Fenghua Xikou Jiang Clan Ancestral Hall, a temple renovated and expanded by Chiang Kai-shek

Fenghua Xikou Town involves the Jiang Clan ancestral temples and activity places such as Wushan Temple, Mahavira Hall, and Jiang Clan Ancestral Hall, and the one truly used by the Jiang Clan is the Jiang Clan Ancestral Hall. The Jiang Clan Ancestral Hall was originally very small, and it was later renovated and expanded by Chiang Kai-shek with his own funds. The area is larger than his former residence Fengrao Room, and it is magnificent and spectacular, convenient for clan members to worship ancestors and watch operas. There are rooms on both sides of the Jiang Clan Ancestral Hall, which can accommodate more than ten clan families. The door is hung with a plaque of 'Loyalty and Filial Piety Passed Down the Family', written by Chiang Kai-shek himself (see Figure 1). On December 12, 1936, the Xi'an Incident occurred, and the news that Chiang Kai-shek was detained reached Xikou. His half-brother Jiang Jieqing was watching a play in Wushan Temple. After hearing the news, he was frightened and had a sudden cerebral infarction and died. After the peaceful resolution of the Xi'an Incident, Chiang Kai-shek returned to Xikou to recuperate. He personally presided over Jiang Jieqing's funeral in the Jiang Clan Ancestral Hall. Lin Sen, Feng Yuxiang, Yan Xishan and others attended. Zhang Xueliang, who lost his freedom in life, also paid tribute to the spirit. On December 12, 1939, Chiang Kai-shek's original wife Mao Fumei was bombed to death by a Japanese plane, and the funeral was also held in the 'Jiang Clan Ancestral Hall'. Today, in addition to displaying the historical traces of the Jiang family, the Jiang Clan Ancestral Hall also exhibits pictures of the Taiwan issue jointly produced by the State Council Taiwan Office and the Press Office, as well as explanatory texts, vividly showing the Taiwan issue and its history, current situation and development trend.
