#Hong'ensi Forest Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
#11 of Spring Outings in Chongqing
City Parks
Address:
Jiangbei, Chongqing, China
Opening times:
Open year round, 24/7Open
Recommended sightseeing time:
3-4 hour
Short walk up to the temple
We choose to enter on a side gate and walk out way up to the temple on the many stairs on the pathway. It was a nice workout.
After we visited the main attraction in the park, we wondered around a bit more and than took the most flat path to the entrance.
After we exited the park, there is an old style street, just starting from the park entrance. It is similar to Hongyadong. It has many restaurants and at the end there is a hotel.
To get to the park you can get public transport or dido/taxi/shared bikes.
Don't forget to bring your passport/ID card with you.

Hong'en Temple, Chongqing
Hong'en Temple sits a top a slow inclining hill, the beautiful example of Chinese architecture looks out over sweeping city scenes, with the river on one side and endless high rises and mountains on the other.
The surrounding Hong'ensi Parkland is a quiet get away from the busy city, with very little people wondering through the greenery. There are very few tourist spots in China that allow you to feel completely at one with nature whilst being central.
There are small stalls for snacks and drinks, but this isn't the normal Chinese destination, with tourist buses and ticketing booths, which is why I think it's impossibly unique.

Checked in at Hongensi, Chongqing
Hongensi is an ancient Buddhist temple nestled in the mountains, blending Central Plains culture with Buddhist wisdom. It is situated amidst green hills and clear waters, like a pearl set in the embrace of nature.
Every time you step into Hongensi, it feels like entering a world of tranquility and peace. The lingering scent of incense and the distant tolling of bells bring a gradual calmness to the mind. Here, there is no noise and impatience of the secular world, only the deep inner peace and serenity.

A single photo has made this ancient building in Chongqing famous
Previously, a foreign photographer visited Chongqing and took a night view photo of Hongen Pavilion, which immediately made this ancient building famous in hundreds of countries around the world. Now, it is a must-visit place for everyone who travels to Chongqing. Let's talk about it briefly today.
Hongen Pavilion is located in Hongen Temple Forest Park in Jiangbei District. The whole building is a seven-story ancient-style pavilion with an altitude of 468 meters, surpassing the 437.5-meter 'One Tree in Nanshan' viewing platform, making it the highest viewing platform in Chongqing's main urban area. Hongen Temple Forest Park covers thousands of acres, with a rich variety of plants and various birds appearing from time to time. It is a beautiful place and a good place for Chongqing photographers to take bird photos.
As the highest viewing platform in the main urban area, after climbing the Hongen Pavilion, you can see the main cityscape such as Shimen Bridge and Guanyin Bridge. Especially at night, you can take in the vast city night view. Hongen Pavilion itself is famous for its night view, but it is also a good place to enjoy the city night view.
The architecture of Hongen Pavilion is also very beautiful, attracting many citizens to come and take photos every day, especially the ancient style photos are the most beautiful, you can try it~
Inside Hongen Temple, there is also the Chongqing Jiangbei District Library, which is a quaint and characteristic library with many books and beautiful scenery. You can visit it on the way; speaking of which, when you come to Hongen Pavilion, be sure to pay attention to the details. Remember to set the end point at the east gate, because the road from the east gate to Hongen Pavilion is very flat and not tiring to walk. But it's a lot harder to climb the stairs all the way from the west gate.

I remember that there was a Japanese photographer on the ins before shooting a group of scenery photos of Chongqing Magic Mountain City. Among them, there is a magical night view of ancient buildings, with distinct layers and strong atmosphere. This is one of Chongqings landmarks, Chongqing Jiangbei. Hong En Pavilion in Hong En Temple Park. Many photographers come to Chongqing to travel and come to the night to take pictures and punch cards. Hong En Temple is the full name of Hong En Temple Forest Park. It is located near the Maoer Stone Village in Guanyin Bridge Street, Jiangbei District on the north bank of the Jialing River. From the perspective of aerial photography, it seems that the park is very large, and it is second only to Central Park in the main city of Chongqing. However, although there is a temple in the name of Hong En Temple, it is not a temple. Just like Guanyin Bridge in Chongqing, there is no Guanyin and Xiaoqiao. It is just a park.
