Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife and daughter in two separate rooms. The room size is certainly larger than most hotels of this category in Japan. Quite well laid out in terms of separation of areas for laundry, kitchen, toilet, bathroom + shower, and basin. An internal door closes off the bedroom from the kitchen, laundry etc. Wardrobe is quite huge. Fridge is quite big. Not a bar fridge. Useful if you planned to cook a lot during your stay. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary appliances and utensils. Hotel requests that you wash all your dishes. Washing machine is huge too with all the bells and whistles of a smart machine. Thoughtful provisions: Dimmable ceiling lights with changeable colour from daylight to cool white and warmwhite via remote control. Daily supply of yukata and bedroom slippers. Daily supply of bottled water in the fridge. Daily supply of laundry detergent and softener. Daily supply of tea bags and coffee powder. More can be self collected at the reception. Big bottles of branded quality liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner, face and hand wash, and body lotion. Disposable shaver, comb, cotton buds, etc available for self collection in the lobby. Hanger dryers in the balcony. Toilet bowl comes with Japanese standard of features. Separate bins for combustible, plastic and discarded food. And umbrellas for loan. Suggestions for improvement: Bedside lamps will be very useful. Towel rail or hooks should be provided outside the bathroom. The one and only tiny towel rail is in the shower area and it gets wet. The black spot at the ground entrance to the lift looks like a chewing gum stucked there for a long time. I am sure it can be easily removed. The lift carpet could be better fitted. Overall: This is a small but a great serviced apartment hotel which is located right next to the bus andl train station that can transport you anywhere. It is clean and well maintained. Staff are very friendly and helpful, even though they communicate mainly in Japanese.

Hotel is in a very good location being very near to the Old Town where the attractions and restaurants are. However there is limited parking space, and we had to park in a public car park 100m away. Staff were friendly, but communication was a little difficult as they were not very conversant in English. Overall nice hotel.

Very convenient, only 5 mins walk from the Takayama Train/bus station. The hotel serves complimentary hot ramen from 9pm to 10.30pm and free coffee at the lobby. The buffet breakfast is so fantastic,. I love the private onsen and the free ice-cream after the onsen. They also provide yukata which can be worn to the onsen and dining area. Footwears have to be removed and stored at the lobby. It's truly an experience and we enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much. Would highly recommend Takayama Ouan.

A new hotel just built in front of Takayama station. It is a stay type hotel, but artists are decorated everywhere and fashionable. This time, Superior twin. The room itself is not particularly characteristic, but there is a sofa on the window side and it can be relaxed. This sofa is a bed, so you can stay for three people. Electric pots, empty refrigerators, washing dryers, microwave ovens, etc. are also complete. Recommended for long stay. The bathroom is small in the unit. Especially the toilet is small. There is a comfortable public bath, so I wanted to relax the toilet part only by shower. Amenities are only toothbrushes, and amenities are available on the first floor. Shaving, brush, tea bags such as tea and green tea, cosmetics, cotton swabs, cotton, etc. The public bath is also fashionable with designer specifications. There is also an open-air bath. I can't comment on value as this was part of a cycle tour with my bike club (BAC) and Cycling Japan, but my room was really lovely and quiet with a great view. I loved the comfy bed and ergonomic desk chair. The onsen was on the top floor and really lovely with inside and outside pools. The staff was super helpful (the manager helped me find and reserve a wonderful dinner choice - Bistro Kanzo) and breakfast was also really good with local items (not your too-often too many overcooked and deep-fried items). Also, a perfect location for exploring Takayama. This is my 4th trip to Japan and I have stayed in so many accommodations on cycling and hiking tours, so I do have some context. For me, Alpina checked all of the boxes: room, view, staff, breakfast, onsen, location.

The atmosphere of the inn was very good, but to get to the room, I had to change elevators twice, walk a long corridor, and finally take the stairs to the upper floor. It is necessary to walk in the opposite direction each time to go to the public bath and to eat. It is difficult for the elderly and those with weak legs. We used the early bird reservation and national travel support to stay cheaper than usual, so I wondered if it was the furthest room (laughs). I couldn't take a long bath slowly, but the person in charge was just checking the temperature, so when I asked, the open-air bath was 42.9 degrees. A small child with a family shouted ”hot, hot” and left early. After all, I only entered the large public bath once, and after that, I adjusted the temperature of the bath in the room. One more thing, all three hair dryers in the public bath did not work even when I pressed the button, so I used the one in the room. When I asked my wife, she said, ``I couldn't use it at first, but someone else told me to use it by pressing the other switch at the back.'' I couldn't use it, maybe it's my fault, I wanted you to write a manual (sorry if I overlooked it)

My favorite hotel in Takayama. The hotel has a sense of design, good service, clean bath (but small) and a lot of Hida pure milk ice cream to eat. There are soft drinks available all day, and you can also try more than a dozen kinds of sake for free. The breakfast is delicious and beautiful. There are also many Hida drinks and milk dairy products to drink. Later we lived in Takayama Sakura. When we wanted to have a drink after the soup at night and found that there was no lemonade at the front desk, we sighed that if we were in wood in this climate, we must have started drinking soft drinks.
