We stayed here for two nights from October 5-7 and have no complaints about the service and care we received. This is renovated primary school, but you wouldn't know it from how it has been remodeled. Though we did like the wide stairways with wooden bannisters that retained a little of the ”school” feel. The overall atmosphere of the hotel and its grounds is very calming; a nice oasis from the bustle of the city. The room was a good size with very good amenities that made the stay convenient and comfortable. The in-room bar was complimentary and restocked daily. We also had access to the lounge which had free flowing snacks and beverages throughout the day. It was nice to sit next to the window with a warm beverage or a glass of wine after a long day of trekking across the city. We ate in the city, but also made a point to try all of the places to eat in the hotel. We had breakfast on the outside terrace of the main restaurant. The ”well-being” breakfast was healthy and hearty; very filling. We liked that the breakfast was ”by order” rather than buffet. Buffets can be tiring when you just want to sit comfortably on a terrace, enjoying the morning with a cup of coffee. We had one dinner at Benoit, the French restaurant. We tried three mains as part of two set meals we ordered: Sea Bass, Lobster, and Pork Loin. All were done very well. For a late supper, we had a steak on the Rooftop Lounge. The chef himself, strongly suggested I order a different wine with the steak as he felt it complimented it better. It was actually a cheaper wine than I had ordered, so I appreciated that it was a true recommendation. We followed dinner with cocktails in the bar, where the bartender apparently is rather well-known in Kyoto. He certainly had admirers watching him as he made the drinks. The hotel general staff and concierge were all very helpful, helping us reserve cars and check to make sure that our destinations were convenient for our purposes. They also follow-up with us to see if what they had suggested worked out. The only suggestion is to make sure that you leave plenty of time for arriving and leaving. The hotel is right in the middle of a major tourist area. There are many temples in the area, and the streets are lined with tea houses, places to eat or buy souvenirs, and places just to discover or wander about. So depending on the time of day, the traffic can be very congested. That said, from the hotel it's only a 20-minute walk to Nishiki market and the areas around it. Overall, an excellent stay. We would definitely consider the hotel again for any future trip we might have to Kyoto.

This place is INCREDIBLE! I have no other words for it other than the most pleasant stay I could ever imagine having at a traditional Japanese ryoken. We opted for daily traditional kaseki breakfasts that were served in our room with tea and coffee, would sit at the bar and chat with the staff and sample their great Japanese whiskey collection, enjoyed our beautiful spa-like bathroom with private onsen, heated floors, temperature controlled shower area, and beds so comfy, you couldn't help but fall asleep as soon as your head hit the pillow. The staff were incredibly amazing and very quick to handle any needs we had—and they were SO friendly! We had several great and long conversations with them that they felt like friends more than hotel staff. The location was great too because you were a short walk to several temples, popular tourist sites and great food but was secluded enough that you felt like you could relax and detox from the chaos of other large cities in Japan. This was one of the best experiences during our 12-day stay in Japan. I highly highly recommend. One piece of information that might be helpful, the entrance can be difficult to find but the property will message specific instructions to show the taxi drivers so whether they know English or not, they'll be able to get you close to the entrance. Once dropped off, it's just a short walk to the entrance. But trust me, it's worth the search.

Great hotel and staff! The experience of staying in a traditional Japanese hotel was worth the price. The hotel was very tranquil, we never felt rushed and the staff was superb. A special thank you to Ms. Maumi Hosoo for helping with the bus reservation to the Osaka airport. She went out of her way to print out a picture of where we pick up the tickets and where we board the bus. In this day and age, it is rare you encounter such fantastic service. The rest of the front desk staff was equally helpful. They made dinner reservations and called cabs as requested. They would explain to the taxi driver exactly where we were to be dropped off. The breakfast was excellent as well. We had traditional Japanese breakfast the first two days and then a more western style breakfast. Both types were superb. Was happy we stayed at this hotel.

The staff were very kind and made my stay even nicer! From the rooftop you can see the Kiyomizu-dera and at night the view is easily breathtaking, especially if you contemplate it with some typical green tea and some japanese sweets. I reccomend this hotel to anyone who is interested in seeing Kyoto as both tourist and local. A bus station is situated right at the corner of the street, you can reach it in one minute by foot, like the central Kyoto train station which is 15 minutes far by foot.

Great stay in quiet Kyoto neighborhood. Only downside was the strange check in process. Had to go quite a bit of distance to check in physically in person.

Great end! ! ! The location is first class, there is a small waterfall, there is an old-fashioned ancient incense, an isolated Kiyomizu-dera temple, a two-year-old, a third-year-old, and a close-up of the capital city. The hotel is a subterranean-style hotel. Talks about how to improve the service status! ! Thick stick! ! I love hotels. Thank you for your invitation. Introduce to everyone. I love Japan!

The roadside location is directly opposite Kiyomizu Temple Alley and Yasaka Pagoda Alley. It is recommended to arrive at six o'clock in the morning. It is free and there are few people. There is a 24-hour convenience store opposite the hotel. There are refrigerators and microwave ovens in the room. If you are tired from playing, you can buy refrigerated rice from the convenience store opposite and take it back to the room to heat it in the microwave. You can also heat it in the convenience store. Pasta with tomato sauce is really good. The room is clean, there is a washing machine with laundry detergent to wash clothes, there is a drying button in the bathroom, and the clothes are dried overnight. The lighting in the room is also quite good. There are floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and windows above the 2nd floor, and the screens are not afraid of mosquitoes~ The overall is not bad!
