Changting Ancient City, also known as Tingzhou Ancient City, is located in Changting, Longyan, Fujian, at the southern foot of the Wuyi Mountains, close to Guangdong in the south and adjacent to Jiangxi in the west. It is the hub of the ancient roads of the three provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangxi, and the key point of the border, known as the "Western Gate of Fujian". Tingzhou Ancient City is a national historical and cultural city, the world's Hakka capital, a national AAAA-level scenic spot, and one of the five famous states in Fujian during the Tang Dynasty. It was built in the 24th year of Kaiyuan in the Tang Dynasty (736 AD). In 1994, it was awarded the title of National Historical and Cultural City, one of the four famous cities in Fujian. It was praised by international friend Louis Alley as "China's most beautiful mountain city", and it was historically the location of the state and county road mansion. It is the central hub and commercial town connecting Ganzhou and Meizhou, known as "Changfanfu, no less than Jiangzhe Zhongzhou". Known as the capital of Hakka in Fujian, in 2004, the China Cooking Association awarded Changting County the title of "Hometown of Hakka Cuisine in China", and won the title of "Famous Food City in Fujian".
