Recently, we embarked on a rainy day escapade in Bordeaux, and despite the weather, it turned out to be an unforgettable experience filled with wine, culinary delights, and unexpected discoveries. Undeterred by the rain, we opted for a unique mode of transport – a boat to the Cité du Vin. Priced the same as a tram ride, the boat journey proved to be much more entertaining, offering panoramic views of Bordeaux along the river. The city unfolded before us, revealing its charm even in the midst of raindrops. Our first stop, the Cité du Vin, left us in awe of its modernity and interactivity. The exhibitions were immersive, providing a journey through the world of wine with a contemporary twist. The pièce de résistance was the free glass of wine awaiting us on the rooftop, where we could savor Bordeaux's finest while overlooking the entire city, rain-kissed and glistening. Next on our agenda was the bustling Les Halles Bacalan market, right next door. Despite the crowds, we navigated our way through, finding a spot to indulge in culinary delights. Adventurous taste buds led us to try snails, oysters, and of course, more red wine – because, in Bordeaux, there's no such thing as too much wine, even on a rainy day. Our exploration continued with a leisurely walk around the city, each step revealing Bordeaux's architectural charm and cultural richness. As the day concluded, we treated ourselves to a beautiful meal at Les Drôles, where a prix fixe menu awaited. The ambiance, coupled with the delectable dishes, provided the perfect ending to our Bordeaux adventure. Rain or shine, Bordeaux showcased its allure, proving that even on a wet day, the city has a unique charm waiting to be discovered.
