Very friendly staff with a kind of family approach. Nicely renovated rooms. Honest food for breakfast and also for the dinner. Perfect ski&bike room. Refreshing bathing pond. You can hardly find a better based place for your active vacation.

Lovely, recently renovated hotel with great spa and good breakfast and dinner. We, a family of 4 with teenage children, spent 5 days at the family run Hotel Wiesenegg in February where we opted for the half board option. The facilities were great with a good choice for breakfast and a varied set menu at dinner. The hotel’s restaurant also caters for diners not staying at the hotel in the evenings. There is a high staff ratio and diners are frequently encouraged to order more drinks and to opt for the daily wine recommendations for dinner. We are not big wine drinkers so opted for beers with dinner instead. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience with the young female owner manager who, much to her staff’s embarrassment, issued instructions that, following the purchase of one soft drink each, our children were not to be served any tap water as a second drink. Carafes of tap water were liberally served on almost all other tables we could see so when we queried why we were made to buy still bottled water (for 7.50 Euros no less!!) for our kids, we were told that we were not allowed any tap water because my husband and I were only buying beer, not wine. Not only did this completely single us out and made us feel like we were only there to spend as much money as they could extract from us but it is a complete outrage given that we were already spending 1,000 Euros per night to stay at the hotel in the first place - as well as buying additional drinks, (including alcohol!!) in the evenings. The young lady has a lot to learn in terms of hospitality and has sadly lost our custom. We won’t be back.

It was a real treat to stay at the Wiesenegg Hotel during our recent ski holiday. I was a bit concerned about the location initially but it was easy to get to the main lifts - you just go via two drag lifts positioned right behind the hotel. The hotel is around ten minutes walk from Hinterglemm and connected to Saalbach via the ski bus (covered with your Ski Circus Lift Pass), we liked that it was in a nice chilled out part of town. For us, the food was the biggest bonus of staying here. It's evident that the chefs really care about the food they are putting out. Everything, from the granola and muesli bar to the salad dressings, desserts and wine pairings was perfected beautifully. Every breakfast and evening meal was a delight (highly recommend staying on a half board basis as it really was the best food we've eaten in a hotel). The staff were accommodating, friendly and helpful at all times - going out of their way to help and make everything as easy as possible for us. It felt like being invited into a family home - which evidently, we were! Another great bonus to nurse tired muscles after a full day's ski was the hotel's Black Box spa - a collection of three saunas/steam rooms with suggested timings to get the most from each. There was also a delightful tea room with healthy teas, nuts and fruit and a relaxation lounge which was perfect for snuggling up with a book. The only very slight downside for us were the beds which we found a little spongey. But this was a small gripe and it certainly wouldn't stop us returning - possibly in the summer to do some hiking. Overall, a wonderful stay with some great memories of our first ski holiday in Austria.

Gorgeous looking modernised hotel with great amenities and food. Ski room, gym, sauna etc all exceptionally laid out. A bit on the edge of town and takes two drag lifts to get to a main cable car , but we could ski back to the door ( we had a lot snow) . 10 minute walk into Hinterglemm. Only criticism would be that the restaurant staff could be a bit indifferent at times. I’ve found many Austrian ski hotels manage to keep that ‘ family run’ feeling after they have extended the original building. Maybe the Wiesenegg is still making that transition.

What a great place. The hotel is immaculate, offering lovely, well appointed rooms (we stayed in a standard double) and a really nice restaurant serving great food. The service was really top class, from restaurant waiting staff to the cleaners, all marshalled by the excellent and attentive management. The Ski locker room was one of the best I’ve come across, with individual lockers for each room that included heated boot tubes. All very good. The location is on the edge of town, so a short bus or taxi ride to the nearest gondola, although a drag lift within 100 metres will allow access to the huge ski area. This suited us as nice and quiet, although it’s only a 10 minute walk into the centre of Hinterglemm. Well done to owners, management and staff, this place is fabulous and highly recommended.

Gerne wieder.
