A Glimpse of Gansu Gongyuan (1)

Gansu Gongyuan, also known as Gansu Juyuan, is located inside the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University in Chengguan District, Lanzhou. According to records, it was originally built in the first year of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1875). It originally covered an area of 130,000 square meters, facing east to west. Now, the remaining structures include the Zhi Gong Tang and Guan Cheng Tang halls, as well as the Ming Yuan Building. Approaching the newly renovated Gongyuan, one can see the three large characters of 'Zhi Gong Tang' written by Zuo Zongtang hanging below the hall's lintel. The characters are dignified and striking. Inside the courtyard, the ground is level and quiet, with the black and red doors and windows standing out in their solemnity. The grey-tiled roofs and the intricate and elaborate painted decorations make it a rare spot for both admiration and leisure.
