Shangri-La Balagezong, a feast for the eyes and soul!
⛰Balagezong was once a place that could not be found on any map in the world, isolated from the world for more than 1300 years, known as the ultimate secret of Shangri-La, this winter finally set foot in this mysterious land.
🚕Transportation
At the Diqing Tourism Group Visitor Service Center in Dukezong Ancient City, you can buy round-trip bus tickets and entrance tickets on site, and the journey takes about 1 hour.
🔥Scenic Area Tour
✨After arriving at the scenic area, you need to take the scenic area bus. It is recommended to go directly to the pagoda, and you need to buy a separate ticket for 75 at the Echo Wall scenic spot to go up to the Shangbala Pagoda.
✨The altitude of the scenic area ranges from more than 2000 meters to 4200 meters, the altitude difference is very large, and the scenery along the way is different. The snow-capped mountains, prayer flags, wasteland, canyons, and forests in winter can be described as magnificent.
✨The Shangbala Pagoda has snow all winter, and you can see the Qudeng Mountain that looks like a round pagoda, this natural pagoda is particularly shocking in the vast snow.
✨Then go down the mountain to the Echo Wall, the canyon scenery is very spectacular, you can experience the canyon zip line, thrilling. There is also a cliff path on the cliff, which was the passage between the upper Balage village and the Nagla village upstream of the canyon.
🌟Tips
1️⃣The pagoda is 4250 meters above sea level, it is recommended not to engage in intense exercise.
2️⃣The temperature difference is large in sunny days, it is recommended to keep warm.
3️⃣The scenic area is all mountain roads, friends who get carsick should prepare motion sickness medicine in advance.

Shangri-La | Balagezong, the once lost hidden world
Shangri-La | Balagezong, the once lost hidden world.
Most hidden worlds are usually out of reach. In the deepest part of Shangri-La, a place that was once impossible to find on a map, there are spectacular canyons, clear streams, ancient villages and strange geological wonders. Now it has a magical name - Balagezong.
📌Origin: Legend has it that Gezong Snow Mountain is the protector of Shangri-La, and Balagezong is a sacred place that everyone yearns for but cannot reach. It has been isolated from the world for thousands of years. When Snadindzhu was young, he had the opportunity to leave the mountains for the first time because of an eye injury. After becoming wealthy, he spent all his family wealth, carried a huge debt, and spent ten years building this plateau sky road, allowing the world to see the true face of Balagezong.
🧭Explore the hidden world:
Take a sightseeing car up the mountain from the main entrance, and the winding mountain road with dozens of big turns makes people sigh at the difficulty of this project. The view from the air is quite shocking.
Recommended itinerary: Millennium Bodhi Tree - Echo Wall - Xiangbala Stupa (optional) - Bala Village - Shangri-La Grand Canyon.
📍Xiangbala Stupa: The mountain is the stupa, and the stupa is the mountain; rock walls, stupas, snow mountains, wastelands, prayer flags, etc. are integrated into a paradise in the depths of the 4000-meter-high plateau. After a heavy snowfall, it is even more silver-clad and particularly sacred.
📍Bala Village: A Tibetan village with a history of more than 1300 years, surrounded by high mountains, retains the traditional ethnic style. A small museum records the bits and pieces of the Ancient Tea Horse Road. The butter dirty of 'Hidden Mountain Bathing Wild' coffee is a hit on the internet. Outside the window is the stupa under the mountains, and a few kittens are leisurely. There are several hotels in the village, which is the best place to watch the sunrise over the Golden Mountain in the morning.
📍Shangri-La Grand Canyon: The rugged terrain, the huge drop, the diverse ecology, the naturally formed plateau canyon, is a gift from heaven to Balagezong. Either walk along the plank road and enjoy the cliffs, waterfalls and deep valleys. Or drift down, fresh and exciting, feel the heartbeat of nature.
📍Millennium Bodhi Tree: The thousand-year-old Bodhi tree at the entrance welcomes guests. Despite the wind and rain, it is still full of vitality. The small trunk sprouts a large number of branches and leaves, covering a whole cliff.
📍Echo Wall: The natural huge mountain recess is named for its loud echo. Along the suspended plank road on the cliff, you can overlook the Shangri-La Grand Canyon and the snow-capped mountains. The Sky Mirror at the end is like a blue high-altitude swimming pool. Looking down is very exciting, and you can also experience the high-altitude zip line, flying on the top of the plateau.
In Balagezong, you can feel the grandeur and mystery of nature, and also understand the depth and colorfulness of minority culture. The trip to Shangri-La might as well add this stop.
Transportation & Tickets
🚗It takes about 2 hours to drive from Dukezong Ancient City, the ticket is 170 yuan, and 165 yuan online.
🎫The package ticket is 225 yuan, including the ticket and the bus from Dukezong Ancient City to the scenic area and the shuttle bus in the scenic area.
The ticket to Xiangbala Stupa needs to be bought separately at the Echo Wall scenic spot for 75, highly recommended. Shangri-La Balagezong Scenic Area

Shangri-La's final secret realm, Balagezong
Balagezong, a secret realm that was once unfindable on any map, is full of miracles everywhere, the Buddha's hand stretched out by the thousand-year-old Bodhi tree, the natural sacred mountain that resembles a stupa, and the character Sna Dingzhu who seems like the chosen one.
Sna Dingzhu is the founder of the Balagezong scenic area and the hero who changed the fate of Bara Village for 1300 years. The former Bara Village was almost isolated from the world. It took five days to get out of the mountains. If someone got sick, they could only die on the road. Sna Dingzhu's one eye was injured and delayed treatment and completely blinded when he was a child. Since then, he has dreamed of building a road for Bara Village. At the age of 13, he went out to do business, fought for more than 20 years, accumulated tens of millions of wealth all used to go home to build roads, spent ten years, carried a huge debt, and finally had this life road of Bara Village. Since then, the world map finally has Balagezong.

Balagezong: A hidden beauty of China
If you’re in Yunnan province, make sure to take a trip up to Shanghai-la for some of the most incredible sights, food, and experiences you’ll ever have. Meet real Tibetan people, see mountains that make Shanghai’s sky scrapers look like children’s toys, and witness beauty unlike anything you’ve ever seen. This is a trip not many foreigners will get to experience but it’s well worth the difficult journey for the once in a life time experience. #yunnan #Shangri-la #china #chinatravel

Balagezong Grand Canyon Park
Balagezong Grand Canyon park is located about 1.5-2 hours drive from Shangri-La, towards the north. The park contains some of the following scenic areas and attractions:
- Tibetan Cultural Experience Center
- Bala Village
- Echo Wall High-Altitude Glass Skywalk
- Shambara Natural Pagoda
- Gallery Road
- Bodhi Tree
Since the park is very big and steep, it is required to use the shuttle buses of the park to go from place to place.
The Tibetan Cultural Experience Center is actually a Tibetan Buddhist temple, which you can enter and even go up to the second floor.
The Bala Village does not seem to be a real village. It is a complex of buildings belonging to a hotel inside the park. In the village there are two restaurants, one is the hotel's, and a second one sells traditional Tibetan food.
The Echo Wall High-Altitude Glass Skywalk is reached after a relatively short hike along a path attached to the side of a cliff. From the skywalk you will be able to see a big part of the canyon. No one in the group that I traveled with attempted to shout in order to hear an echo. On the way back you can ride on a zipline for an extra fee.
To go to Shambara Natural Pagoda you have to pay an extra fee (I'm not sure if it's 75 or 100RMB). Since I chose not to go there, I'm not sure what there is to see. According to the pictures I saw, it is a mountain peak in the shape of a Pagoda.
The Gallery Road is a raised road along the river flowing in the canyon. The water there is crystal clear and flows rapidly. After walking about half an hour, you reach a boat house at the end of the road, where for an additional 100RMB you can choose to take a rubber boat back to the beginning of the gallery.
The Bodhi Tree is located near the parking lot of the park, outside the park entrance. It is an ancient holy tree (a few thousand years old) growing on a cliff wall.
The road to the park is beautiful, and I would consider it part of the attraction.

A day at the holy mountain
📜🏞️History records that many centuries ago Tibetan people searched for a place to live far away from war and misery.
🏘️🏔️ They settled down in what is now called Balagezong after overcoming much difficulty, and Bala became the symbol of an ideal home and paradise.
🧞The legend on the other hand, states that many years ago, hidden within what is now a National Park was a remote village called Bala. The village had no contact with the outside world until one day a small boy, a blacksmith's apprentice, got hurt while welding molten metal. In order to receive medical treatment his father took him to Shangri-la. It was then that the boy saw a glimpse of civilization for the first time - roads, shops, temples. Amazed by what he saw he spent over 3 decades accumulating wealth and investing it into his birthplace despite the anger and despise he received from the locals. His biggest challenge was building a road that would connect the Bala village to the rest of the world. The challenging topography mage the road building impossible but after many years of hard work the work was done.
🗓️Today Bala Village is a part of the Balagezong National Park.
And it was the second stop of our tour.
1️⃣The shuttle bus first took us to Shambhala Stupa scenic area.
2️⃣From there we went to the mentioned village of Bala before
3️⃣ spending some time at the scenic area (or Echo Wall).
4️⃣Our last stop was the Grand Canyon and keep in mind, it took half of the day to complete a tour.
We have started at 8:30 am and finished at 16:30. For hiking lovers it would take much longer, if you wish to complete the hiking tour AND see all the above listed places.
🪷 To say it's worth the visit would be an understatement. Keep in mind, the Tibetans searched for a perfect place to build their home, and chose this location for that exact reason.

Balagezong Grand Canyon
to getting there, it's pretty easy, organized by a tourist group, by taxi (don't know the cost) and from Shangrila it's about 2 hours, so it's possible to do in one day
there's also one hotel inside the park if someone wants to spend the night over there
in the village there are some restaurants.
the tour will take one day and the scheduled is fixed as it's not possible to use the own car, it's necessary to take the internal bus, so if you want to enjoy some place (there are different stops), you can't.
there's also a zip line, which I recommend to do as the view is amazing and it's pretty long

Breathing in pure oxygen
Getting There - From the Information centre at Dukezong Ancient Town, get on a bus at 09:00. There is no need to book, we just showed up and it seems there are so many options. Tickets were ¥220 for a round trip to Balagezong Grand Canyon and includes the entry to the scenic area. It is about an hour and a half drive through a pass - the views are spectacular which makes the long drive worth it!
Attractions - After arriving, the bus will stop at each scenic spot, all you have to do is get off and take in the great views and nature!
Food & Restaurants - There are plenty of local food options to choose from but I would recommend trying the small tea house. They serve trafitional Tibetan butter tea, vinegar wine - as they call it (tastes like spirits or similar to vodka to me) and dried yak meat. We tried the fried fermented milk, butter tea, buckweat bread and yak meat which was enough and rich in flavor!
At around 17:30, you get back on the bus after seeing 5 different scenic spots and arrive back at Dukezong Ancient Town at around 19:00. There was never a minute where we felt rushed, bored or didn’t know what to do! This trip layout is perfect for any local or tourist and a must do!

Hidden gem in Shangril-la, Yunnan
Shangri-la in Yunnan province is no doubt a beautiful place to visit. It’s one of the most well known tourist heaven so many sites are popular and sometimes crowded. I have visited there twice before so I wanted to see something lesser known. Owner of our hotel recommended Balagezong National Park to us, which turned out to be my favorite spot of the trip. The road to and inside the park was personally financed by a former villager lived inside this valley, who determined to improve life of those still in the village. It was done and opened to public as a national park only around 10 years ago, which is comparatively new in Shangri-la. Scenery inside the park is simply stunning. Designated tourist bus brought us first to the top of the valley to enjoy the view from above. The hanging walkway built on rock looked scary but it offered an excellent view of the massive gorge, which lead us to a glass bottom viewing platform. Be prepared if you are scared of height. Final stop was deep down the gorge, walking along the river on the beautiful walkway was healing and brought us close to nature. Highly recommended for everyone who plans to visit Shangri-la.

Looking for a great place for a fall hike? I was blown away by Balagezong National Park near Shangri-La in Yunnan Province. It’s simply spectacular and best enjoyed in the late fall after tourist season. The number of guests is far lower and everything much nicer that way. It takes a solid day to visit. #mynovgetaway

Balgzon Grand Canyon, also known as the Shangri-La Grand Canyon, is picturesque, tranquil and mysterious. There are deep canyons, winding snow-capped mountains, dense vegetation, steep rock faces, and millennial linden trees and naturally formed stupas. It is said that the Blue Moon Canyon described in "The Lost Horizon" is here. In the hearts of local Tibetans, Balaguezong is the place where the gods live.

If you are confused,
go to Balagezong for answers!
-
Every trip to Shangri-La,
is like reading a book about growth
The mountain wind whips the prayer flags
It's like stepping into a fairyland forgotten by time
I pray under the Xiangbala Buddha Pagoda and the snowy mountains
This is also the faith of the Tibetan people!
-
Balage Village is a millennium-old village,
Here, heaven and earth are home🏠,
With snowy mountains and forests as friends,
It quietly lives in harmony with the world,
99 bends seem to lead to the sacred sky road,
Witnessing the people coming and going
-
Sitting in a Tibetan wooden house by the fire🔥,
The perfect combination of a coffee shop and a Tibetan butter tea house
Makes one feel as if they are in a warm haven
-
Walking through the 21-degree Mother Tan City,
Feeling the mysterious religious atmosphere,
And that thousand-year-old Bodhi tree,
Its Buddha's hand stretches into the valley
As if showing the world its vitality.
The grandeur of the Shangri-La Grand Canyon,
The magic of the Echo Wall
Every place is a healing sanctuary for the soul

Barag Zong Music Festival, a feast of music!
✨Wow! This May Day, the 6th Barag Zong Music Festival will completely drive people crazy! Right in the mysterious and beautiful valley of Barag Zong, a carnival of music is being staged! 🎶
🎈The atmosphere of the music festival is super awesome! Musicians from all over gather together, telling stories with their notes and weaving dreams with their melodies. Here, there is both the charm of traditional ethnic music and the trendy feel of modern music, it's simply a palace of music! 🎼
🌹What surprises me the most is that the music festival has also integrated many environmental elements. Eco-friendly tents, energy-saving lighting, biodegradable tableware, etc., all highlight the concept of green and environmental protection. Here, where music meets environmental protection, it is wonderfully exquisite! 💚
🌸Besides music, Barag Zong also has many beautiful landscapes. The lakes, snow-capped mountains, and forests in the valley, every corner is like a painting. Listening to music here is like being in a fairyland on earth. 🏞️

Balagezong Travel Guide
"The Super Detailed Travel Guide to Balagezong" ||| Balagezong, a place that once didn't even appear on the map, is located at the junction of Sichuan, Tibet, and Yunnan.
It has an altitude range from 2050 meters to 5545 meters.
The scenic area is full of winding mountain roads, which were built by a Balage local named Sina Dangzhu with a huge investment. There's a very touching story, which the scenic area's shuttle bus will show in a video for passengers, so I won't go into too much detail here.
When you see the snow-capped mountains, canyons, rivers, and forests intertwined with each other, you are truly shocked by the picturesque and majestic scenery, and you can't help but marvel at the wonders of nature and admire Sina Dangzhu's perseverance in road building, which allows us to see such a mystical paradise.
Words can't express the feelings, every casual snapshot is a masterpiece, no filter needed!
🔹Transportation:
The scenic area is quite far from the center of Shangri-La city, it is recommended to drive for 1.5 hours or take the scenic area's shuttle bus from the Dukezong Ancient Town.
🔹Ticket:
170 RMB per person, including the shuttle bus within the scenic area.
▪️Currently open attractions and the recommended order of visit within the scenic area:
① Millennium Bodhi Tree (outside the scenic area, next to the ticket office)
② Balagezong Buddha Stupa
③ Balage Village
④ Echo Wall (with a glass walkway, an additional 1 RMB for shoe covers)
⑤ Shambhala Stupa (snow mountain, with significant temperature differences and high altitude)
⑥ Shangri-La Grand Canyon
🔸Suggested time for visit: 1 day.
🔺Important notes:
1. The scenic area is particularly large, and only Balage Village has a café and such, where prices are relatively expensive. It is recommended to bring your own food and drinks.
2. After entering the ticket gate, you directly board the scenic area's shuttle bus, which comes with a dedicated driver and tour guide who will accompany you throughout the visit. At each attraction, you will be informed of the visiting time, and after visiting, you return to the bus to go to the next attraction (remember the license plate number), forming a small tour group. It's essential to be punctual, otherwise, the driver will leave and you'll have to wait for the next bus, which is a waste of time and may not have a seat for you.
3. At the Echo Wall, there are two options:
- After visiting the Echo Wall, continue up the mountain to the Shambhala Stupa, which is a 1.5-hour round trip by bus. Here, you need to switch to a special shuttle bus for the mountain, which departs every hour. Remember to bring warm clothes and an oxygen bottle.
- After visiting the Echo Wall, go directly down the mountain to the Shangri-La Grand Canyon and return.
4. Actually, one day of visiting time is quite rushed, and we didn't have time to go to the Shambhala Stupa. If you have plenty of time, you can choose to stay in the scenic area, although the conditions might be a bit basic, and you won't need to pay for a ticket to re-enter the scenic area the next day.

Balagezong | Traverse mountains and rivers, the world is worthwhile
35 kilometers of mountain roads, 52 hairpin bends, and thus the name Balagezong appeared on the map.
🎫: I booked the trip directly at the inn, took the bus at the parking lot east of the ancient city gate next to the inn. It includes round-trip bus, in-scenic area bus, and stupa ticket.
Itinerary: Depart at 9 am, the whole journey takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes to 2 hours.
After arriving at the scenic area, the driver will tell everyone which bus to take back at the latest. It is recommended to sit on the left side on the way there, and on the right side on the way back.
Route:
1️⃣ Balazhuomala Kang: There are explanations here. There are 8 white pagodas at the entrance, from where you can overlook Balage Village (ps. What I don't like here is the explanation, which takes too long, and when I wanted to pray on my own, I was interrupted, most of the time was spent on 'selling' blessing cards. Everyone just go with the flow and volunteer, haha.)
2️⃣ Balage Village: You can eat here and overlook the stupa. I ate at Yinshan Muye, and the view from the window on the second floor is really nice.
3️⃣ Echo Wall: Transfer here to go to the stupa, if you haven't bought a stupa ticket, you can also buy one here.
4️⃣ Stupa: It takes 1 hour by car to get to the stupa, but it's really worth a visit. The mountains meet here like a conference, very spectacular. The deepest snow can reach waist height, and it's very fun to play in the snow.
5️⃣ Echo Wall: (Due to time constraints, I skipped this spot) It's a plank road where you can enjoy the scenery, and at the end, you can take a cable car (💰120 yuan)
6️⃣ Grand Canyon: You can also walk on a plank road here, and at the end, you can go canyon drifting (💰120 yuan)
7️⃣ Main Entrance: You can go see the thousand-year-old Bodhi tree.
I first learned about this place from the Reader episode featuring Si Na Dingzhu. The scenic area bus still plays the story about Balagezong, and walking on this road, watching this segment again, is still very touching.

Balagezong
I never thought that this would be the most surprising stop on my Shangri-La journey.
⏳Tour Time: 2 days
🌟Highlights:
📍Shambhala Pagoda At an altitude of over 4000 meters, it takes 30 minutes by scenic area bus from the Echo Wall, the mountain road is rugged, it is recommended to bring plastic bags, staff say that in winter (usually December to March of the following year) it may be impossible to reach due to thick snow or ice on the road, so make sure to plan your time well, it's definitely worth a visit!
📍Echo Wall The Cliff Miracle Hotel I stayed at offers 1 person's rafting or cable car ride, the cable car costs 40💰, rafting costs 120💰, if you want to experience both, it's more cost-effective to pay for the cable car yourself.
📍Shangri-La Grand Canyon The hotel arranges for a car to take you to the entrance of the attraction, if you have luggage, staff will arrange for it to be stored in a designated place, you can pick it up after the tour. The hiking distance is not far, the scenery along the way is very good, and you can choose to raft on the way back.
📍Thousand-Year Bodhi Tree After visiting the Grand Canyon, take the scenic area bus to the entrance of the Balagezong scenic area, where there is a thousand-year-old Bodhi tree, famous for a Buddha's hand growing out of its roots, now the perimeter has been fenced off, and you can only use your phone to zoom in for a look.
📝Note tips:
1️⃣Due to limited conditions, there are not many hotels in the village, and there are few restaurant choices, so you can bring your own food, and the hotel can also order meals, but the taste is generally bland.
2️⃣If you stay in a hotel within the scenic area, the hotel will arrange for a butler to create a group to notify you of the visiting route and departure time.
3️⃣There are many steps in the village, and it is quite dark at night, so it is recommended to tour according to your physical condition.

Balagezong | A fairyland on earth
⛰ The natural landscape is majestic and unique, and the combination of entertainment projects and natural landscapes is great, and the culture is well preserved
📍Newly opened scenic area: The service is very good, the guide is detailed, and the time is reasonably suggested. Because we didn't grasp the time well, we almost missed the car back to the city. After explaining the situation, the staff immediately arranged a small car to send us directly to the bus next to the mountain (although this is still necessary to grasp the time or self-driving)
🧑🏼🌾The staff are almost all local indigenous people: they know the local culture and history, and the lifestyle is like a finger, and the introduction is detailed
1️⃣Balazhuomarakang (temple): See 21 mother gold bodies at once, and learn about Tibetan Buddhist culture with the guide
2️⃣Echo Wall: The plank road on the edge of the cliff, you can see the rugged mountain road that the villagers needed to enter and exit the village back then. At the end is a glass plank road, reflecting the unique pure blue sky and white clouds of Yunnan, as if walking in the clouds; there are also 39 yards of large feet that can barely step on the hollow plank road, and the toes can be stretched to the 800 meters high in the air to blow the wind; There is also a 800m high-altitude zip line on the canyon, I am counseled
3️⃣The highest point of more than 4,000 meters above sea level is the king of Balagezong: Xiangbala Stupa. This stupa is naturally formed by the mountain, it is the supreme secret of Tibet, and it takes 52 hairpin bends to come up. The vegetation changes vertically, and the loneliness of the valley at the top is very worth a visit. The Grand Canyon: The river comes from the Gongga Snow Mountain, and along the way it merges the purest snow water from nine snow mountains, also called Jiutou River, with great momentum, flowing between the canyons. In fact, you can see the whole view on the Echo Wall, which is very spectacular. Its main play is rafting
4️⃣The above several attractions can actually be visited in two days, and Balagezong also has a hiking route, which is completely different from these landscapes. This line takes three days, with an altitude of 3000-4000. It is said that it will pass through alpine meadows and meet with the herders who have withdrawn from the top of the mountain. Interested friends can do some strategy

😍 Travel experience:
During my trip in Shangri-La, I felt like I was in a fairy tale world. The city's architecture is full of Tibetan characteristics, and the charming scenery is intoxicating. Feeling the power of nature, on the boat in Tiger Leaping Gorge, I was shocked by the magnificent gorge scenery, and my mood instantly became bright. Stepping into the ancient city, the Tibetan-style buildings on both sides of the street exude a strong cultural atmosphere, making me feel like I have traveled back to ancient times. Every bite of Shangri-La's food is memorable, and every interaction with the Tibetan people makes me feel their warmth and innocence.
Shangri-La is a place where the soul can be purified. Whether standing on Baishuitai overlooking the snow-capped mountains of Diqing, or strolling in the city's alleys, you can feel the power of nature and the unique charm of Tibetan culture. This is the most beautiful fairyland in my heart, and I hope you can also come once and experience the miracle of Shangri-La!🌸✨

It's not that we can't afford to go to Meili Snow Mountain, but Balagezong is more cost-effective
Alright, let's get started!!
The backdrop is the naturally formed Shambhala Stupa, a friend said that the BGM at this time should be 'Tsizhen Lamu', arranged.
Balagezong has 4 hiking routes, it is now the off-season, more attractive than Meili Snow Mountain.
The slogan of this trip: It's not that we can't afford to go to Meili Snow Mountain, but Balagezong is more cost-effective!
The accommodation price is low, there are few tourists, and you can monopolize the entire scenic area in minutes.
Moreover, it is very close to Shangri-La city and Dukezong Ancient City.
Anyway, I've already laid down and rolled, perfect.

Shangri-La Balagezong // The once lost secret land
Balagezong is located at the junction of Yunnan, Sichuan, and Tibet. This place was once a place that could not be located on any map in the world, and was known as the "once lost secret land". In this place, there has been a village "Bara Village" for 1300 years.
The Balagezong Sky Road is 35 kilometers long, with 52 hairpin bends and 108 turns. It is winding and rugged, spiraling upwards, without extra guardrails.
Here is the mysterious Shambhala Stupa, which is a Tibetan Buddhist stupa. There are many precious Buddha statues and cultural relics in the stupa, which is a place full of religious atmosphere.
Ticket: 170 yuan/person
🕐Opening hours: 08:00-16:30

I always thought Shangri-La was abroad!!
🏞️In this world, there is a place known as 'the closest place to heaven', where there are snow-capped mountains, grasslands, mysterious Tibetan Buddhist culture, and a Shangri-La forgotten by time.
📒The meaning of Shangri-La is a paradise on earth, a paradise for humans. This term comes from the utopian place depicted in the novel 'Lost Horizon'. As a popular tourist destination, Shangri-La has always attracted countless people's attention. People flock here, both to appreciate the poetic natural scenery and to find a sense of peace and belonging. Mountains, grasslands, forests, and lakes, it feels like being in a huge natural park.
🆓Dukezong Ancient City - free attraction, this 'City of Moonlight' is a must-visit place for Shangri-La tourism, you must go for a turn of the big prayer wheel.
🎍Pudacuo National Park / Meili Snow Mountain / Songzanlin Temple / Feilai Temple / Balagezong Scenic Area all require tickets, you can compare prices on various platforms; I highly recommend everyone to go to Meili Snow Mountain, it is one of the most famous attractions in Shangri-La. The lakes and forests under the snow-capped mountains are beautiful, and then go to the local temples to experience Tibetan culture.
📸Shangri-La is really a great place for taking pictures! A random shot is a blockbuster! I really like the scenery and ethnic costumes here, wearing them feels like a different state of mind, you really have to experience it, highly recommended.
🧉Also, you must try the local Shangri-La grilled fish and butter tea, super delicious!
🪧Yubeng - hiking route: Deqin - cross the Lancang River Bridge into the Meili Scenic Area (after crossing the bridge, there are two roads, the left goes to Yubeng and the right goes to Mingyong Glacier) - Xidang Township - Hot Springs (end of the road) - cross the 3900 meters above sea level Nazongla Pass - Yubeng Upper Village - Yubeng Lower Village - Divine Waterfall - return to Yubeng - return along the same route.

🌈About altitude sickness
Don't wash your hair or take a bath on the day you arrive in Shangri-La, and don't walk fast or run or do vigorous exercise, otherwise you will easily lack oxygen and cause altitude sickness. Although I did not have altitude sickness, I also prepared a bottle (25/bottle) of oxygen just in case~

In the northwest of Yunnan, at the junction of Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet, there is a paradise lost in the world, that is Shangri-La. There are sacred snow mountains, quiet villages, deep canyons, dense primitive forests, and lush alpine meadows. Shangri-La in Tibetan means 'the sun and the moon in the heart', the beauty here cannot be expressed in words.
Songzanlin Temple
Songzanlin Temple is a place in Shangri-La that you must not miss. This Tibetan Buddhist temple is very beautiful for taking pictures in Tibetan costumes. When visiting the temple, you need to walk clockwise and respect religious beliefs.
Visit Dukezong Ancient City in the morning
You can visit the ancient city in the morning to Songzanlin Temple, try Tibetan meals. The super prayer wheel on Turtle Mountain is also very suitable for taking pictures. At night, people will gather in the square to dance together, which is very ethnic.
