PROS:
Fantastic customer service! Eage to accommodate our needs.
Breakfast was excellent! It comprised a hot and cold buffet. Well organised too with assistants coming round to top up hot drinks.
Reasonably clean rooms although outdated. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom is also clean with hot running water, particularly in the winter!
CONS:
Once reaching our floor, it was disheartening seeing the difference in appearance and the level of standard compared to what the lobby looked liked. Also finding our room was like setting onto a maze to begin with but we soon got used to it.
We were put on a non-smoking floor but the smell of cigarettes was very strong.
The bedroom was outdated and in need of renovation in terms of carpet and decor and furniture (although the bed was probably the most comfortable bed ever). Again we became used to the dip in standards.
Overall would stay at the Safir again as the pros outweigh the cons.

Hotel is relatively clean and new. Bed and towels are normal. Location convenient: on the first floor a good Yemeni restaurant, next to a good cafe, subway is close. The main attractions of Cairo are equally far from the hotel.
From the air conditioning system, it is awful to carry cigarette smoke if there is a possibility - do not turn on the air conditioner.
Without ”bribes” they give rooms with windows on the highway. Require replacement!

The hotel is indeed an old five-star hotel. Although the facade is not big, the lobby is lively and rich. Security check is required when entering the door. There is also a sentry post 50 meters away from the door, so it still feels safe. I think the breakfast in Cairo is also very satisfactory. There are rich varieties. In addition to the regular beef and chicken sausage, there is also sliced braised beef, which tastes very Chinese. There are also grilled eggplants, rich fruits, and fresh dates to taste. After all, from the UAE to Egypt, the gap is very big at the beginning, and this breakfast makes us feel better. The only weak point is the internal facilities of the room, which are indeed old and not so clean, but the air conditioning, water and electricity, etc. can be used, which is acceptable. After all, the overall price is still affordable. There is no additional charge for the ten-year-old child to eat breakfast.

I lived in a high-rise building, and what I saw when I entered the room was the beautiful view of the Nile River and Cairo. The room was large, the place was clean and comfortable, and the location was also very ideal. After our night tour of the Cairo Tower, we didn’t take a taxi and just walked along the The Nile River hike back to the hotel only takes about 30 minutes, and the breeze is blowing, making it very comfortable and relaxing.

I felt safe when I entered the hotel in Cairo. You can walk to the museum, but of course it takes courage to cross the road. The bar on the first floor of the hotel is very good, with music every night. After a day of fun, you can order some drinks to relax. The Thai restaurant tastes very good. We were a small group and ordered three dishes, all of which were quite good. The slightly inconvenient thing was that the shower head was not stable, but I thought it was acceptable because I only stayed for two nights. It seems that every room has a balcony, and ours has a view of the city and the Nile River.

When I checked in initially everything was lovely. They charged me $80 for an extra person in the room. The view was lovely and I was upgraded as a Marriot gold Member. The next day was not so lovely. I told them I would like to extend and was told I had to do that through Booking. What? Ok. So I rebooked with Booking and I guess they didn’t get the information. I showed them the reservation and that I paid. They called me incessantly and were rude as hell even though they had my Amex on file. It was ridiculous so I checked out and went to Le Meridian. So much better. Stay there. It is even connected to the airport. They have several restaurants and the staff is amazing. The view was lovely at the Ritz though.

Excellent
GGuest UserI have traveled to several countries and stayed in many five-star hotels. In a poor country like Cairo, I am really surprised that there is such a high-end and cost-effective hotel. This hotel has cured me of all the travel fatigue for half a month and made my children happy. .I am happy. I feel like I am a princess 👸 being pampered. And I am really high-end and classy. The ceiling of Egypt.
PPenny BlackwellThe military runs this hotel. It is alcohol-free. People were smoking everywhere, which may or may not bother others. The breakfast and dining services were good. The room was clean but a little dated. The hotel is beautiful inside and out. The staff was helpful and always willing to answer questions and offer assistance. The reception desk is not manned 24 hours a day. I was disconnected/hung up on 3 times when trying to confirm that someone would be able to check us in when I arrived after midnight. I was told it would be fine but we had to wait for someone to check us in. The pool was great and we have no complaints. We had arranged a driver to take us on our tours so I am not sure if the location is good or not. Great hotel and would recommend it.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the city center. We only stayed one night in the hotel and the front desk free upgraded us to a deluxe room. Though the room was a bit dated, but it was clean and spacious. The breakfast was good and had many choices.
FFarisalhosniI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hilton in Zamalek, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled on the tranquil island of Zamalek, this hotel offers a perfect blend of luxury and comfort, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers.
From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of my stay was seamless. The check-in process was swift and efficient, and I was delighted to find my room impeccably clean and well-appointed, with stunning views of the Nile River. The bed was extraordinarily comfortable, providing me with restful nights throughout my stay.
One of the highlights of my visit was the hotel's dining options. The breakfast buffet was diverse and delicious, offering a wide range of local and international dishes to suit all tastes. I particularly enjoyed the freshly baked pastries and the made-to-order omelets. The on-site restaurants also did not disappoint, serving exquisite meals in an elegant setting.
The amenities at Hilton Zamalek are top-notch. The fitness center is well-equipped with modern machines, and the outdoor pool area is a peaceful oasis where I could unwind after a day of exploring Cairo. The hotel's location is perfect for sightseeing, with many of the city's attractions just a short drive away.
Overall, my stay at the Hilton in Zamalek exceeded all expectations. The combination of excellent service, comfortable accommodations, and prime location makes this hotel a standout choice in Cairo. I look forward to returning on my next visit to the city and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable stay.

GGuest UserThis hostel has a good location and I would say that it is pretty walkable in the early morning and very late at night but the walking infrastructure is not the best in Cairo. Mid day the traffic makes it very tricky to walk around even though there are many good restaurants and attractions nearby.
Finding it is a little tricky but it is down an alley that doesn't allow cards and it is located on floor 2 of an older building. There is an elevator but all doors and gates need to be closed in order for it to work and we found guests at the hostel weren't good at closing after themselves. The staff are very kind and welcoming but we got a bit hung up on the payment. We booked on Trip with the ”Pay at the Hotel” option for 3100 Egyptian pounds for three nights in a private room but they were asking for 3600 when we were checking in. After a little back and forth they let us check in and gave us the keys so we could rest and wait for the manager's answer. The manager said no to our booked rate, we were told we booked on Expedia and we now had to pay 3900 Egyptian pounds. I'm at a loss of words for this discrepancy between Trip and the hostel but there weren't better deals in the area we wanted to stay and we very reluctantly paid.
The room was just a place to sleep with a box to the side where our shower and toilet were. The box had no ceiling or ventilation so there were smells throughout the room from the drains. The beds were comfy but were not completely clean when we arrived - there was hairs in the bed sheets. The room cleanliness overall could have been better. The area is quiet at night and we got a good night's rest to spend our days exploring Cairo.
The breakfast was ok but there wasn't much room to eat in the common areas during our stay so we asked for breakfast in our room during our stay. We had a simple breakfast with a fried egg, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, banana, tea/coffee and Arabic bread. It is enough to get you through until lunch and is served starting at 8 pm. There is a convenience store close by that offers fairly priced snacks and drinks which you might want to seek out because they do not provide water at this hostel.
We hope this property improves because it seems like it used to be really good and the location is good as well.
BBryce van de LaarThis is a good hotel if you need to stay by the airport. The staff are friendly, the breakfast is good and the pool is wonderful.
While everything looks very fancy and shiny, it feels a little tired and in need of some upkeep. Every thing is very clean, but some of the fittings are coming loose and showing rust.
GGuest UserIf you need a hotel close to the airport, this is a great one. With a free shuttle that leaves every 30 mins on the hour, it’s just great. The room are decently clean. The hallway is a little sketchy but the room was fine. Bed clean with fresh sheets. Great quick stay close to airport.
AAnonymous UserIn general, it is not bad for me to stay in a single room with a common bathroom for 10 nights.
Above all, I would like to express my gratitude to the staff's efforts to manage the City Hostel clean which is too old and out fashioned building.
* Location & Transportation
Without noise, it is the best location to stay. It is located at 2 2-minute walk distance from Attaba subway station that connects to the Ramsis Railway Station and the Egypt Museum, only 1~3 stops away, charging 6 EGP per way. Of course, you can go to both by walk in 20 minutes. It means you can also enjoy the Nile riverside which is close to the museum.
And it is a 2-minute walk distance from the Attaba market which is the biggest public market in Cairo and so many locals visit to buy their livelihoods stuff at a cheap price.
In addition, you can also walk to the Al Azhar Mosque and Khan El-Khalili traditional market in 30 minutes, and St. Marc Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in AL Azbakeya in 10 minutes
Two problems I experienced are firstly the noi⁹sy from 8 am to 3 am outside the building due to market area and cars' horns. It took 3 days for me to adapt it. Any room in the hostel cannot escape it without changing the windows to soundproof ones. If you are sensitive to sound, it is better to find other lodges in a residential area or modernized ones.
Secondly, its location on the Uber taxi map and other maps is not accurate, so drivers have some problems in finding the city hostel. I have to meet them in front of the KFC next to the Attaba subway station. The signboard of the hotel is too small to recognize it.
* Building and room conditions
Like many other buildings in Cairo, the hostel building is old and shabby. The interior design and facilities are also outdated. However, the staff manages it so clean, particularly a common toilet and shower room.
It is quite convenient a washstand in each room.
However, it is bad there is no electronic kettle to boil water in a room or a common space. I could not enjoy my tea or coffee time at any time. I have to ask for hot drink water every morning when receiving breakfast, and store it in my tumbler.
It will be better to provide a tea or coffee service area in the hostel.
* Cleanness & Safety
Cleanness and safety are very good. I have no issue with this.
* Services
There is no basic service that most guesthouses provide in general: toilet paper and drink water.
Wifi is too weak to use the internet.
Other services like laundry are satisfied.
* Others
During my stay, I couldn't enjoy having an exchange time with other travelers. I think it is because there is no reason to stay in a common space where only sofas and a table are. Largely guesthouse provides a commonplace where guests enjoy better the internet or drinks including tea or coffee and foods, which makes guests meet each other naturally and structurally.
In conclusion, if the hostel provides basic services like toilet paper and commonplace with drink water and electronic kettles, it will be much better.
And it is necessary to change its signboard so that is more recognizable.
Except issues I mentioned above, it is a very good budget lodge.
GGuest UserWe stayed in a renovated room so bathroom was newly done and the walls were freshly painted. Nice light options to relax with softer light. Curtain and carpet were also new and inviting. Bedding was clean. Bathroom was clean. We enjoyed our stay. It seems that rooms are being updated since other reviews were written. Many reviews seem harsh considering the price you pay. It's a higher end budget stay after all. We got soap, toilet paper and towel. You can't expect everything for a budget price. Reception area was nicely decorated for Ramadan and staff were friendly. Location is great and a fun part of Cairo to explore. Nice night markets! Typical city noises but not too loud to sleep considering its the centre of the city. Balcony sliding doors are new and close but there is no view to mention. Other guests we saw seemed content as they socialised in public area. I prepaid with ********* to avoid payment issues. Public areas do need some more renovation and some repairs but again, it did not reduce the comfort of my stay and it was acceptable being dusted and clean.It's good for Cairo. We enjoyed using the quaint art nouveau gilded style lift! A good experience overall.
GGuest UserThe staff is very nice. It's a very good hotel. I like it very much. It's convenient to buy food and drinks downstairs. There are clothes shops downstairs. It's lively and not remote. It comes with breakfast and charging is also convenient.
