Orange Hotel (Shanghai Hongqiao Yan'an West Road)

The Staff at the Front desk was very helpful, the Mainland travel permit for Hong Kong and Macau residents (non-Chinese) was not able to be registered in this hotel, the hotel never came across this type of identification document before and took them approximately 25-30 mins to have me check into the hotel. But the hotel staff was very helpful and polite even though we had a massive language barrier. There was a guest who was beside me who spoke English, he was a real help. The staff also helped me add their address on my ******* app so that I can order food delivery and dont starve to death 😂 The room is nice but the pillow had some sort of mild sweat or cigarette smell. I would recommend a hotel staff to spray some fragrance on the mattress before placing the new bedsheet soon after a guest checks out from the hotel. Otherwise everything was good the hotel staff is nice the room is nice and comfortable.

Well it was a one night stay and it was suitable for that. No English speaking staff but we managed anyway.

Room was clean, shower had great water pressure. I booked this place because it was close to Laowei Jie and had a refrigerator. The refrigerator didn’t work properly, in that it didn’t remain cold. It could be because of power saving methods and linked to the air conditioning/lighting controls. It’s great for a solo traveler, but I wouldn’t book if traveling as a couple.

Conveniently located and within a comfortable walking distance to Lao Wai Jie and Sunshine International Plaza (jewelry, pearls, fashion and electronic goods). Several trendy restaurants, cafes and salons in the area if you are looking for something beyond your usual hotel buffet. The bed and linen was clean but some maintenance of the room was required. It is satisfactory as a place to sleep before your flight or high-speed train journey to your next destination.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Orange Hotel. The room was a suitable size and had everything we needed, and the hotel is very close to some great restaurants and a naturopathic clinic. The owner/manager was very friendly when we checked in, and experienced with working with foreigners and passports.
