Chinatown city walk
In the heart of Singapore’s heritage neighbourhood, Chinatown, you will find many places bustling during the mid autumn Mooncake Festival! If you are looking for a cultural evening out, I recommend you take a nice walk along the streets near Chinatown Point shopping mall and experience the vibrant atmosphere.
Many pop-up stalls have been set up selling mooncakes from different popular brands like Shisen Hanten. There are also a variety of dining options here such as Aburi-EN, Peach Garden and Genki Sushi! Interestingly, the top floor has a full-sized library if that’s a place you enjoy visiting.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bakery Cakes Buns
#citywalk
Address - 133 New Bridge Rd, #01-27/28 Chinatown Point, Singapore 059413
Highlights - Traditional mooncakes, bakery, cakes
During the evening my husband brought me to the Chinatown point. It was the right time as we can do last minute shopping for mooncakes. I love the traditional mooncake in yam and durian flavour by breadtalk. The store at the Chinatown point is big. One side is catered to bread and cakes, while the other side is catered to mooncakes. A new product that caught our eyes. Our favorite momoji comes in two different flavours. Both are our favorites too. The black sesame and the peanut butter taste. We bought each to try out and we love the taste. We do love some of their freshly baked buns too.

Chinatown Point Mid Autumn
#singapore
Chinatown point is the mall you should look out for when you are staying in the Chinatown area, or shopping in that area. It is a mall with all you need with many dining restaurants. There are many retail outlets and even a supermarket. For this year mid autumn festive season the Chinatown point has put up a rabbit mascot at the entrance of their mall. It is a huge mascot that will definitely catch your attention when you are walking in that area. Be sure to visit the Chinatown point during the evening so that you can catch a good glimpse of the mascot. You can take beautiful pictures with the mascot and share with your friends.

Chinatown Point

I like visiting Chinatown Point. It has many restaurants which my wife and I love. I also like the entrance of Chinatown Point with its big screen and neon signboard.
We recently visited Chinatown Point during Chinese New Year and it was decorated with many cute zodiac mascots. Thus, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to take photos of them. It was very nicely decorated.

#yearofrabbit
Chinatown is the best place to immerse in the Chinese New Year festive season in Singapore.
Happened to pass by Chinatown Point and welcoming us at the front of the mall are the 12 zodiac animals. Being the year of rabbit, the rabbit icon appeared the biggest.
Inside the mall, you can find 12 boards describing how the rabbit year will be for each different zodiac animal. Pop inside and have a read, but it's all for reference.
A mall near to the Chinatown festive streets. So hop over for more cny moods!

Rabbit Lantern Chinatown Point
#meetsingapore
The lantern festival at Chinatown and without fail, there will always be lantern decorations here. If you walk towards Chinatown Point, you will also get to see many rabbits on display too. In fact, these rabbit displays were being featured on the news for the wrong reasons. These rabbit displays were faceless and emotionless and some took it as a bad omen. However, it was meant to be a contest to design the rabbit. So everyone can try to design the rabbit and the winning entry will be drawn on to the rabbit faces. At the same time, there were more lanterns displayed at Lights by the Lake at Jurong Lake Gardens for the same lantern festival. It is a joyous celebration in Singapore but it is not a public holiday here.

Address: 133 New Bridge Rd, Singapore 059413
Nearest MRT: Chinatown MRT
There are always some sort of arts exhibition ongoing on the ground level at Chinatown point. When I was there, there was an arts and handicraft bazaar ongoing. Some stall owners are students selling their handicraft works. Their items are very pretty and it might seem to be slightly expensive. I would think that it is a good initiative to support their interests. This shopping mall is located inside a busy area and right at Chinatown MRT. So the influx of shoppers are high and it is also not easy to attract attention when there are many retail shops in this area.

Chinatown Mid Autumn Festival
133 New Bridge Road, Chinatown Point, Singapore 059413
The Mid Autumn festival is a festive season where we consume mooncake and have a cup of tea with our friends and loved ones. Every year, there would be interesting events and carnivals in Singapore to celebrate this happy occasion.
Chinatown point, the heart of the Chinese landmark, has a different contest each year to celebrate this season. This year, they have organised a lantern painting competition. The shortlisted beautiful artistic hand painted lanterns are showcased at the atrium of Chinatown point, to honour their hardwork and participation in these special events. Why not take a walk there to celebrate this season.

Chinatown point is a relatively new mall with lots of retail stores. The opening hours are daily 10am to 10pm. There are 6 floors in the mall. The family friendly mall targets a wide market segment. Choose to dine in at one of the popular Michelin star restaurants - peach garden. Or simply grab a bite at the toast box for a short chat with your friends.
For tourists, there are also famous bakeries for you to buy back their famous bean pastries to your family and friends. The mall is home to different country food. You can get Chinese beef noodle, authentic Thai food steamboat, Japanese bento stewed food, and even juicy yummy western food.
There are even stores offering cheap products such as daiso and the value dollar shop. There is also a supermarket within the shopping mall. For people who want to purchase dried herbs , the mall has various stores selling dried herbs, scallops, ginseng, bird nest, and abalone.

Yummy Snacks from overseas
133 New Bridge Road, #b1-25, Singapore 059414
The Scarlett is located at Chinatown point basement level. The nearest MRT station is at the North east line, Chinatown point. They offer lots of Chinese items, such as snacks, tidbits, frozen goods, drinks , condiments, and even surgical face masks.
The items are priced competitively and some of the items do have ongoing sales. Purchase more than one to enjoy a special price. One of my favourites is the durian flavour popcorn. It is very sweet yet yummy. The packaging looks great, and is definitely a good gift for your friends kids. There is also dried squid available in the store. It is my next favourite from the store. It is hard to find dried squid snacks in Singapore and this is one of those who retails at an affordable price.

The library @ Chinatown point is located at level 4 of the mall. The nearest MRT is the north east line, Chinatown MRT station. There are ample parking lot at level 3 to 6. The library opening hours are from 11am to 9pm.
The library can be accessed via the level 3 escalator, at the other side of the mall, where the travel agencies are located. Once you see the circular slope walkway, that is the one that would bring you to the level 4 library.
The library is a smaller scale compared to the others. It has ample seats and various genres of books. There is even a kids section for parents to bring their kids to read story books. The library is definitely a great place for the young and old to spend their time wisely in a conducive reading environment.

A lovely entrepreneur with all her baking creations and her monthly menu is always changing. So it is worth coming back and checking out her new menu. From home based cooking to a shop front in Chinatown Point. I am loving her french pastries with local twist. She has a monthly theme for her bake and you can check it out on her IG and do pre-order. The current theme is on Singapore National Day and you can use her IG shopping cart link to order. Self collection is free and you can also opt for delivery and pay extra too.
Try out her new Durian MSW Puff on a tart. It is definitely worth the calories.

Gochi Aso Shokudo at Chinatown
This is my first time trying a “Gochi So Shokudo”that’s not located at Jewel. I still like the environment of the jewel one better.
We came here to dine as it was near Clan Hotel and Gochi So Shokudo is famous for their iberico pork. More commonly known as black pork.
This time I ordered the shabu shabu with iberico pork. I believe it’s a seasonal special and I think it taste decent for the price. The soup broth is soy milk and taste like a mixture of tonkotsu, I like that it tasted thick and the amount of pork slice given was decent enough for its price.
The other dish we ordered was the usual iberico pork collar.
I think the shabu shabu and iberico pork is worth the try. However, something I noticed about both outlets now is that there are usually enough seats however you may spend some time waiting.

There is a need to cultivate reading among the children and when you can make it fun for them, they will enjoy it better. The public libraries are like an amusement park fot the children, not in a noisy way. But a cultured and more refined way of spending time and getting joy from readings. It is good to read and get exposure to different types of writing. At the same time, improving reading comprehension and skills. There are always many children programs in the library for free. The children can sign up and enjoy a lovely afternoon in the library. In a fast moving digital world, it is still good to have a place to let the children be able to read on paperback books. The children’s section at library @ chinatown is spacious and have a huge selection of books catering to different age group.

Another excellent design of the library @ chinatown. It is the first themed design of liberty based on local arts and culture. The whole library is inspired by our local history of calligraphy, painting and local dialects customs. At the same time, it is very functional to spend time in the library. The best part about libraries is open to all and for all. There is no need to pay at all. Even for borrowing books, it is also for free, otherwise a small amount of fee. The location of the library is also very convenient and easily accessible by public transport. It is located inside Chinatown Point which is connected to the Chinatown MRT station too. You can see the designs of the library are influenced by the Chinese rich traditions. There are plenty of bamboo motifs in the library too.

Song Fa Bak Kut Teh Chinatown Point
Address:133 New Bridge Rd, #01-04, Singapore 059413
Must order: of course Bak Kut Teh
My #dateideas started with a staycation at The Clan. It is not far at all, about 7-8mins walk from The Clan. I went to The Clan on a weekend so there were not many food options nearby. I chose Song Fa BKT for our dinner date because I knew about their free soup refill. I brought my date to Chinatown Point for some shopping at Daiso to decorate our room at The Clan. It was our anniversary celebration. Then we also toured around Chinatown, visited Pagoda street, Telok Ayer street, Buddha tooth relic temple and Sri Marimman temple. We took many beautiful photos too.
Finally we walked back to Chinatown Point for our BKT dinner. We ordered a sharing portion and our soup always had refills. It was indeed an enjoyable date-cation.

Trying out this new coffee brand that I have been seeing elsewhere. This place is cosy and they are having a promotion for new members. The first drink will be at 99 cent. That is quite a bargain. We bought the matcha exfreezo and chocolate exfreezo. They taste good. They were refreshing and I find the sweetness just right.

My wife and I were walking along in a shopping cente when we saw a advertisement advertising vermicelli in spicy broth. Both of us love spicy food so we wanted to try. The name of the restaurant is called TamJia SamGor.
The TamJia SamGor branch we went is in Chinatown Point. As the restaurant was from Hong Kong, the theme of of restaurant is based on Hong Kong. Thus, you can see number of neon lights.
Now to the food, what I love best about the food was that its fully customizable. You can select the ingredients inside. As we ordered through the QR code, we can request what ingredients we don't want too, don't need feel shy. We then proceed to eat our food. The soup was fantastic and the whole dish was awesome!

Marriage Cakes Time Honoured

For traditional weddings, it is important to have the traditional wedding cakes and bakeries. Nowadays, such bakery store only left with a few. The good news is that Thye Moh Chan still freshly made them on request.
Every popular tourist destination would have some snacks that would leave them craving for more. For other countries, they have their own style of bakery biscuits and cakes. For Singapore, we have Thye Moh Chan as one of the best bakeries in Chinatown or even Singapore. The rich history of the cake shop has long been famous among the older generations of singaporeans.
The bakery offers a wide range of bakeries, such as the salty and sweet tasting bean paste cake, pineapple tarts, teochew mooncake, yam cake, as well as the favourite yuan yang tau sar biscuit cake.
The shop is always filled with crowds. Please get them early to ensure you have the most fresh bakeries at the heart of Singapore Chinatown.
