Asakusa Central Hotel

Ueno/Asakusa Tokyo|0.15km from Kosugiya
I just spent 5 nights in a single room at their main building. I love the location and how it is close to everything in Asakusa. The room was soundproofed so I didn't get the street noise. The housekeeping was done by lovely elderly ladies who leave a bag of neatly folded towels and pyjamas at your door if you have a 'do not disturb' sign out. I didn't sleep very well as the duvet was a little dirty. They use a main duvet and line it with a bedsheet on its underside which means they don't wash the duvet and change only the sheet during room service. I found dust and hairs on the duvet so I requested for extra sheets to put between myself and the duvet. The management should seriously reconsider their bedding, especially for guests who are allergic/sensitive to dust. The front desk staff were helpful enough. Oddly, they refused my request to make a table reservation for a restaurant. I approached 2 staff members and they were adamant about not providing this service to guests. Finally, after much persuasion, I managed to get a lady to very reluctantly make a call to the restaurant. It was a very strange policy. I wish to thank a front desk staff - a young, bespectacled man- who assisted me in booking a taxi on 28 Jan, around 10:45pm and very very kindly took the trouble to take my luggage out in the pouring rain for the taxi. Overall, my one and only complaint is the bedding. Otherwise, I had a good experience and the location can't be beat.

Stayed in Room 305, a 3 Persons Private Room. PROS: The location in Asakusa was fantastic - a 4-minute walk to Tawaramachi Station, a 6-minute walk to Sensō-Ji Temple, and best of all, only a 4-minute walk to SEIYU in Asakusa ROX which is where you should go at night for discounted food! There is free tea, coffee, and water in the lobby 24/7 and the front desk provides one free mask per day. They provide shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. You can ask for toothbrushes and razors at the front desk for free. There is a communal bathroom and kitchen on the 6th floor, which you are welcome to use. Staff was very friendly and building was secured at night. CONS: The Wifi was very weak in the room, but worked okay in the lobby. The water from the shower leaks onto the bathroom floor so be sure to wear flip flops! The bed frames were a bit dusty and the view from the window was not great, but we cannot complain for the price we paid.

the place is a suitable hotel for families and groups of friends. We went in a group of 4 people, inside the room was fully equipped such as kitchen, cooking utensils, microwave, washing machine. Moreover the hotel is very close to convenience stores, and an easy walk to Sensoji Temple. Hotel staff is also very friendly, they are ready to answer all my questions.

Hotel is few minutes from Asakusa and Tawaramachi stations - when travelling with luggage, I think it is more conveniend to use Tawaramachi station. Despite the hotel is really minutes from bustling Asakusa and Kaminarimon Gate, it is quiet side street. Hotel is small, with only two room on each floor. Lobby and rooms are decorated with beautiful obi belts instead of your usual paitings or photos. Electric kettle in room, in lobby they offer tea, coffee, there is also microwave oven. In room is very spacious in-build closet that can fit the luggage. In the bathroom are shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand+face foam soap. Amenities to take at reception. Slippers and sleeprobe provided. My room had unfortunately fire escape window meaning it could be opened only from outside and I didn't found if it is possible to open it somehow. But not a thing that would make my stay unpleasant. Probably due to 24hour air-conditioning in bathroom (its switch was under plastic cover so I didn't dare to turn it off) there was constant background noise, but nothing that would prevent me from sleep. I like my stay there very much.

The front desk was very helpful. The reserved room was very quiet and could see the beautiful Skytree. It was great! From Narita Airport, you can take the train directly to Sensoji Station and then walk to the hotel. It is a long distance but acceptable. The exit of the Ginza Line is very close to the hotel, which is great. It is very convenient to go to Ueno and Ginza. The room is not too big, but it is no problem for a family of three. Two large boxes can be opened. We did not ask for it, but we cleaned and changed toiletries every day. I tried two breakfasts on the first and second floors, both were delicious. Especially on the second floor, there is a sister who can speak Chinese and explains to us in detail how to match it. You can also eat whatever you want with vegetables and bread. I will continue to stay here when I come to Tokyo in the future!
