had a fantastic stay here! there were 10 of us who all booked out a dorm. was quiet, clean and good quality. there are two bathrooms and two toilets per dorm which i thought was very good. our room wasn’t ready for an extra half an hour so they gave us free drink tokens for the bar! the reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is because it was awfully hot in the room - even with the window open! there didn’t seem to be air con - we wondered even if the hostel had put the heating on? we didn’t try the breakfast. the hotel bar had decent food but long waits.

I booked this hotel to go to the tattoo I knew it was a no frills budget hotel but was not expecting how small the rooms were probably ok if travelling alone or maybe a one night stay, we stayed 3 night and were glad to leave the hotel, we were told that all rooms in this hotel are approximately 8x8 square basically a box room with a bed and a toilet and shower cubicle and nothing else no chairs no where to put things there is a tv in the room. But we did not use this the up side though is the location which is fantastic and close to everything, the staff know the problems and were exceptional in helping and understanding our needs, I can not fault their efforts and the rooms even thought a little ruff around the edges were very clean We did have a few issues with maintenance of our room the bathroom (if you can call it that) handle kept falling off and there was a piece of tape holding the skirting on Even as a budget hotel there should be certain standards followed

I went in February 2021, and just now writing a review because I'm going back to Edinburgh and stumbled upon this place again. I only used the hostel as a place to sleep at night as we were doing a lot of exploring. I was in the biggest mixed gender room. Beds were fine, one bathroom with multiple showers for all of us. Even in Feburary, the room got stuffy and hot at night, waking me up. Additionally, there were two people having a snoring war which was unpleasant at 3 AM to say the least (I realize this is the danger of booking a large room but just sharing my experience). Also be aware of people getting up and leaving early with loud alarms due to this being a travelers hostel. Decent place and good enough amenities. Good - location - beds comfy enough - outlets by beds - nice front desk Bad - hot and stuffy at night (in February) - would love for more toilets and showers for the amount of people - snorers (not something the hostel can change) - not a social environment - people come back late / leave early with no concern for people sleeping

The location is good, walking around Edinburgh is basically a must, the room is clean, but wifi costs £3 for 24h and there is no hair dryer in the room (you can ask for it at the front desk), but the lady at the front desk is very friendly and the service is very good.

I stayed here for a week of the Edinburgh Fringe. Buses to city centre 5 minutes walk away, or 29 minutes walk to some of the Fringe events. Stunning location under the majestic Arthur's Seat, so I had to have a go. Reception staff are very courteous, helpful and welcoming. Part of Edinburgh University student accommodation which they let out as bed and breakfast accommodation in the summer break. Buffet breakfast in conference centre on site, all you can eat self-serve, gets very busy unless you are an early bird - restaurant is open from 7am... Great value for 3 star accommodation. Clean and spacious bedsits, I paid a little more for en suite.

As a solo female traveller the location was perfect, just off of the royal mile with a variety of pubs and nightlife a minuets walk away to avoid long walks home alone. Location just up the stairs from the market street exit to Edinburgh Waverley was also ideal. Free luggage storage on day of arrival and on the way home for a fee. Room and bedding very clean. Lockers too skinny for me, unable to lock away full bag. Remember to bring own padlock as they are quite expensive to rent. Staff were very friendly and communal areas were nice. Toilets/showers were quite small but did the job and seemed clean and the same could be said for the kitchen. Overall enjoyable experience and I would go back.

This is a good place for backpackers. We stayed here for a couple of nights in a 12 bed dormitory. The beds were good with ample space to keep our stuffs. Toilers were clean. The receptionists were friendly and approachable. The check-in time is 2 PM, so if you arrive early, you'll need to wait in the locker room and help yourself to some coffee. Or else you can keep your bags in a locker and roam around the city till you are ready to check-in. Early check-in is also available, but subject to availability of beds/rooms. Overall, quite good.

Stayed for 5 days with my wife. Beautiful building and got a great deal including breakfast. Arrived very early in order to drop off the cases prior to book in which wasn’t a problem. As others have mentioned staff aren’t the most communicative or welcoming which doesn’t give the best first impression (we did try to make conversation). Room was ok, large and very roomy with good views. Definitely need somewhere to put your clothes as staying for 5 days was awkward living out of a suitcase!!! We were there when the fire alarm went off at 02:15am which was confusing but we did manage to get out safely, not much communication/assistance from staff though. Others have bemoaned breakfast but we found it excellent for the price, everything working, replenished regularly and piping hot. For the price it set us up for the day. Overall a very nice stay in a decent hotel. Couple of tweaks would make it even better.

What I liked about my stay: The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is right in the heart of Edinburgh and perfect for exploring the city. The kitchen, while a little bit too small, was clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was included in the price and the staff made sure to stock up on any missing items. The toilets (not the whole communal bathroom) were spacious. What I didn't like about my stay: The entrance is not super easy to find. The whole place is very narrow since the hostel is located on just one floor. The bedrooms were cramped (especially the one for 9 people). A little bit more personal space would be nice, even in a hostel. There isn't really any surface to store the stuff you don't put into your locker. There was a lot of noise during the night (from people talking outside and the air-con). The sheets were clean but partly ripped. There is only one communal bathroom for the whole hostel. Two of the four showers were out of order. In one of the working showers the drain was clogged, while the other shower made a terrible screeching noise during use. The cleaning here left a lot to be desired.
