Birch Memorial Clock Tower

If you find yourself in Ipoh, walking along the Heritage Trail should be one of the highlights. The Birch Memorial Clock Tower stands out apart from other structures as it serves as a reminder of a murdered British "Resident" or in other words, an appointed colonial political governor. Located in Ipoh's older sector, it is surrounded by notable buildings such as the State Mosque, several heritage bank buildings, the Ipoh Town Hall/ Old Post Office and Ipoh Courthouse. The Padang Ipoh is also within a short walking distance. The many closed food stalls located within the open square surrounding the clock tower are probably an afterthought as it doesn't seem to be integrated well. #malaysia
