To be set early, there are very few hotels near Kyoto, clean, beds are good, convenient around, eating and drinking, there are public bathrooms, the whole hotel is several floors, the price is OK, but when there are many people, you can't book a room. It is recommended to book it at once.

The hotel was great, with the nice authentic rooms and common spaces. Sleeping on the futon was actually pretty comfortable, so we enjoyed it a lot! But it would be better if some accessories (like towels and toothbrushes) were included in the price in advance, so we wouldn’t have to bother counting how much we need to give extra while checking out.

This hostel's rooms are located on the first floor, making them ideal for those traveling with large luggage. The rooms are spacious and have their own private toilet, though bathrooms are shared with other guests. Delicious porridge is provided each morning, adding a warm touch. A washing machine is also available (600 yen) for extended stays. Located within a local wet market, the hostel offers a quiet and authentic local atmosphere, offering an ideal combination of convenience and comfort.

My stay here was fine! 15min bus ride from Kyoto station was very handy. And it’s right around the corner from Kiyamizu-dera temple; a popular tourist spot, and a great place to hit if you haven’t already got it on your itinerary. The only real issue - which is colouring my review right now - is that I got pretty awful sleep here. Top bunks don’t have a ‘roof’ covering the bed, so light and noise is more disruptive than usual. Basic facilities, nice common areas on the first two floors for those feeling social, and has a laundry and dryer (which was great for me needing to do two weeks of travel laundry, LOL). In any case, would recommend! Just be aware of your sleep.

Arrived at 10 which still not the time for check in, but the staff understand my situation and very nicely let me check in earlier and bring me to my room, so i dont have to rush and check in on 3 pm. Really appreciate theres lots of restrooms, the only problem is the room is a bit muggy. Other than that, its really nice

Very satisfied with my last stay, clean and comfortable This time, I felt that the dishwashing staff on the second floor were really busy. I didn't dare to stay for a long time. I felt like they were unhappy. They were like this at night and during the day when the food was being collected... I just happened to be in a good mood. Yeah..but it’s awesome even if the bowl is too loud and the cup is not broken👍

KKyoto GodFUGA STAY, true to the meaning of its name “fuga” (elegance and serenity), is a refined and peaceful hideaway tucked within the heart of Kyoto. I personally love hotels that are hidden away from the main road yet still extremely convenient—just a 3 to 5-minute walk from Omiya Subway Station and numerous Kyoto city bus stops. If you’re into cycling or using e-scooters, there’s a Luup rental station right in front of the hotel. The room is spacious and very comfortable for a solo traveler. It comes with two double beds that you can easily move together to form a super king-size bed. The bathroom is also large, with no sense of tightness. The front desk staff speaks Japanese and Chinese, so communication is smooth and easy. Honestly, I’m hesitant to praise FUGA too much—if too many people discover it, the price might go up! P.S. Just around the corner is Tendō Shrine, only a 2-minute walk away. It felt like a beautiful encounter by fate.

GGuest UserThis hotel has a relatively spacious room compared with others. We were assigned to a room facing the street which could be noisy at night with motorcycles roaring by. However, we were quite okay with the noises probably due to how exhausted we were during the days. We like the conveniences of having a huge super market across from the hotel and a small kitchen inside the room. For several nights, we bought groceries at the supermarket and make balanced meals at the hotel. Since I am pre-diabetic with food restrictions , this option of preparing simple meals for myself was a big advantage Also, the hotel had washing machines and dryers at the first floor. We just brought clothes enough for three days and do laundry there. This hotel was located at the “lower Kyoto area,” closer to Arashiyama area. There was a bus stop right outside the hotel. To navigate the bus system in Japan, you have to remember that they drove on the right side and the bus stops were on the south side of the street if you want to go east, which was counter-intuitive for people from the left-side driving countries. Once figured out the bus system, you would have no problem getting around Kyoto. The staff at the hotel was very polite and helpful. The gentleman who worked at the reception desk would stand up and greet us every time we passed by. He was very kind with helping us getting a taxi when we left for Kyoto Station. I will definitely come back to this hotel if I am going to visit Kyoto again.

XXiguaheboluoExcellent value for money! It's right next to a bus stop and close to a supermarket. The front desk staff were very easy to communicate with. There's a common area on the fifth floor with a microwave, water dispenser, and kettle.

LLandoXThe capsule shop's location is incredibly convenient. It's located in one of the busiest areas outside, yet the shop itself is incredibly quiet. The service was professional and friendly, and the restrooms, capsules, and everything else were clean. The only downside was that the area where you could chat freely was incredibly small. The rooftop area was either too hot or unusable due to rain.

DDarrylAs a solo traveler, I highly recommend this hostel for its exceptional quality and value. I stayed in a private room for just one night, but the experience was memorable. The location is convenient, with easy access to transportation and nearby attractions, although it’s not the most centrally located spot in Kyoto. What truly stood out was the service—staff members were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and eager to help with any needs or questions. The amenities were also top-notch, including clean and comfortable facilities, well-maintained common areas, and thoughtful extras that made my stay even more enjoyable. If I ever return to Kyoto, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose this hostel again. It’s a perfect option for solo travelers looking for comfort, convenience, and excellent service.

GGuest UserIt's similar to a Japanese economy hotel. It's quite small. It's very close to JR Nijo Station, and you can see it when you get out of the station. It is also very close to the subway station. There is a bakery, restaurant, and convenience store at the door, which is super convenient. This station is also beautiful, with cherry trees at the entrance of the station. Close to Nijo Castle, about 10 minutes on foot to Nijo Castle.

GGuest UserThe place has an excelente location, easy to get there. The room was cleaned and organized. However, there is no person at the front desk to ask questions or ask for help. The code for entering to the room was sent by SMS, but since we were traveling the service for SMS of our phone company does not work outside our country, so we did not receive the message since we were traveling. They do not have an e-mail address, so the check in instructions could not be send there. When we arrived to the place was late and we found the front desk empty even though we still arrived in the front desk service hours. We had a hard time contacting the hotel but luckily could get some help in calling the administration to get our room number and the code.

GGuest UserMy mother and I had a very comfy stay at this traditional Kyoto home in a residential area (FYI, the private rooms are on the upper floor. The staircase will be very treacherous.) The team was great and explained everything in detail. I appreciated that they took my mother's suitcase up as I followed behind. I liked the local neighborhood feeling compared to the buzzy central area, but you will need to take a bus from across the street to get anywhere before hopping on any train. Btw there was no shortage of places to eat in the neighborhood. (The 93 bus is convenient from the hostel because it will drop you off at the entrance of the Arashiyama bamboo grove.) I would stay at this location again.

BBilly ShaoIf you can, definitely ask for the bottom bunk, it was a pain in the ass climbing up and down with the top not having a head of head space. They do provide lockers with keys to lock up your valuables. They also provide some commonly used items on top of the fridge. Shower is in the room but washroom is shared in the communal area on every floor, the toilet stalls are extremely tight, it was a challenge to sit down, will def be problematic for taller individuals. It is a bit of a walk from the station but it is very quiet at night, everyone in the room was very respectful and tried to minimize the sound as much as possible. Overall, aside from the toilet being way too crammed, everything was good.
