We stayed for a week for our honeymoon and honestly didn't want to ever leave, this is such a nice hotel! From the moment we arrived to leaving, every staff member we met was so nice and kind, especially at the front desk as well. Our room was so lovely and directly across from a hot tub, which we loved making use of. The mini fridge was also quite spacious as well, certainly big enough to bring drinks back from the nearby supermarket. Breakfast was also really high quality and a really good selection considering it was included. We had dinner at the restaurant on the first night and on top of our welcome drinks, we were also given some extra champagne as it was our honeymoon. The aurora wake-up service is also fantastic, it was so great to just be able to walk outside and see the Northern Lights (twice!). We honestly can't thank you enough, we had the best stay!

We stayed one-night at Hotel Range on our way. back from the southwest coast. The breakfast at the hotel was far superior to all our other hotel stays in Iceland - you get to order in addition to the breakfast buffet. The welcome drink, the chocolates and the bottle of wine for booking directly with the hotel were all added touches. We got meet the owner of the hotel. They have the aurora wake-up call service and even snow suits to wear before stepping out through the front door. The wooden lounge chairs at the front of the hotel serve the best purpose of lying back and gazing at the stars and sky. I would highly recommend Hotel Range to anyone who wants a luxury stay.

Cute hotel with great restaurant and dining options! Definetly would not describe it as luxury but it is a could option for a rural Icelandic town in the middle of nowhere. It had a very cute lodge feeling and the rooms were decorated beautifully! They had a sort of weird smell but not necessarily unpleasant or annoying. Beds were a bit springy but not bad at all and all members of my party got a good night of sleep!

This hotel is worth staying at, ok, it's quite isolated ( between towns, but just off the main highway so easily reachable ) The rooms are well looked after, very clean...nice beds too. Breakfast was very good, we were lucky enough to speak with a staff member called Veronica, very friendly and offered good advice too. Dinner as you would expect here is quite pricey but this is Iceland....also it was very well cooked, excellent. The staff at this hotel were all very good and always happy to help. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Sadly we would only rate this hotel 3/5 stars. Pros! - Amazing, friendly helpful staff at most encounters - Great food - the restaurant is a must visit! - Good area - Outdoor hot tubs are a great addition and you must use! Negatives… - Rooms need some TLC overall - Shower head doesn’t sit on the wall, it falls down so needs fixing. - No shower curtain. Due to this and the above, the bathroom floor would get soaking! - Shaving mirror wouldn’t sit properly, would fall down every time we tried to use. - Plug in sink didn’t work. - Jets on jacuzzi bath didn’t work! - Toilet coming away from fittings. We mentioned the above to the staff and whilst they were always friendly and willing to help when it was a positive, we didn’t find them at all helpful with the negatives we bought to their attention. We are aware they were fully booked that night, however, no resolutions were offered at all. We would stay again if the above was rectified but as a minimum would upgrade our room.

We had the best experience at Hotel Ranga - from the second we checked in to check out, we were treated so special and the staff was kind and helpful. The restaurant is 5/5 too, we ate here 2 nights in a row. Must try the lamb and wild mushroom soup! The hot tubs were so cool looking out over the mountains. We even got to see the northern lights not once but TWICE. The staff made sure we knew when they were out. Stay made!

Hotel Ranga is a lovely rustic style hotel in the countryside. We loved the hot tubs outside our rooms. We also enjoyed the lounge area with games provided. Breakfasts were lovely, dinner menu was nice but limited to the same items each night of our stay.

This is a beautiful lodge with excellent customer service. The food was terrific. We ate there for dinner and breakfast. For dinner, they make a point of saying that it is able to accommodate all guests and reservations are not necessary unless you want a specific time. I would highly recommend you make a reservation. When we checked in, they let us know the only tables left for that evening started at 8pm, which was a little late for us, but we had no choice at that point. At 10pm the astronomer on site did a talk in the observatory on property, and we were so lucky that the northern lights began dancing in the sky after he began his talk. Everyone went outside to photograph them and they were spectacular. We went back inside the hotel at one point to get warm and realized they had put out hot chocolate and they also lend snow suits to guests to wear when viewing the sky. These were two wonderful perks. We saw a fantastic display of the northern lights that night and felt so fortunate. The hotel offers a wake up call if you go to bed early and want to know when the lights are visible. Other nice touches the hotel has are: a personal welcome note, chocolates at bedtime, a postcard you can write and they will mail for you anywhere in the world, and fresh roses on the table in the room. For us, it was well worth the price.

This is an excellent hotel. We stayed there to see the Northern lights and were not disappointed. They give you a wake up call when the lights appear--we saw them right from inside our room. The nightly astronomy lesson was also excellent. They have university-caliber telescopes and informed guides every clear night. The place is remote, so ideal for night sky viewing. And it is closer to the glaciers on the south shore than being in Reykavik. And it is close to the golden circle drive. So there was plenty to do. The food and service at the hotel were outstanding. We would certainly stay there again.
