Crowne Plaza Paris République, an IHG Hotel

We stayed six nights at this fairly spartan property that was fitted with basic room attributes including a small refrigerator, a hair dryer and a tiny safe. We requested a coffee maker and received a hot pot with instant coffee. Getting an iron in the room proved a bit of an ordeal. The room was clean and the beds were quite good. Hotel staff was uniformly convivial, accommodating and helpful with exception of an encounter with the night manager (more on that later). Only one low voltage outlet in the bathroom was provided that could power an electric razor. My daughter brought a dual-voltage curling iron and hair straightener that could not be used in the bathroom due to lack of an electrical outlet. Staff ultimately provided an extension cord to be strung from the nightstand, and over the bed that my daughter was able to use to reach a wall mirror in the bedroom. We had the misfortune to be at the property during the annual Pride celebration at Place de la Republique directly in front of the hotel. My wife has mobility issues and we had to push through hundreds of drunken celebrants to get to the only entrance to the hotel. Scary stuff getting pushed along by a mob where my wife could have fallen and been trampled. I understand the Pride celebration is a public event but its a scheduled event that the hotel could have alerted clients to and made provisions to have opened a guarded entrance on the backside of the building away from the inebriated mob. With an early morning departure to the airport, I went to the desk the night before to check out so we could leave quickly the following morning. The front desk clerk advised that the hotel had my card on file and my e-mail address so they would send me the bill thereafter with nothing additionally to be done the next morning - just drop the key and run. As we were leaving early the next morning the night manager told me that I couldn't leave because I hadn't settled my bill. He inferred I was skipping out without paying the bill. I recounted the discussion I had the previous night and he repeated firmly that the bill needed to be closed out before we could leave. It was an uncomfortable encounter that was unnecessary. Somebody needs training here and its not the client. In summary, I'd say this property lacked many expected elements for the price point and as such could only describe it as providing moderate value. The lack of provisions to accommodate client access during the Pride celebration and the check-out snafu made it seem that they were somehow new to the game.

While this hotel is super charming and clean, I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you are expecting air conditioning. My a/c unit in the Verdeau room was set at 16 Celsius, but it didn’t blow cool air at all, in fact, it barely blew any air at all. Management insisted it was working fine, but the room was a freaking sauna. I had to leave the door to my room open to get a bit of circulation from the lobby, which was perfectly cool (with the a/c in there unit set at 22). My room was completely uninhabitable during the day and only barely tolerable at night because I had my own tiny misting fan (which blew stronger and cooler than the a/c unit). They wouldn’t send a technician to fix it or even provide a larger fan. Also, the windows do not open so there is no way to get any air in the room. It was absolutely misery. I’m so glad I was only here for 2 nights. I moved on to another hotel that was icy cold with the a/c set at 19 celcius, so I’m quite sure Casa O just needs to maintain their equipment better. The housekeeper was lovely and, while she couldn’t do much, she did attempt to make me more comfortable by bringing me water and covering the windows as best she could. While I liked the hotel otherwise, I wouldn’t risk staying here after April or before November when Paris might have a heatwave. Also, there is no one available to attend to issues after hours. No one ever answers the phone number provided. The area was fine, though not my favorite. It was convenient to a metro, though not a very useful line. I didn’t feel super safe walking around alone at night or in the early morning. It was my first time staying on the right bank and I’ve discovered I’m more of a left bank girl. I’ll choose the 5th or 6th for all future stays.

Les Halles
Wonderful stylish hotel with beautiful rooms in the vibey yet elegant 2nd arrondisement. Great central location with huge variety of restaurants, cafes and food shops nearby. The hotel is beautifully appointed....a classic Parisian building with chic deco and modern touches. Our room was comfortable and tranquil. The staff were friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the bar, with its great cocktail list, friendly bartenders and snacks. Highly recommended!

Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Du Sentier. The staff was very warm and accommodating and the room itself was spotless and sizeable. We frequented the restaurant/bar downstairs when we could as well as all the other charming stores in the neighborhood. The metro was two blocks away but when we wanted to, we were only a short walk from Notre Dame, Le Marais and other wonderful attractions. Would highly, highly recommend this hotel to friends and family when traveling to Paris. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!

Les Halles
This place is kind of between a hostel and a hotel. The rooms are pretty basic and the walls are quite thin, but it has a great location and friendly staff, plus a cat called Gigi. It reminded me of my room at university.

Though there was a problem related to the number of guests, hotel staff helped my family very kindly. I strongly recommend this hôtel considering price and location.

This hotel is amazing. Location is perfect, you can easily walk from the hotel to Louvre or to Seine river. Everything is close and there is many restaurants near by. Room was clean and had a window with a view to the street. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend staying here. Shower wasn’t the best experience. In the beginning there was no warm water and the water pressure came just hard enough that you was hardly able wash your hair.
