and there are convenience stores and supermarkets nearby, so it's a good location. There is a kitchen in the shared space on the second floor, which is very convenient for those who want to cook for themselves. There are also free drinks, manga, and books. The third floor is a dormitory space, and it is air-conditioned and clean, but in the case of mixed-gender accommodation, the upper bunk beds are not completely separated, so there is no privacy, which is a bit tough, especially for women. The lower bunk beds have curtains that can be closed, so I think they're fine... There are showers and toilets on both the second and third floors. It's good when it's not crowded, but if it's crowded, it may be a hassle to wait in line. There is a curfew, and you can't go out until 6:00 in the morning, so it may be a bit inconvenient for those who want to go out early in the morning.

This is the worst accommodation experience I’ve had during my trips to Japan. In the past, my visits to Japan have always been perfect—truly a paradise for travelers from around the world. However, lately, I’ve noticed a surge of Indian people in places like convenience stores and hotel front desks, which has led to some negative experiences for me along the way. I usually brushed them off as minor, but this hotel stay was unacceptable and I have to speak up. At check-in, the Indian front desk staff was indifferent and dismissive, which already set a bad tone. Then, when I went to bed around midnight, I discovered that the room only had two flat bedsheets—no duvet cover (comforter cover) and no pillowcases at all. It was very late, so I didn’t want to disturb anyone by calling reception again, and I ended up sleeping uncomfortably without proper bedding—yet another hassle caused by the Indian staff. If the hotel management sees this review, please seriously reconsider hiring Indian staff. They are ruining Japan’s reputation and its world-famous service industry! I hope this feedback helps improve things for future guests.

KKyoto GodFUGA STAY, true to the meaning of its name “fuga” (elegance and serenity), is a refined and peaceful hideaway tucked within the heart of Kyoto. I personally love hotels that are hidden away from the main road yet still extremely convenient—just a 3 to 5-minute walk from Omiya Subway Station and numerous Kyoto city bus stops. If you’re into cycling or using e-scooters, there’s a Luup rental station right in front of the hotel. The room is spacious and very comfortable for a solo traveler. It comes with two double beds that you can easily move together to form a super king-size bed. The bathroom is also large, with no sense of tightness. The front desk staff speaks Japanese and Chinese, so communication is smooth and easy. Honestly, I’m hesitant to praise FUGA too much—if too many people discover it, the price might go up! P.S. Just around the corner is Tendō Shrine, only a 2-minute walk away. It felt like a beautiful encounter by fate.

GGuest UserThe boss will make free breakfast every morning and provide it from 7:00 to 9:00. Then the boss also has a bathhouse. If the guests staying here want to go, he will take them there for free at 9 o'clock every night and bring them back at 10 o'clock. Chai Chai It’s so cute, all I can say is that I love it so much 😭 I highly recommend it!

MMelany JiangThe room was very clean. The Japanese-style single room facing the street was quite noisy, so on the second day, I paid the difference to switch to a family room, which was very quiet. Across from the hotel is a large supermarket, which makes shopping very convenient. The room comes with a kitchen, and there are pots, pans, and dishes available, so you can cook your own meals. If there are two or more people, I recommend choosing the family room. If you're traveling alone, I suggest not staying at this hotel, as the Japanese-style single room faces the street and the traffic at night is really loud.

LLeben.WanThe hotel's facilities are quite good, though the only minor drawback might be the poor soundproofing. There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, offering convenient access to major attractions in Kyoto. The subway station is about a 20-minute walk away. As for the amenities, the hotel is well-equipped with individual shower rooms and toilets on each floor. The washing machine and lounge area are located on the fifth floor. Please note that the hotel does not have an elevator. If you have large luggage, you can inform the front desk to arrange a room on a lower floor.

GGuest UserAs a solo traveler, I highly recommend this hostel for its exceptional quality and value. I stayed in a private room for just one night, but the experience was memorable. The location is convenient, with easy access to transportation and nearby attractions, although it’s not the most centrally located spot in Kyoto. What truly stood out was the service—staff members were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and eager to help with any needs or questions. The amenities were also top-notch, including clean and comfortable facilities, well-maintained common areas, and thoughtful extras that made my stay even more enjoyable. If I ever return to Kyoto, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose this hostel again. It’s a perfect option for solo travelers looking for comfort, convenience, and excellent service.
