HOTEL TAVINOS Kyoto ★★★

Smile Hotel Kyoto karasmagojo ★★★
"The hotel's location is excellent, right near the Gojo Station exit on the Karasuma subway line. There are convenience stores and restaurants nearby. Despite being next to a main road, it's very quiet at night."
Tennen Onsen Renka no Yu Onyado Nono Kyoto Shichijo ★★★★
"Facilities: Absolutely loved this Japanese onsen ryokan! Can't believe Kyoto, of all places, has one. You take your shoes off as soon as you enter, and you don't need them anywhere in the hotel, which is incredibly relaxing. The only downside is the restaurant is too small and too crowded; no matter when you go, there's a huge line, which wasn't a great experience. However, the breakfast was excellent. Cleanliness: Inevitable tatami mat smell, but you can open the window, so it's not a big issue. Service: Felt right at home. Environment: A bit of a walk from the JR station, but the experience was really good. I pretty much just stayed in the hotel and didn't feel like going out."
The Hedistar Hotel Kyoto Nijo Comic&Books ★★★
"Definetely will be back again. The room was spacious. There are rooftop. Tons of mangas. Smoking room. The staffs were helpful and great in english."
APA Hotel Kyoto-Ekikita ★★★
"Great location, 5 min walk from Kyoto station..."
Hotel the M's Kyoto ★★★
"Hotel was near kyoto station and ywtwo malls, very convenient location to travel around the places of attraction. Room was also spacious, and we enjoyed the lobby area. Highly recommend!"

Getting to & around Kyoto
No airport in Kyoto. Fly into Kansai (KIX) or Osaka Itami (ITM) – both about 1-1.5 hours out. Kansai gets most international flights; Itami is smaller and closer (good for local flights). Take the Haruka Express train to Kyoto Station for speed, or grab a cheaper highway bus.
Late arrival? A few airport hotels near Kansai (KIX) run shuttles, but it’s worth pushing to the Kyoto Station area.
Hotel Name | Estimated Price | Location (Distance from KIX) | Services |
From $44. | 3 Chome-3-34 Ichibanishi, Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture (~10.7km) | Airport shuttle (pick-up/drop-off, free), luggage storage, wake-up call, restaurant, massage room, Wi-Fi (public areas), taxi booking, 24-hour front desk | |
From $41. | 1 Chome-3-51 Nakamachi, Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture (~10.4km) | Airport shuttle (pick-up/priority drop-off, free), restaurant, sauna, hot springs, Wi-Fi (public areas), luggage storage, EV charging, taxi booking, laundry, massage room, conference room, parking (fee) |

Downtown Kyoto is walkable if you stay near Kawaramachi or Gion – temples, markets, and alleys are close. Buses are super useful (get a day pass!), as subways don't cover much. Bikes work too, if you don't mind busy streets.
