Zhaohua Ancient City

Zhaohua, formerly known as 'Jiameng', has a history of 4000 years. It is the best preserved ancient city from the Three Kingdoms period in China, and one of the earliest places in China to implement the county system. It is known as the 'First County of Bashu, Second Capital of Shu Kingdom'. Zhaohua Ancient City originally had four equally magnificent city gates, the East Gate (Zhanfeng Gate), the West Gate (Linqing Gate), the North Gate (Gongji Gate), and the South Gate (Linjiang Gate) was destroyed in the Qing Dynasty. We entered Zhaohua Ancient City from the 'Zhanfeng' East Gate. At this time, the ancient city was full of red lanterns🏮, and the New Year atmosphere was there. Zhaohua Storytelling Hall: You can go to Zhaohua Storytelling Hall, drink a bowl of tea while listening to the stories of the Three Kingdoms. Its classic work 'Jiameng Guan Zhang Fei Lantern Fight Ma Chao' and others take you back to the era of heroes. It starts at nine o'clock in the morning, two o'clock in the afternoon and eight o'clock in the evening every day. County Hall: Also known as Qinmin Hall, it is the public hall where the county magistrate openly tries cases. Here, the scene of case judgment is reproduced, with red and green head signs, shocking wooden blocks, and mirrors hanging high, every detail is filled with the breath of history. During the tourist season, there are performances of county officials handling cases and other live-action dramas. Examination Shed: The Zhaohua Examination Shed, rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty, witnessed the rise and fall of the imperial examination system, and once accommodated the examination rooms for candidates from four counties. You can play various roles in person here, or you can take an exam paper to see if you can pass the exam. Zhaohua West Market: A newly built cultural and tourism experience site, passing through the market along the Jinniu Road, composed of 18 Siheyuan. The more characteristic project → immersive interactive drama 'Jiameng Spring and Autumn', performed by local people, vividly depicts the glorious history of Zhaohua Ancient City from the 'First County of Bashu' to the 'Second Capital of Shu Kingdom', allowing tourists to deeply experience the prosperity of ancient times and the sword light. Tickets: There is no charge to enter the ancient city, but you need to buy tickets to enter and visit six attractions including the county government, examination shed, Wen Temple, Jinghou Shrine, city gate tower, and Sword Dam Jun Chen Garden.
