Hot spring Hotels in Kos

The location is very convinient and the personel were friendly, but the management was too strict. We got 4 bed room with our trip.com reservation for a family four, but they wanted to charge extra 30 euros, claiming that our 16 year old dauther cannot be considered as child, even though I showed them a confirmed reservation form trip.com for a 3 adult and 1 child (in trip.com page under 18 year old kids are considered as child). They said they would give a discount of 3 Euros out of 30 Euros, showing a sympathy! We accepted to pay 27 Euros not to waste our short vacation time. But, then, they charged 3 more Euros at the check out time, saying that is for the tax and they forgot about it! The two beds for our son and dauther were sofas, not comfortable. The airconditioners were not cooling enough. The room quality is not for a 4-star hotel, barely 3-star hotel.

We stayed here one night at the end of a holiday in Kalymnos; to help with ferry and flight timings. Arrival was at check in time and the lobby was fairly empty. Our room had been prepaid and was a deluxe sea view. Sadly Neptune fell flat - I guess we’d been spoiled at the Kantouni Beach but this was neither sea view nor deluxe (check out their rooms if you want both these things and more). To be fair, you can just see the sea if you don’t mind the 10 foot pampus and other trees in the way. It was otherwise ok. The air con was set at 20, not far off what we heat our homes to in the UK. We wandered back up to reception and asked if we could have the room temperature lowered. The response was fairly brusque with the male receptionist telling us that was it 20 and would only ever be 20 and he kept repeating this. I asked for a fan. Not a huge ask in a ‘luxury 5 star hotel’ but it seemed to annoy. We left, unsure of what we would get. After a little exploring and sampling our (very welcome) ‘welcome drink’ we returned to our room to a note with a sesame biscuit. There was no fan and I was about to ring reception when my husband discovered the air con had been chilled down to 16c. A good result but why tell us it was set at 20 and could go no lower if that were not the case? You can request a lower temperature at reception, but it is on an individual basis. Dinner was in the Asian influenced restaurant and whilst it was all undercover, it was open to the elements so very warm and stuffy but he food was good, tasty and well presented but nothing out of the ordinary. With check out set for noon, we had some time by the adults only pool which was really nice. Returning to our room to shower and leave for the airport I realised the hairdryer was not working. It was fine for 10 seconds then seemed to stop. I called reception and advised them we were checking out at noon. They promised to send the electrician. He never materialised and I continued to dry my hair with 10 seconds on, 1 minute off hairdryer antics. I got there but it was painful. A couple of points to note, the shower - a sort of wet room - would not drain of water and the drains had that really awful smell. You do get used to it but it’s rather grim. The floor of the whole room was sticky and with damp towels on the floor after our shower it was clear it wasn’t clean when they went very black and grubby. Housekeeping take note. Wash the floor, don’t just swish the dirty water from one end to another. Upon checkout (same member of staff who was intent on a 20c air con standard) we were told the electrician had called but our ‘do not disturb’ sign was on our door. Not so, but I really couldn’t be bothered as I was never going to convince the staff member. Why didn’t he knock? Because he didn’t come. We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were hospitable and friendly. The room was immaculate, boasting a comfortable bed and 2 seater arm chair. The view from our balcony was serene and the golf cart to help us get around was really appreciated. We were in room 1302 which was not too far from the main restaurant and main bar. There’s live performances at the main bar on Mon and Tues nights. Thursday is disco night and Friday's for Greek Dancing. You can hear the music/entertainment from the bar but it quickly quietens down before 1 am when they close. Accessibility wise, I only saw stairs in this area, we had stairs leading down to our room and up to the main building. The food was great! We were half board guests which meant breakfast and dinner was included, but we were given the option to swap dinner to lunch if we wished to, we just had to get a voucher from reception to do so. Every day the meals were more than satisfactory. Breakfast and dinner is buffet style, eat as much as you can, but if you like something be quick because once it’s gone, the replacement might be something different. There’s a kids club and a little playground they can use. There’s also a mini supermarket on site, buy your bus ticket to town here, as it’s cheaper than buying outside the hotel. We explored the Spa, Salon and Gym but did not use the services. The spa and salon have an additional charge but the gym is free to access, you just need to approach reception beforehand. There’s daily Yoga and Pilates classes, which are also free, you can just turn up, I really enjoyed the Pilates class. There’s 3 pools on site. One of the world’s longest infinity pool is in this hotel, there’s a beach bar near it, arrive early to claim a bed. Not too far from the inifinty pool is a restaurant where you can grab lunch/snacks (additional costs) and there’s an Asian restaurant (eating here depends on the length of your stay). At the bottom of the hotel there’s a shingle beach, where you can enjoy the sound of the waves and there’s a bar here also. The manager is a lovely man, very thoughtful and always willing to help guests. He approached us a few times during our stay to make sure all was okay/to help and he was really helpful in the restaurant during busy periods. Michaelangelo is located at the end of the island, it takes 10 mins to get to Kos Town Centre, which is easily accessible thanks to the bus that stops right outside the hotel and approx 45mins to get to Kos airport. What was Kos a surprisely fun island for a week and what had we a great weather in the last week of October. We have had many Greek islands and all have their own character, but Kos is certainly at the top 3. Hotel Atlantis is a good hotel for the price we paid for it. Rooms were dated and could be renovated, but everything was all and worked, we had a family room with his two, not very needed with his two, but now we had each a private clothes room and a third room where we were sleeping. All in clusive was great, for everyone enough of what you want.

We enjoyed our stay here. Ill list as pros and cons: PROS - the location is great. Less than 10 mins drive from airport, in Kardamena which is quieter than Kos town and the hotel itself is not in the town but a 10 min walk along the coast away which for us was even more perfect as we were looking for a relaxing break but close enough to places to go out and eat. - 3x swimming pools on site, no problem getting sun loungers though we came in October so might be an issue peak season - love that the rooms are in blocks over the hill. We got a great sea view and it was nice to walk out into sunshine and not hotel corridors. - everything was clean. From rooms bathrooms hotel lobbys and pool sides - hotel is on steep hills but there are lovely gentlemen happy to take people up and down in golf buggies. (We were happy to walk most the time). - everyone is really friendly - our room (twin room) was really spacious inc. the bathroom. Beds were comfortable. Air con worked great. Good balcony with drying rack. Patio door had a mosquito screen so we could open the door and close the screen. Smart tv also so could access netflix! Tea coffee facilities in room. - really comfortable sun loungers. CONS - would have liked to have massage -but was fully booked as theres only one therapist. Book in advance. - asked for an iron and was told “they can’t guarantee theyll find one but they will look”. It didnt turn up and i spent the holiday wearing creased clothes. A 5* hotel should have an iron!!! - breakfast was underwhelming. It was fine and you wont leave hungry but as a frequent traveller, it certainly wasnt a 5* spread, particularly hot food (or lack of it). - outside of meal times you wont get much food. We were booked for breakfast only (not all inclusive) and our flight landed early afternoon. We got to the hotel around 3ish starving and just wanted a sandwich or similar and was told lunch service was over and the a la carte dinner started at 6 (which we needed a reservation for). Poolside has a few snacks which the bar guy was lovely enough to offer me and i was grateful for, but would have been livid if i had to pay for it as it was nothing more than a dry breadroll with a slice of cheese and also pretty rubbish if thats all on offer outside of set mealtimes. We had just landed and didnt want to go hunting for food in the town so just bear this is mind. - room was only cleaned once during our 3 night stay. I dont mind reusing towels but floor and bathrooms should be cleaned. I guess we could have requested a clean which we didn’t. - “beach” in front of hotel is not a beach but a ***** of mud with some sunloungers. Not the hotels fault I suppose but can’t really advertise it as such. Nicer beach few minutes away for public that we used. Overall we were happy with our stay and would come again, but some areas of improvement needed which made me feel this is more a 4* and not a 5*.

We stayed at one of the suites with my family. High quality linen and amenities, wonderful views of the pool and the beach, loved the spacious balcony overlooking the pool and the very comfy bed. We tasted delicious food at the property, the kids were more than happy with the pool and the food. The staff was very friendly and polite, ready to funfil all our requests. And of course the room and all the property were spotlessly clean, you could see members of the staff cleaning and tidying the pool and public space. We will come back for sure once in Kos!!!

Kos Aktis Art Hotel is a reasonably priced hotel that provides an unparalled sea view and comfort with a really kind and helpful front desk staff like Sofia. Breakfast served in the open air dining room right by the edge of the sea is delectable with a variety of hot and cold options to choose from. And the hotel is within easy walking distance to all the major attractions like the old town as well as the ferry port. Stay at Kos Aktis was truly a pleasant experience.
