Francis Marion Hotel

Staff at the front desk was a bit dismissive and parking costs $20/night. Breakfast not included but there’s a restaurant on site. Pros: - great location, close to attractions, restaurants, shops - Wifi works well - rooms are relatively clean however I found a few hairs here and there - rooms are spacious enough - Check-in is at 4pm officially but our room was ready at 2pm so we could check in - mini fridge in room - the hotel is nicely furnished and decorated - 24-hour fitness center - 2 complimentary bottles of water - Coffee machine in the room Cons: - staff at the front desk could’ve been friendlier - bed too soft and pillows too thick - A/C didn’t work properly—the room was either ice cold or hot
Homewood Suites by Hilton Charleston Historic District

Finally an updated Hilton property downtown Charleston that fits the budget for business trips. Location is ideal on Meeting & only 2 blocks from King St. Entire property is newly renovated which puts it above Hampton Inn and Embassy Suites in my book. Valet parking available. Staff was super friendly. I didn’t eat a meal on site so I cannot comment on food. Who wants to eat at a hotel when you’re in Charleston? :) Would definitely recommend this property.
Bijou Boutique Inn

A perfectly located and very homely little bed and breakfast that packs a lot of bang for buck. Friendly service, beautifully appointed rooms (excellent shower!) and located near all the historic sites of Charleston.
Holiday Inn Charleston Historic Downtown

Though the hotel itself needed some updating the staff was extremely helpful. I forgot my toiletries bag as well as hair gel. Oliva and Madison at the front desk were able to get me everything I needed quickly. I was in for business meetings so these two saved the day and allowed me to make my meetings on time. They also called into a local restaurant they recommend and were able to secure a reservation for my customers and I on the day of. Everyone enjoyed the recommendation. I will be back thanks to these two and their hospitality. Great location!
Meeting Street Inn

This is an older property, so you get the ”old Charleston” feel. However, our small bathroom was updated, modern, and our beds were comfortable. The A/C unit worked, sort of. The continental breakfast was good, though if you have any special needs, bring your own (our room included a small refrigerator). Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Central location is great for doing the usual things tourists do. We'd stayed there before and would again. Make sure you are comfortable with the cost, which is high, as are the prices in Charleston's peninsula historic area generally.
Barksdale House Inn
4.5/5100 Reviews
The Barksdale House Inn is our go to place to stay for our anniversary trips to Charleston. There's coffee, tea, bottled water, and plenty of snacks (even Moon Pies!) available 24/7, and, with a little fridge in the room, we're home! We spent 3 nights, so got to have 3 of Annie's breakfasts and they were always great (Annie is also the manager). Parker checked us in, and was there on most days doing an excellent job, and served us breakfast 2 mornings. The Barksdale's location is perfect, whether you're visiting the College of Charleston or just visiting the historic district - easy to walk everywhere, and super convient to the Green and Orange Lines of the CARTA free bus route for the histroric distric, so no car is needed. The Barksdale House is a special place to stay with special people working there, and we highly recommend it, especially for couples!
