We had lots of expectations from this place, but were disappointed. The drive to the property is fine barring the last stretch of about a couple of kms which is a mud road, not advisable for cars with low ground clearance. The property looks great in the website though it is not so in real. The main building needs upkeep, it looks old and worn out. The English cottage is huge, but was not clean, the furniture upholstery was soiled and was dirty with stains, the bath rooms were very nice, clean and big. We were forced to move to the new suite. The suites in the new wing are much better and the rooms are a lot cleaner. The service on the 1 st day was pathetic, they were understaffed and took ages to serve us food. The dining hall in the main building is stuffy with coffee bean bags for company! We faced the same issue with breakfast. After we complained to the management, the service and quality of food got better. They did set up a buffet in the new building, they were also very reluctant to arrange a bonfire and only after we insisted did they arrange for one. Its a good place to visit if you have a group since individual families may get bored. The estate is nice for long walks and bird watching. Food is okay. We felt it was not worth the price we paid. A special mention to Mr. sampath and Mr. puneeth and a couple of other staff whose name I forget for making our stay comfortable, they were wonderful. But Mr. bopanna was more keen on saying no to everything we asked!.

Just before Madikeri on the left coming from Mysuru. In the middle of a sprawling coffee estate. The reception and dining is in main building which is more than 180 years old. Stand alone cottages on one side. Block with rooms on other side. Checked into a cottage. Nice, spacious and well appointed. Room was clean. Had dinner all days which was good. Breakfast was a let down on 1st day but improved next day when pointed out. All in all just ok. Even breakfast service was below expectations. Staff were polite and helpful. Only activity is a walk in the estate. You can watch movies in an improvised ‘theatre’ which is a room with TV and couch. A pool table too. Nothing else to do except enjoy nature and rest. May be uncomfortable for senior citizens. You can have liquor only in room which is a let down considering we chose the place for the 180 year old building.

This was more of a last-minute decision for a drive to Coorg and we came across Old Kent via TripAdvisor. Though there were no recent reviews, but we decided to give it a try – away from the usual hotels and resorts we pick up at Coorg. The reservation was smooth, we booked the Jacuzzi cottage directly via phone and got the email confirmation. We followed the maps and reached Old Kent around lunch time. As some reviews have pointed out in different forums, the last 1-1.5km stretch has a bit of narrow and rough roads. But overall, not much of a concern in terms of the approach. The reception and the restaurant are in a separate block near the entrance, which also has a reading room for those who are interested. Post the check in formalities, we walked down via the rocky pathway to the Jacuzzi cottage. The rooms are huge with a comfortable bed and sofa. They have Wi-Fi connectivity, and you can use the smart TV for any programs as well. You will get a cell phone with the numbers of reception, room service etc. saved in contacts. That acts as the mode of contact from both sides – either you want to call or if they have to reach you. The Jacuzzi cottage has a sit out area outside the Jacuzzi which looked great in photos. But we were highly disappointed. The area has dead plants/grass which have not been cleaned since ages. The chairs and table were full of bird droppings, and no one cared to even clean them or replace them as part of room readiness. We did bring this up during check in, but nothing really changed after that. Basically, the main highlight of having an open space as part of this cottage was disappointing as it was just not usable. You can check the photos to understand the state of cleanliness in the room. Even the walls have dirty fingerprints all around, and no one seems to bother. So, for the entire duration we had to sit inside if we are in the room, or just walk around the rocky path. They do have room service for any food orders, but after 3-4 requests to ask for the restaurant menu [which is not available in the room], I gave up and instead called and asked what they have and placed an order. We had our meals in the restaurant itself. Food is average, but you would get most of the things you would look for or on request. They keep alternating between buffet and ala carte breakfast based on the occupancy, I think. Overall, as an experience, I found it to be overpriced considering what is available (at least for the Jacuzzi cottage). The estate may be good and a welcome change from the usual places of stay but needs a lot of maintenance, and is actually Old. Till the maintenance, room cleanliness (at least was not the case for the room in which we stayed) improves, its very difficult to say it’s worth a 5-star rating and the price they charge. The other rooms may be better than what we got, but our experience was just okay.

Location and accomodation is good .Services are expensive ,they don't provide high tea which is provided in all resorts and charge 200 for small glass of coffee . Ordered Gobi Manchurian and clearly chef didn't how to prepare and was given a plate full huge Gobi where we need to cut into 4 pieces to have it and still you had to pay premium of 600 for such a gobi. Break and dinner buffet are very limited in spread but surely charged more Good resort but not value for money . You can find a better resort at the same price where you get good coverage on food

Great place to stay at. Their rooms and hospitality was bang on. We stayed in the English cottage and jacuzzi cottage. Great location inside a coffee estate in Coorg. Would love to revisit them in future and recommend my friends and family to here for a relaxed vacation

Wake up in the sound of birds , have breakfast within coffee plantation, lunch in the British era bungalow and sunset coffee with crickets chirping. One of the best place to spend the weekend. Well crafted Villas to stay with views of coffee valley. Friendly staff, thx Sampat and team, limited recreation but the new owner have some great plans(swimming pool), food needs lot of improvement not worth the prices. Overall Great stay over a couple of nights.

Excellent Property Amazing food but 0 customer delight. We group of 3 sister we went to celebrate my birthday. 1. I had booked this for April but could not avail due personal situation they gave us a credit note. At the time of booking itself since there was no pool we specifically told that we would need jacuzzi room. Which I guess was premium that is what the sales communicated to us. 2. When we checked in they told us jacuzzi room was unavailable however they will shift us the following morning to the room. Though disheartened we agreed. 3. In the room they gave us we couldn’t get a drop of hot water all our complaints fell on deaf ear all they said was keep the tap open for 20 mins sn we should get hot water alas even after 30 mins no hot water and we took a cold shower no one showed to rectify 4. When the morning dawned and we again complained they come back n said sorry the electrical wire is burnt you can occupy the jacuzzi room it’s ready. If it was available at 7:00 am why were we not given this room at check in itself-they went to argue guest checked out at 5:00 am. Our chauffeur confirmed no one left the estate till 10:00 and we were the first to step out. What a bunch of lies from resorts staff!! 5. The card taker Mr Sampath is least interested They know it rains every evening but the plantation walk is planned at 4:00 so eventually u end up getting drenched. While there were rain coats we were offered only umbrella-logic they may have to even clean those after they’re being used!! 6. Staff will not give u any information till it’s Asked Overall not a great experience infact I felt they ruined our party experience

This place is unbelievable. We thank Mr.Adil Haque who has introduced this place to us. We have been to this place for 2N 3D stay with all inclusive package. This is the must visit place once in a year if possible. The Room was very spacious with Jacuzzi in an open space room. Food is very excellent and you have many choices for selections in it. Celebrated my pre-birthday bash here with this team. Very excellent and well made on the surprises. Thanks to the entire team. Very impressed at their hospitality. We thank each & every staff from Ms.Pooja (Booking Team), Mr.Ashik (Front Office Manager), Mr.Prashanth (took us for Trail Walking), Ms.Tara(HouseKeeping Dept) and other staffs too. We also had a opportunity to meet and discuss many things with Mr.Sathak(Director of Old Kent). Its was a wonderful time to spend in these kind of Old british colonial place. Very impressed on their maintenance and we request them to keep up the same going forward. I recommend that those who want peace of mind, health must visit Old Kent Resorts and Spa once in lifetime. Pack your bags soon....

We went to old Kent estate in the second week of March with our 4 year old child. The estate is off the main road from Kushalnagar Madikeri, so 15 mins before the local town Madikeri. We had the cottage with tub. The cottage is quaint, and very comfortable. The bathroom is huge and has all comforts including a foot massage place. We enjoyed 3 nights there. We did the red trail walk across the plantation twice, once by ourselves. It was stunning to see the length and breadth of the place. The hospitality was very good, very sweet staff. All of them serve you with a smile on their face. The estate has a kids room and games which our child utilised to the full. From archery to telescope to playing croquet. The estate also has a movie room which we didn’t end up using but we did enjoy a game of pool. It was a beautiful experience. We will remember the people there very well. We enjoyed to the hilt.
