Plantation Urban Resort & Spa

Doun Penh Phnom Penh|0.5km from Silver Pagoda
Possibly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed at in my life and I travel a lot. I’ve experienced a lot of hotels. The pool area is very tropical with lots of mature plants and trees. The water temperature is perfect. Great cabanas on the edge of the pool and plenty of them. The food at the restaurant is great. Plus I love the lighting in the restaurant at night. In fact the lighting is well thought out throughout the hotel and in the rooms, creating ambience and mood. It’s something that’s so often overlooked in hotels. The room itself is a reasonable size with a very comfortable bed, fridge, tv, AC, god water pressure and hot water, lots of nice little touches in the rooms. Pretty cushions, free water, toiletries, flowers. I also loved the day bed for reading. I had a balcony overlooking the pool on the second level. It was peaceful and all I could hear was bird song. The staff are smiley and attentive. The location is perfect. Yet despite its central location it’s so peaceful. When you come in off the street and walk passed the Koi carp pond you feel as if your walking into another world. It’s as if the sound even from the street gets turned down, even the air smells differently here which I’m assuming is due to all the plants. The price is competitive and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the place highly. I will be returning in December and will definitely be back. Also don’t miss a deep tissue massage at the spa with Bopa , it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Just book it!

The whole place felt grubby. Marks on the wall beside the toilet, below the mirror at the basin (like toothpaste/spit splash hadn’t been wiped), found a blood stain on the doona cover (see pic) that was hidden by it being folded down when we arrived. Ugly stain marks above the bed head (see pic). Towels are thin & need replacing. Drain in the shower was slow/partially blocked so you end up standing in a pool of wash water that almost overflows the shower. Pool has black scum along some edges (although water seems clean), sun lounges are mouldy. Our room wasn’t cleaned “because we didn’t ask for it to be”, but I had put out the ‘’make up my room’ sign after coming back from a city tour & seeing it hadn’t been cleaned. No instructions about needing to “request” a clean. Ran out of toilet paper & had overflowing rubbish as a result & had to call reception to bring paper. Breakfast is very average. I had low expectations after reading other reviews but it was bad. Ran out of food & had to ask them to refill. Coffee & tea was cold. Only the omelette was good, once I figured out eggs were included as the cook is outside & they don’t tell you about it when you come in. Reception didn’t give me back my passport (like they should!) when I checked in & I didn’t realise as I was distracted. Then when I checked out & said my room number, they looked at the computer & said “ok” and waved me off. Then I got to the airport & realised it wasn’t in my compendium like it should be. I had to pay to get it to the airport, no apology & then I find they had my room number clipped to it, so should have given it to me on checkout! The bed was ok comfort wise. Tuk tuk driver Son was attentive & helpful for trips around town. (See pic) Cocktails at happy hour are a good price & made well quality drinks. (See pic) Would not stay here even though it’s a cheap price & is in a good location.

I had the absolute pleasure of using this fabulous hotel twice for recent visits to Phnom Penh. On both occasions, I was warmly welcomed and experienced a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. The hotel is efficiently run, peaceful and in a perfect location on pleasant Wat Botum Park. This park has an atmospheric, friendly, local feel in the late afternoon and early evening with families strolling, doing aerobics, jogging and walking. From the hotel, it is only a short easy walk to the riverfront, Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and National Museum. The hotel restaurant is sadly no longer open but there are lots of good places to eat, including tasty cheap 'street food', or enjoy a drink within a short walking distance. Front desk staff are incredibly helpful and accommodating with special requests. Yoiklien, Theara and TyTy all deserve special mention as they were just so extraordinarily helpful and always welcoming. Theara was especially kind-hearted and caring. Thank you all so much! You're good adverts for the hospitality industry. Keep up the great work! The hotel also conveniently has a very reasonably priced laundry service. Given its excellent location and facilities, the room rates are very reasonable indeed. In my opinion, you would struggle to find better elsewhere. I can see why it was awarded the TripAdvisor 'Travellers Choice 2021' award. It deserves it! My standard room, with a small balcony, was well appointed, clean, spacious and very comfortable. All in all an absolutely superb choice of hotel and one I would very happily return to again and again, as I have done. I would very highly recommend this hotel to everyone and I look forward to my next stay. Thank you King Grand Boutique team for such a pleasant and comfortable stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for four nights, the room was clean and staff were very friendly. There was a fridge in the room, wifi throughout, pool on the top deck and a nice little balcony where you can smoke. Also really comfy pillows which is always a bonus when you've been staying in budget places for a while and haven't had comfort. Not a bad location and tuk tuks are waiting outside to take you where you want to go for cheap prices. Reception is manned 24/7 which is also nice to have in case of any problems. They have stopped providing breakfast ever since covid which is a shame. They also offer a laundry service but its much cheaper to take it two doors down where they only charge $1 per kg instead of price per item like this hotel does.

Booked via Agoda for $10 a night. same place as Diamond Palace II/RS II Opposite the park. 2 rows of 4 rooms with the ones at the front having a view the ones at the back are quieter. The stairs are a bit steep. There's no lift. I got a small but decent sized room for 1 person. Wifi was good. There were 2 bottles of water in the room. I put them in the fridge (which was unplugged, doh!). Some of the plug sockets were a bit dodgy in the room. I asked to be moved to another room. This one was better. Most of the plug sockets worked and there was a wardrobe and it was on the 2nd floor.

I've slept in total dives in this city before and I'm really happy that I didn't do that this time. Prantara Heritage Suites is a really nice option for travelers who have to be mindful of their budget but want a good experience being somewhere. It's a sweet little white villa tucked away just behind the British Ambassador's residence. There are some really nice places to hang out, eat and drink nearby. The Vine, Box Office, The Loft Coffee, are all a short walk from the hotel. Nearby there is also a large park called Wat Botum Park. It's a great spot to take little kids as there's a playground for them there. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The room itself was very comfortable and stylish. The air conditioner worked well and kept me chilled out during my stay. My time at this hotel reinforced in my mind the the positive nature of the changes that are happening in the city. Phnom Penh is clean these days. I don't see garbage in the streets as I have in the past. The people are as kind and friendly as ever. This place gets my vote and I highly recommend it to anyone who is coming to town. Check to see if there are any live comedy shows happening at SpeakEasy Theater just around the corner while you're here. I bet you dollars to donuts the next time you come back to Phnom Penh you'll want to stay here again.
