6 things you must know before going to Kala Jun

1⃣️Kala Jun is in Tekes County, Yili River Valley, Xinjiang, and is one of the most spectacular spots in the northern Xinjiang loop. You need to transit to Tekes in Urumqi before you can take a bus to get there. 2⃣️The best time to visit Kala Jun is from June to September in summer. At this time, the grassland turns green and is full of flowers. In June, you can still see the snow-capped mountains with un-melted snow. 3⃣️Kala Jun is only 30 kilometers away from Tekes, and it only takes half an hour to drive. You can take a bus to get there. The ticket price, including the shuttle bus, is 140 yuan per person. You can also ride a horse in the scenic area, but it costs extra, 50 yuan per time. 4⃣️The scenic spots you will pass in order when entering the scenic area: Exhibition Center—Flower Stand—Falcon Stand, and the scenery becomes more and more spectacular as you go further. The last bus in the scenic area that goes back and forth between the three spots leaves around 6 o'clock, so don't miss the time. 5⃣️I highly recommend hiking to the Falcon Stand, especially the Kuerdai Forest Canyon on the east side. From the canyon lookout, you can overlook the beautiful forest and snow mountain scenery, as well as the endless sea of flowers. It's the most unforgettable scenery I've seen in Xinjiang✨ 6⃣️Some of the northern Xinjiang loops do not have the Kala Jun route. You need to negotiate with the charter driver and fellow tourists. Personally, I think this is one of the must-visit spots in Yili, as well as the Qiongkushitai village 40 kilometers away.
