We are regular guests at the Summer and wanted to write this review for the beautiful A La Carte restaurant Med. Its location alone is simply stunning. Perched on the cliff side over looking the bay it is a sight to behold. The dining levels are all glass fronted so if there is a breeze you will be comfortable when seated. Once seated we were promptly looked after by a lovely waitress called Melina. Wine poured we eagerly scanned the menu. The first thing we noted, was that as opposed to our earlier visits the menu has been condensed into a smaller selection. But we think that this is a good thing as it allows the chefs to concentrate on what they are knowledgeable in producing. Our starter/salad was Verde which was very tasty with its mix of mushrooms and white truffle. Pasta course followed which was the Mushroom Risotto and a small portion of Carbonara for me. Very delicious. Please see attached pics. Main course was Pork Panceta for my husband and Veal Tagliata for me. The presentation and taste were sublime. So much so that we swopped mains halfway through so that each of us could experience the levels of flavour that were in each dish. Crème Brûlée to share was our dessert accompanied by more delicious wine, which was exceptional. This place gets the full 💯 from us and we look forward to our return visit next year! Well done Summer Palace team. You are a credit to the hospitality industry! Have a great winters rest. You so deserve it! Jo and Mart x

My husband and I stayed here for 10 nights in May 2023. It was our first time in Kos and staying at a Mitsis hotel. The thing that attracted us to the hotel was the 5* rating and room type we booked - Superior Double with Sea View and Plunge Pool. We arrived very late after travelling all day. Check in was quick and easy. The only food on offer at this time was the reduced buffet, which is exactly that. Plenty of salad items, bread, some cakes and one or two hot dishes. It would have been nice for some meats and cheeses to be available to make a sandwich but only ever saw that at breakfast. The room was very nice and modern, luxurious and decorated to a high standard. It had a walk in rainfall shower which was great. Separate toilet with door and large bathtub with modern fixtures. The mini bar was refilled daily with beer, wine and soft drinks. This room type has a nespresso machine with the pods refilled daily too. I believe it is only the superior rooms that have this. Lots of wardrobe space and a safe. Large flat screen tv, although most of the channels are not in english. There are no plug sockets near enough to the tv to plug in a fire stick (we always travel with one) so I would recommend packing an extension if you want to use one. Room has air con and plug sockets have usb ports on them which is a nice touch. We didn’t find the beds comfortable nor the pillows, but this is all down to personal preference. Outside on the terrace you have a table and chairs which are always in the shade so a nice place to sit when you need a break from the sun. There are also 2 large, very comfortable sun beds/loungers with a parasol. Again had a luxurious vibe. We had to phone reception and get someone to come and put the parasol up, 2 men came to do it and they struggled. All of the other rooms surrounding us had to do the same so if you get the parasol put up I would leave it up or you will need to call reception each time! The pool had a jacuzzi setting on it which was nice. The terrace/pool gets the sun all day. Also provides shelter if you get rain like we did a few days. A lot of the hotel looks modern - nests, superior rooms, a La cartes and infinity pool area. The main building/terraces, buffet and lobby have a more traditional feel. Buffet This was hit and miss, we found if you went early for each meal it was better. For example there would be nicer things on the buffet that then get replaced with something else after it had run out possibly. For anyone who has allergies/intolerances or a special diet you might struggle as the labelling is not very detailed and at some dishes not present at all. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Drink service sometimes a bit slow but you could just bring a drink from the bar in with you. Breakfast buffet had the most choice in my experience. Lots of hot food, cereals, yoghurts, bread, fruits and meat and cheeses as well as pancakes to choose from. We visited each a la carte once d

Wow. The most amazing, beautiful hotel. Ignore the big negatives as it was just amazing and I already want to return. Food - All the restaurants were lovely, the pool was lovely, the snacks throughout the day were tasty. However, The Buffet was not nice, we were so hungry after this so we ate out the nights we didn’t have a hotel restaurant meal booked. Make sure you get booked in early for all the a la carte restaurants! Room - The sea view room was just beautiful, and so luxury. However, we couldn’t really see the sea much, but we did have 2 big comfy sun loungers which were fab. You get the mini bar free daily which is so good and also a Nespresso machine!!!! We paid for a room upgrade for the last night we were there. Instead of the basic sea view room, we upgraded to a private pool suite. It cost about £160 and was worth every penny. Wow I really recommend this!!!!! Pool Area - The sun beds are very strict in terms of not being able to leave and go for breakfast. We were up at 6:30AM in order to actually get a sunbed or we wouldn’t have gotten one! We loved getting up early to watch the sunrise but then the pool and bar doesn’t open until 9ish so it’s a long morning. We had to either take it in turns within our couple to go for breakfast or ask a couple nearby to sit on one of our sunbeds. Extras - DO NOT go to the hair salon for an up do!!! I showed a photo of what I wanted and it wasn’t like that at all. I asked her to redo it and it still was appalling. It was such a waste of money. I don’t even had a photo of it as I pulled it out before I even got back to my room. Another girl was having her nails done next to me and the spa staff member was not doing what she was asking for either, so it seems a recurring thing that they do not do as you ask and pay for!!!! It was meant to be a nice relaxing experience but it was stressful and upsetting!!! We booked the 7 course romantic meal. It turned out to be 5 course, which is still plenty! It was such a beautiful meal, absolutely perfect. However, do not book if you can’t sit down with your legs crossed as you have to sit on the floor. But the cooking was just beautiful. We hired the pedalo with a slide which was good as we went 4 ways on the cost with another couple.

Lets start off, the view is incredible! We had a plunge pool room and the room was lovely, stocked up mini bar daily and was always clean. However this is not a 5* hotel. We met people here that have came for last 2 years and wont come again because how poor its gone. No longer do they serve gyros and pizza on the beach like the main glowing reviews. The reception staff are friendly however information given is poor. The lifts down towards the med bar stink of urine. The food in the buffet is terrible. Barely anything labelled up too which is hard with a son who has an allergy to diary. The “a la carte” food is very poor except the med bar where its average at best. We are lucky that we could of eaten out but its a shame for some families we spoke to that paid the price expecting quality and unfortunately didnt get it. We ate out in kos for the day and Kardamena 3 nights. When you arrive late at night make sure you eat otherwise youll be having left over food from buffet at the late night buffet. Awful! The snack bar on the beach is shocking! And please dont ask for an iced latte… Luggage on leaving was just left in lobby. If i could ask for a refund i would or if would have read recent reviews rather than the glowing ones it portrays i wouldnt of booked. There are much nicer hotels than this at cheaper prices and better food. Its like they spent all the money on the refurb and pulling back on everything else. A view doesnt make a 5 star hotel. Such a shame!!

Arrived on Saturday and staying for 7 nights. Reception staff on arrival did not really recognise the loyalty programme by mitsis and told being a mentor member didn't make any difference. Cases taken to room and shown the view was all the information we recieved on arrival so you better know your way about. Rooms not great and certainly not 5* it is in the old part of the hotel and realise these reqire refurb, but expectation would be that there was enough batteries to work the TV remote and the aircon which both required them. We reported this and the fact that there were no channels on the TV, the batteries were replaced I fixed the TV myself as the arial had come free and the hotel did not fix. Been in the main restaurant 3 times, once when we arrived for a late dinner, we did not eat as the food seemed overcooked and unappetising. Second time for lunch which was a poor choice and could barely find anything to eat. Third was this morning for breakfast, the food was ok but was told to return to my table when waiting for coffee by the manager who said a waiter would get it, but I had already waited 10 minutes and didnt want to wait longer. Poor service We went to the med for brunch and the food was great. The service was poor. When I finished I was asked if I would like something else and I asked for 2 coffee and a waffle I'm still waiting. Last night we went to the den for dinner and the food was meagre. 1 skewer to start a small steak to follow with a small potato and a corn on the cob, I cooked it great though. We asked for a drink and were asked to wait but he never returned until I gestured as he had forgotten about us for 25mins. This hotel looks great but the food and service in the restaurants is poor. The only saving grace are the med bar and the lobby bar where the staff are just learning but are attentive. I am leaving the hotel on Saturday for the Ramira hopefully that is better as the Summer Palace is a let down in so many ways.

The hotel was fine, albeit it being incredibly boring, the inside pool being empty for our entire trip bar the final day, only being able to utilise each restaurant once during our eight days, the hotel being in the middle of nowhere (the shuttles to Kardemena + Kos aren’t free) & incredibly poor entertainment. Other than the points just listed, the hotel was fine. I cannot fault our room it had a fantastic view with a nice bathroom. I can say the cleaning of the room was poor and varied day to day. The main hotel buffet isn’t something I personally would rave about, the food simply wasn’t to my taste. The scrambled egg in the mornings was either dry and crumbly, or on other days resembled something you wouldn’t even find in HMP. I picked up a soft boiled egg on our final day, only for it to be rock solid inside. One night I picked myself up a steak to find it completely raw! BLUE!! Despite all of this, I can’t find it within myself to fault Simos. I can without a doubt say he worked tirelessly, and tried his hardest to please us upon hearing of our hungry nights. He was the highlight of my week. Overall I’d say if all you’re looking for is to camp out overnight, ready to scramble for a sunbed at the crack of dawn in the morning and lay there all day, this is the hotel for you. The staff at the poolside are lovely & attentive. Though if you have young kids, elderly family members or anyone who may be challenged by flights of stairs, id steer clear. The pools are small and freezing cold.

Everything in this hotel was absolutely perfect. We had the best vacation. Good food, lovely setting, excellent staff. The pizza at the Med is delicious and brunch also. Simos at the main restaurant always welcoming. Billy at the infinity pools was always attentive and went beyond and above to assist us.

We’re here now and really are just generally disappointed. We spent over £3.5k on this holiday and we were really looking forward to a relaxing holiday due to serious illness we really needed this holiday - and somewhere we ‘wouldn’t have to lift a finger’ as the website states but infact it’s been the complete opposite. We had open cables and electric by our pool? Huge concern!! Maintenance came and just glued it down. Jet didn’t work on our pool. Half drunk bottle of wine in our room. No anniversary gift on arrival like we requested The guy at reception was helpful but the lady said to us ‘we can upgrade you but it’ll be £250’ Nothing has actually been done to compensate our stay at all. We’ve spent more money by having to eat out of the hotel as the food is so poor. We were hoping for better food today so booked the den bbq bar and the food was just completely inedible. Steak was full of fat. We weren’t given prongs like anyone else so had to use the fork to pick up raw meat as the waitress ignored us. Werent given a menu or drinks when we arrived. I had to ask for a menu which the waiter actually got annoyed about The whole experience has just been shocking and the staff have absolutely no Willingness to make our stay any better I’ve been overly polite to all of the staff and to be honest the attitude of some is just quite shocking. It’s really disappointing as we have three days left and to be quite honest we just want to leave the hotel I’m not one to complain at all and we have been so patient with the staff On the plus side the gyros at the beach is nice and the views are lovely. But unfortunately those two things aren’t enough to make a holiday!

Just back from a weeks holiday with my wife and 2 children (8 and 6). The junior suite was great. Well furnished and plenty big enough for us all. The a la carte restaurants were all fantastic along with the food available from the snack bar on the beach and the pizzas available at the Med bar. Beach very clean, great sea for snorkelling. Swimming pool areas are all Fantastic and never any trouble getting sun beds. Nice touch to be able to take the kids to the nearby Norida Beach hotel to use the water slides. No complaints at all. Will definitely be looking at returning/other Mitsis hotels following this holiday experience. One to watch out for - the Norida Beach and Blue Domes hotels are also 5 star but having seen all of them I’d certainly say Summer Palace was the nicest.
