Occidental Papagayo - Adults Only All Inclusive

Do not go anywhere near this place. !!!! Think Motel 6 without the 6!!! Everything is just terrible. The room was a dump. The service is nowhere around. The food was not edible. I checked out 2 days early on a 3 day stay just to avoid the reminders here. Absolutely horrible

Our experience at the hotel was great ! Everyone was very friendly always helping us and making sure we are taken care of. They also offer plenty of activities to do in the hotel and dining options as well as buffet were great.

Upon check in, initially we were told private check in and that did not happen. We got to our room and had no hot water. Told front desk and nothing was done. Second day and still no hot water. Third day and resort lost all water completely for 28 hours. We were told multiple times it was the entire town that was out and that was not true. Some buildings had water and some didn’t. 28 hours without water. 4th day water is back on but still no hot water. We got back to our room around 2300 to find our ac unit had fallen off the wall exposing the black mold behind the unit. They had us move rooms but did not assist us with moving our luggage during a rain storm. I had contacted front desk multiple times daily about the hot water and they told me they would send someone up to fix it but this never happened. Front desk was absolutely zero help. We will be getting our money back from this resort. The hotel is extremely understaffed rude and not helpful. The food at the buffet and restaurants were cold and tasted like it was cooked the previous day. Stay far away from this resort. Rumors going around that the resort is on its way to closing. We had to leave the resort for meals because the food was so bad. I will say the food outside of the resort was amazing.

First off, the food quality needs to improve. Most of the food at the buffet for dinner was not edible. We found ourselves trying to eat just the pasta after a couple days and even that had a weird sauce on it. The breakfast was mainly eating eggs and French toast. We tried the room service, but the food was way over seasoned, and the burgers were nearly burnt. Secondly the mini bar is not even close to a mini bar. There are 2 of us in the room yet only one water. There were not even small bottles of liquor in the room, and we pay for premium. Next the room service was almost obsolete for our last 2 days. The next to the last day, our coffee was never restocked and on our last night, not only was the coffee not restoked, but room service never even came to our room. This brings me to the last part which is the service at the front desk. I called to get coffee the last night when nothing was serviced in our room and was told the person would be right there with the coffee. I waited 30 minutes and went to the front desk to get the coffee. All the night girl could say is what is your room number when I explained everything that had not been done and the call for coffee with no one showing up. The young man just kept telling her to go in the back and get it for me. I would say this has been the worst experience at an all-inclusive adult's resort that we have stayed at. The best part was On The Beach Tours (Larry), Theilor (bartender) and the bartender at the premium lounge.

Room was a nice size, we did pay $75 a night for an upgrade. Bed was comfy but bathroom and decor in dire need of updating. Turn down service good. Staff friendly although a couple were grumpy and didn't crack a smile even though you said hello, please and thank you in Spanish. Food was the worst that we have ever had in an all inclusive athough if you're a fan of salad, bread and sweet things then there's plenty of choice. Entertainment team wete brilliant. Free pool tables but not enough space around them to play properly. Both pools wete lovely. We paid for Premium drnks but they're only available in the premium bar which is on the floor above main reception which is quite a trek up numerous stairs from the pool. Chris in the premium bar in the evenings was great. Sadly due to the food we would not be going back.

I would say that the entertainment people and the bartenders and servers were great. The pools were amazing. I rate the hotel 3 out of 5 stars. I wouldnt stay there again. As they say. You get what you pay for

The property itself looks amazing. The food was edible. My biggest problem was our room, the air conditioner did not work and I asked several times and did not get any assistance on it.

I loved the quiet, my room was ready early and staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the limited amount of food/drink service at the pool, limited activities, limited food options and poor quality of food. Overall, choose this place at your own risk.

This place is great if you are looking for a quiet relaxing week. The entertainment is very minimal. We rented car and spent lots of time at coco beach. The ocean there is great. Property is beautiful. There is no place to get late night snacks or drinks. If you are looking for party vibe. This is probably not the place. If you are looking for relaxation and quiet. Perfect place.
