MILAN’s CASTLE

The Visconti and Sforza families ruled Milan from 1277 to 1447 and 1450 to 1535, respectively. The Castello Sforzesco was built in 1368 and rebuilt in 1450. The 70-meter Torre de Filarete is a replica of the original gate-tower built in 1905. The Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco) was erected as a castle in the fourteenth century and is one of Milan's most iconic landmarks. It currently contains one of the city's greatest museums. The Musei del Castello Sforzesco, a collection of museums, includes one dedicated to sculpture. The Pietà Rondanini, Michelangelo's final masterwork, was transferred here from the Palazzo Rondanini in Rome in 1953. #travellater #travelling #milan #italy #cityoverlook
