Residence Inn New Bedford Dartmouth

Dartmouth|8.07km from Cumberland Farms
Decided to spend a night at this hotel with initial plans to make it a home base after spending time on the Cape. Our plans wound up changing later on, but we decided to still use the hotel. Overall, our stay was good, and if coming back to the area and in need of a spacious room, I would likely stay again. The hotel is located right off the highway and seems a bit tucked into a tight parking area-almost like it was randomly plopped down where it was. Still, despite being near noisy roads, we never experienced any loud noise. The ladies at the desk upon check in (and throughout our one night stay) were all pleasant and answered any questions we had. The room was also a good size, a bit more dated than other Residence Inns we've stayed at in the past, but nothing that would be a deterrent for me. It seemed to be clean overall, with no noticeable issues. The one thing that got points knocked off was that when someone was in there cleaning, they discarded of their latex gloves on one of the chairs at the dining table and forgot to take them. Pre-COVID, that would have been a ”no big deal, just throw them out ourselves” thing, but now, that's something that you don't really just touch without thinking about it. Our only other thing that was an issue with the room was that it was on the first floor, which personally isn't a preference, but not a big thing--except here, there are large bushes in front of the windows. while that's great for privacy-it also creates a lighting issue in the room. the regular room lighting wasn't enough to combat what the bushes blocked from getting in, so the room was a little dark because of that. Of all the hotels we stayed at recently, when it comes to a post-COVID free breakfast, this hotel had the best. Basically, the only thing missing was the meat/eggs and waffle maker. They had bagels, yogurt, fruit, an abundance of cereal choices and hard-boiled eggs, coffee and juice boxes. This was the best offering we saw everywhere we stayed, and while we did miss the hot food and the ability to sit in the breakfast area to eat (not the hotel's fault you can't eat in that area its currently state law in MA that guests can't congregate in public areas), it was a good enough breakfast for what they could offer these days. While there were those minor things that made this not a five-star stay for us, it's still a good hotel, and the area around it is quite nice too with plenty of shopping (Dartmouth Mall is maybe a mile up the road, and around the corner on State road there are several other restaurants and stores as well). Depending on what you need when going near the cape in terms of hotel, this could be a great place to rest your head for a night.
