Best Hotels in Tendring District

We were very happy with our stay at Kings cliff hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful during our check-in and when we used the bar in the evening and the restaurant for breakfast. It's fantastically situated on the sea front and was about half an hour walk along the coast from Clacton centre. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy and generally in good condition. Overall a positive experience and a recommendation from me.

Excellent night, Staff are so friendly, kind and helpful, especially Dani and Donna who cheered us up with their lovely mannerisms, the room was cosy and warm, shower was lovely and hot great water flow, I was do comfortable I didn't want to leave.........I Highly recommend this hotel, I will definitely be back

The hotel is currently under renovation on the second floor and can only be taken to the second floor by the staff elevator, so the overall experience is not ideal. The room is relatively small in general. Some service staff will help us to lay the sofa bed for children, but there are not many good hotels here in Yipu, so this is a convenient hotel from the central city. . No breakfast choice, the restaurant looks small. Parking is 7 pounds a night, which is ok.

Very chic hotel with well designed rooms and super smart bathrooms and quality toiletries. Amazing choice at breakfast and all the food was good quality. Staff were very helpful. We have a blue badge and they found a space for us when all the disabled spaces had been filled by non-disabled guests. Convenient location and nice outside space by the river. Pleasant lounge area downstairs and all the guests seemed to be having a great time. We thought it was good value as well.

Absolutely wonderful hotel all round. The room and balcony exceeded my expectations, and really pleased me, and my standards are very high and I submitted some specific requests. Top floor, room 904, advised now this one and 910 very popular. Both the room and balcony a really nice size too. Lovely facilities. Nice view of Colchester castle etc. Nice communal areas. The George hotel communal areas are wonderful too and lovely breakfast, great choice, beautifully cooked, and I requested to sit elsewhere as so many beautiful options, and for me generally and as need my own space, and peace as much as possible, and am still very aware re.COVID-19, I eventually arranged to sit in the lovely courtyard. Too busy and noisy for me in the main restaurant. Exemplary staff. I also really liked the fact that you could switch the bathroom ventilator off, otherwise it comes on when you put the light on. Of course one should always switch it on when using the shower and keep it on briefly afterwards. My first Surya experience. Sublime.

Sofia (‘manager’ if you could call her that !) is nothing but a bully, leaving a poor young PREGNANT girl by herself to show me pictures of restaurants she has been to recently and photos of her puppy ! The young girl (Shannan was her name I believe) was swept off her feet, running around doing a ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING and doing all she could to make my stay wonderful but unfortunately the stay was ruined by Sofia! when Shannan asked for help from Sofia (so called MANAGER!!!) she basically laughed and carried on doing nothing !, Sofia offered no help what so-ever and she should have a serious talking to ! I also heard her talking about Staff members personal lives and antics to other staff members which is not called for what so ever and is not what Customers and guests should be hearing as it is their personal life and she SHOULD NOT be disclosing any of that to anybody at all ! I stayed in February and she was the same, I travel for work often and I often stay at the dragonfly but even since the So called “Manager” Sofia started the place had gone down hill ! Shanna is an absolute star and should be praised to high heaven ! Thank you so much Shannan for going above and beyond for me and many many others !

I have been looking at hotels with my father for a while, and found this hotel to be the best bang for the buck when it comes to location and facilities. Staff was absolutely professional and especially Heather was incredibly helpful when it came to suggestions for places to eat and leisure. Will absolutely stay again and can't wait to see what this place has more to offer

I just wanted to thank you for such a positive experience that I had at your establishment yesterday evening. (01/06/2023) I arrived with my mum, the staff at the initial reception greeted us, explained which directions to take and told us to enjoy our stay. At the spa reception the staff member was warm, informative and professional. She took our details and confirmed the package that I had purchased. Again she wished us a pleasant stay. We used the delightful facilities, I had been worried that I hadn’t booked a treatment but it was so lovely to catch up with my mum in the warm, relaxing and calm environment that has been created. We then took our time having a fabulous shower, using the products that were readily available before we headed to the bar for a drink. Again, the staff here were smart and professional. We settled down in the bar and then ambled around the corner to the restaurant. We were greeted here by a lovely blonde lady, I’m assuming the restaurant manager, who showed us to our table, lighting our lamp and again wishing us a wonderful evening. Looking at the menu, I was a little concerned that there wasn’t anything that I was ‘WOWED’ by. We both (myself and my mother) opted for the tomato and basil soup, I had the pork chop and mum had the chicken. The soup was hot on delivery and so flavourful. The bread accompaniment was absolutely delicious, I would have liked another. We tore it and dolloped large amounts of the delicious butter that came with it. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Our mains then arrived, my mum said that her main was delicious, she was particularly enamoured with the sauce and is hoping that my husband might be able to emulate it. My pork was absolutely delicious, succulent, well seasoned and both of us commented on the large portions we received, this was totally unexpected. For dessert, I had gelato; hazelnut, chocolate and vanilla. Very nice and quite light after my big meal. My mum commented that “this is the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve had in a very long time!” The highest compliments to the chef(s)! I must give a special mention to the waitress, she did give her name but I’m afraid I forgot what she said. She was fabulous, a bubbly personality and ensuring that everyone was happy in her section. She had to work really hard with one couple, so definitely earned her wage last night! She had dark hair, was her name Suzanne? Even when leaving the night receptionist was lovely and helpful when we handed in our locker bracelets. It was an experience that you don’t want to end. The staff could definitely teach other establishments in the area about customer service, it was so refreshing to have all staff members so confident and accommodating. When I arrived at the hotel and saw how nice it was and the staff where lovely too we booked for a second night there and then just in case all the rooms were gone later that night walking to the bar along our corridor was a smell of **** , we went to the spa next morning spoke to a man staff very friendly told us to go back to room to get towels to use the facilities when we returned he said we need a pound coin for the locker did not tell us for time then told me to sign in pointing to a box of pens I used it not realised There’s 2boxes used and clean should be more careful over the COVID-19 then told me to go in jacuzzi and then told me to get back out in front of all customers when I was drowning wet very embarrassing he needs more training that night a child crying all night and all early morning next door no sleep the food was very good and friendly staff and service just needs to sort them issues out
