Ibis Styles les Houches Chamonix

Oh dear SUCH a shame! I had stayed once previously and loved the place. I was happy to return and see that work had been done and the car park is now finished. I checked in and went to my room 214 which was well equipped and super comfy. But when I went down to the bar at about 1830 here was the shock. I was told that the bar was er closed today! When I asked to speak to his boss he refused and that was it. NOT a hotel as we know it and now I understand why it was cheaper than the nearly Sallanches Ibis hotels. NEVER again, pathetic.

Terrible customer service. No hot water for three days. Literally no compensation, no offer to change, no offer to help with anything! We ended up changing hotels but the hotel refused to reimburse for any issues. Family with two disabled children in a freezing cold place after play in the snow, a hot shower would be nice. However the water wasn’t even warm. Wouldn’t stay again due to staff’s lack of care.

Room 108 to 112 are on the same level and facing car park. No privacy and feel not secure. Have to close window all the time. When I book the room from website picture show full size sliding window looking toward small outdoor terrace. In reality it is not. I book this hotel for 5 nights. I ask reception staff if I can change room but staff are not helpful. Very bad experience.

Nice rooms recently renovated, breakfast is ok however dinner must be sorted out to be able to accommodate all in house guests before accepting walk in guests from outside, specially when you returning from a long day and not being able to get a table from 7pm till closing, is not acceptable and than seeing people from outside of the hotel seating down, this ruined out stay as we needed to go out in Chamonix to have dinner not what you want after a long day.

Location - 15 minutes away from Chamonix- Mont Blanc; 1 1/2 hour from Geneva Airport; there is supermarket 5 minutes away from the hotel, bus stop is 2 minutes walk; they will give you Free Bus Card upon check in Room - includes basic amenities; the hotel is very new; clean bathroom and we got a balcony facing the street; they dont have AC so it must be very hot on Summer Food -we tried their Italian restaurant for 2 consecutive dinner - there's not much restaurant in the area. Food was great and generous portion and not that pricey. We tried their Pasta, Pizza, Burger. Breakfast - the booking includes breakfast - wide selection - eggs, bacon, cold cuts, bread, cheese, and lots more. Worth to have to start the day!

Whilst settling in, found loose prescription ***** lying on the bedroom floor, from previous occupations. Luckily it was a parent that found this and not a toddler. Utterly useless follow up and lack of corrective action in cleaning standards.

Let me confess that my previous experience of Ibis hotels on the Continent has been limited, and I'd not paid sufficient attention to the different Ibis sub-brands. So our stay at this Ibis Style was a revelation, and a pleasant one at that. We arrived just after midnight (after a race from the ferry at Genoa) and slightly fretting that things would be slightly shut-up, but none of it. A friendly welcome and assistance, then quickly off to our room. It was a comfortable 5-bed family room that coped with us and our two 20-something lads with ease. Thoughtful design (sockets and switches in all the right places) was very evident. The room was good value. And the breakfast was outstanding! Not too many french hotel breakfasts have me leaving nicely full, but this one did. Thoroughly recommended! And although we were just using the hotel as a one-night stopover, the village is gorgeous. We agreed that we must come back to stay a few days longer another time.

I was returning from a trip to France on Monday and I was in the Sallanches area which I love. BUT the Ibis Style in Sallanches wanter 90 plus Euro for one night whereas the very nearby hotel in Les Houches (which is very near to Chamonix) wanted only 71 Euro for Bed and Breakfast. So I headed to the Les Houches hotel which is BRAND NEW!!! The lady in reception was very kind and friendly and offered me a free Welcome Drink. The Afflingen beer is one of my top 3 beers so a lovely glass of cold Afflingen was my welcome dring HAPPY DAYS!!!! The room was excellent, the breakfast too so I will surely visit again, LOVELY place and people!!! Car parking behind the hotel is handy and free!!
