Snow Sands Grand Hotel

This hotel truly lives up to 5-star standards. It boasts expansive grounds, luxurious decor, and a wonderful overall ambiance, complete with lovely river views nearby. The air quality is exceptionally good, making it ideal for a vacation or a summer retreat. What's more, the price is quite reasonable. I only managed to take one picture of the river view from the hotel.

This is a Tibetan-style hotel, and the front desk staff also spoke some ethnic minority languages. The room was actually better than I expected, and it wasn't very busy. The hotel is right next to the Jinsha River, and I even took a nice stroll along its banks.

The hotel's location is excellent. From our room's balcony, we had beautiful views of the Jinsha River, and enjoying the breeze there was incredibly pleasant. Breakfast was also very rich and offered a great variety of options, and the dining environment was lovely!

Stepping into this old hotel was like opening a treasured, yellowed book, full of stories. The weathered walls and slightly aged wooden furniture all whisper tales of time. While devoid of lavish decor, it possesses a unique charm, with every detail imbued with a profound sense of history. Despite its age, the service here is absolutely impeccable. From the front desk staff to the housekeeping team, everyone greeted us with warm smiles, patiently answered all our questions, and were as genuinely friendly as long-lost friends. While the rooms don't boast a trendy, modern decor, they were spotlessly clean, the bedding was soft and comfortable, hot water supply was stable, the air conditioning ran quietly, and all essential amenities were provided. This made for a truly reassuring and comfortable stay. The hotel's location is superb, surrounded by a plethora of dining options, and transportation is incredibly convenient, with both bus and metro stations just a stone's throw away. What truly delighted me was the breakfast, which offered both local specialties and classic Western dishes, all authentically delicious and varied. If you appreciate a vintage ambiance, seek great value for money and convenience, and long for warm, personalized service, then this old hotel is absolutely the perfect choice. It's like a warm haven nestled in a city corner, its charm, refined by time, offering every traveler an unforgettable stay.

The hotel boasts a pleasant exterior and is conveniently located right by the Jinsha River, offering direct river views from the rooms. Other aspects such as facilities, hygiene, ambiance, and service were all satisfactory. My main disappointment, however, was the breakfast. While it wasn't terrible, it felt more like a 3-star-plus standard, which didn't quite justify the 4-star price point. This could potentially be due to the hotel frequently accommodating tour groups. Furthermore, it seemed that any expected perks or benefits were only provided if specifically requested.

It's arguably the largest and best hotel in the area, situated right by the Jinsha River, and is well-equipped. At over 400 RMB a night, the value for money is only average. The breakfast spread wasn't particularly extensive either. Since the highway opened, leading to a significant drop in overnight guests passing through Tiger Leaping Gorge, the facility maintenance has suffered. Locals say that a hydropower station is currently under construction along this stretch of the Jinsha River (upstream from Tiger Leaping Gorge), and in about 10 years, all areas below 2000 meters above sea level will be submerged. So, if you plan to visit, do so soon, as it will eventually become an underwater city!
