Zhongwei Bei Dao Bay B&B

The most delightful surprise of my Zhongwei trip was Beidaowan Homestay. My child even said it was more fun than staying at the Star Hotel. This homestay is tucked away within the Yellow River Suji complex. Its rammed earth courtyards, blended with Xixia-style architecture, make every photo op feel like a stunning, atmospheric shot of the Northwest. Each room comes with a private courtyard or terrace, offering complete privacy. The rooms are spacious, featuring comfortable King Koil mattresses that guarantee a good night's sleep. Amenities like Acca Kappa toiletries and Dyson hair dryers are on par with high-end hotels. Soaking in the outdoor bath on the terrace while gazing at the Yellow River and Great Wall in the distance was incredibly relaxing. We booked a room with a bathtub, which was perfect for our family, and my child had a blast. The butler service was thoughtful and attentive; they even gave us handmade zongzi for the Dragon Boat Festival, which was a pleasant surprise. They proactively added us on WeChat to provide directions and were super responsive to any requests. We enjoyed morning strolls by the Yellow River to catch the sunrise, evening climbs up the Ming Great Wall to admire the sunset over the river, and nights spent sitting in the courtyard under a sky full of stars. Breakfast offered authentic Zhongwei flavors, with fragrant and delicious dishes like sand onions and lamb offal soup. Nearby, you can also try pottery making and feeding small animals. It's suitable for both couples and families, providing a refreshing escape from city life. This is definitely my top choice for accommodation in Zhongwei, and I'll be back again!

The room was very spacious and beautiful, with a unique style. We went during the Spring Festival, so it wasn't crowded and many shops were closed, but the service was excellent and the facilities were complete. I'd definitely choose to stay here again if I have the chance.

The room was unique, the bed was comfortable, and the receptionist was very helpful, even picking us up in the evening. However, I have to complain about some of the facilities and amenities. First, the soaking tub on the terrace was huge, but when we tried to fill it at night, the water level was surprisingly low. After an hour and a half, it only reached our ankles. At this rate, it would take until midnight to fill it, and by then the water would be completely cold, so we had to give up. Then, when we turned off the lights, the room was filled with a green glow, which was terrifying. I've never seen an emergency exit warning light installed in a room before. Also, the bay window was so small, and there was no bedding, making it impossible to sit or watch TV. The curtains on the bed were also problematic; when they came down, they were right in front of our faces, forcing us to wear a veil to sleep. Finally, the air conditioner unit was right above the lounge chair on the terrace, making it noisy, leaking, and completely soaked, rendering it unusable. I strongly suggest improvements to these issues!

Let’s not talk about the mud mountain road that goes into the mountain on the edge of the cliff. After all, there is nothing we can do about the road closure. It’s really crazy to have this kind of light on in a room that costs nearly 1,600 a night in the middle of the night. The quilt is too thick and hot and I can’t sleep. It’s like being taken advantage of. Remember

The hotel's location is quite remote; you must have your own car or hire a private vehicle. Getting out of the hotel area after entering it can be very troublesome. It was my first time in Northwest China, so I treated it as an experience. For a room rate of over 3000 yuan, there were practically no services besides the service group.

The guesthouse has been open for a while, and the facilities are well-maintained. However, the cleanliness of the indoor floors and the mosquito and insect control measures need improvement. Overall, the stay experience was quite good. It's located within the guesthouse community, which is a nice area to explore, and the breakfast at the restaurant partnered with the guesthouse is decent. The rooftop terrace is great for stargazing; it's breathtaking on a clear day. The location is indeed a bit remote; if you don't have a car, you'll need to call a taxi to get around.
