Mingguang Nushan Lake Volcano Ecological Fish Winter Fishing Festival

On January 23, the side of Nushan Lake in Mingguang, Anhui was crowded and lively. Amid the cheerful drum music, the third Nushan Lake Volcano Ecological Fish Winter Fishing Festival in Mingguang officially kicked off. This winter fishing mainly catches bighead carp, catfish, grass carp and other four major domestic fish. Nushan Lake is the second largest freshwater lake in Anhui, located on the right bank of the Huai River, eight kilometers north of Mingguang Town, and is formed by the accumulation of water in a local depression in the Tanlu Fault Zone. The Nushan Geological Park by the lake is a well-preserved ancient volcano mouth in the world, with high aesthetic and research value. Blessed by volcanic geology, Nushan Lake is rich in aquatic plants, and the water is clear, very suitable for the growth of fish, shrimp, crabs and other aquatic animals and plants. The lake is rich in plankton, and the farmed fish and crabs do not need artificial feeding, and the crabs produced are of excellent quality. The key part of the Winter Fishing Festival is the Lake Respecting Ceremony, which aims to worship the lake god, awaken the winter net, pray for the endless reproduction of all living beings, and the happiness of the people's life. Nushan Lake covers an area of about 500,000 acres, using large lake surface ecological breeding, achieving 'human release and natural breeding, clear water fish farming'. On the day, the first net of the Winter Fishing Festival caught about 20,000 jin of fish. The three largest fish were selected as 'head fish' for auction, and the heaviest one was auctioned for 198,000 yuan.
