As a cat lover, I was elated to find out that Taipei has its very own Cat Village. The Houtong Cat Village is located in the Ruifang district, which is a 15 mins drive away from Jioufen. When we arrived, I was initially disappointed as there were no cats greeting me at the entrance. However, as we climbed the stairs, we found many cats of different breeds and they were all very friendly and cute.
Fun Fact: Houtong was initially a small mining town and it was only in 2008, a group of cat lovers volunteered to offer the abandoned cats in Houtong a better life and posted these cats online, thus attracting a huge response from cat lovers globally and now it has become a center for cat lovers.
Overall, I really enjoyed my visit here and I am also extremely happy that the cats were very well taken care of here as well. I will definitely visit again in the future

Cat Village - Houtong near Taipei 🐈 🐱 🐈⬛
Houtong has attracted attention from all over Taiwan and even got featured on CNN, dubbed as the “Cats Village”.
It’s very easy to get there - trains run from Taipei Station every hour and arrive directly at Houtong in about 45-55 minutes
And once you stepped out of Houtong station, you will feel it’s nostalgia and presence of the meow members right away. Cats are literally everywhere!
The cats here are used to tourists oohing and aahing at them, or even getting treats from them - but do follow the rules which are shown almost everywhere to make sure cats are not harmed in any way.
Don’t miss the cats cafes and restaurants, or the cats souvenir shops that are mostly located on the other side of the station. You will get there by walking on the footbridge especially designated to be friendly to cats too.
Another highlight here is the mining museum that has a mine car ride, which is fun for kids too!#cats

Are you a cat lover?
I am a cat lover and YES! one of my mission is to visit Houtong Cat village.
I went there with train from Taipei. I am so lucky as there was a shower rain on that day (not heavy rain) so, there were still a chance to meet some cat. I am walking to the mountain top and the weather is about 15 or 16 degree. A lot of little meow on the way, some you can play with them but some are aggressive. I stopped at a cat cafe for some bakery and hot drink.
This was very good time of mine in Taiwan!

In little more than two years, Houtong, which is located 35km east of Taipei in Ruifang district, managed to reinvent itself as a complete cat village. Today, more than 200 cats live in Houtong and a tourist industry has emerged with shops, cafes and restaurants catering to the many visitors who descend on this feline frontier every weekend.
How to get there : The easiest way to get here is by train from Taipei Station. Take the Yilan line (most often the terminus will be Su’ao) and simply get off in Houtong about an hour later.

To get to the cat village from ximending, simply take a train to Taipei main station. Then take a TRA to Ruifang. The journey will take about an hour. From there, change to pingxi line to go towards the cat village. The journey will take about 35 minutes. Shifen and the hou tong cat village are just nearby each other.
I was amazed that Taipei actually has such a big space reserved for the cats. The cats were roaming around on the street. Occasionally, you will find people feeding them with cats food or milk.
If you are a cat lover, do visit this place and get close contact with the cats. Do come during the end of the fall season, and avoid coming on the monsoon season.

There is a cat village in Taipei, Hou Dong, not far from Ruifang, very, and nine points. As soon as I got out of the train station, I saw the slogan of Meng Meng. The station also had a cartoon image of the stationmaster's black nose. The whole town can meet cats everywhere, some lazy, some relatives. Remember to buy a pack of cat food at the store, which is very attractive to one of the cats!
Monkey Cat Village is also known as "Monkey Cat Street". Monkey Cat Village is located in the vicinity of Houyi Station in Ruifang District, Xinbei City, Taiwan. The villagers homes in the area around Guangfuli Chaiqi Road are the newly planned sightseeing spots of Ruifang Town at the end of 2009. Cats inhabited by Bai Mao Street have been in close contact with tourists for a long time. Most of them are not afraid of being born, and some cats will take the initiative to make contact with people.
[Traffic] Ruifang Station takes a small train to get off at the monkey ring.

In addition to New Year's Day, you can watch the New Year's fireworks in Taipei. You can also go to the Red Star Monkey Village, which loves the Stars.
Monkey Cat Village, from the Ruifang Railway Station, the free-seat train is 15 Taiwan dollars to the Monkey Station, and the Cat Village is behind the train station.
Here used to be a coal mine. The older generation of Taiwan spent a career as a miner here. Now that the mine has been mined, it is replaced by the cat's theme. The shovel's shovel officer must have a trip, play with a lot of lazy cats, have afternoon tea at the cat coffee, and buy a cat's hand letter. It's not big here, 2 to 4 hours is enough.

The Pingxi Line connects to the tourist spots such as Monkey, Ten, Pingxi and Jingtong from New Taipei City Ruifang. It was originally the coal-supporting branch line and is now one of the most popular day-trips of Taiwan Railway.
As long as you purchase the Pingxi Line Day Pass, you can get on and off indefinitely in one day, and you will be able to play through the Pingxi stations, playing through the Monkey Cat Village, the Shifen Waterfall, the Jingtong Old Station and Pingxi Old Street, in the end must be in the sky to pray.
Although I caught up with a rainy day, I still insisted on going to Cat Village, who made me a cat slave. Here is a dream spot for cat lovers!
Monkey Cat Village has been recommended by CNN as one of the top six cat-watching attractions in the world. There is also a row of cat coffee shops offering coffee and simple meals in the village. After lunch, come here and enjoy walking with cats. The calm atmosphere of the town.

The name of the monkey cub originates from a nearby cave. It was once known as the "monkey hole". During the Japanese occupation period, the locals were rich in coal mines. The locals used mining as their living. They sought for Geely and did not like water in the pit. Later, the resources of this coal mine were excavated, and the remaining factory equipment was also drained and the remaining value was left unattended. The older generation of coal miners who have lived for generations have become empty nesters, and the younger generation has gone to metropolitan development. In an accidental opportunity, the old man who guarded the empty nest found several stray cats, and they carefully raised them. These stray cats quickly developed into a large group. Over the years, the older generation has gradually confessed to others, and these cats who have been cared for by the elderly have continued to prosper inadvertently, making this a paradise for cats, attracting people to come and watch the resorts of these comets.
The New Taipei City Government led the situation and opened it up as a scenic spot. It built a coal mine museum and a cat village where the comet was a first-class citizen. Every step of the cat village strolls, the traces of the cats, the wet village, although not large, but comes with fresh attributes. In addition to the cute comet, there are also many colorful paintings for people to enjoy. The shape of the piano staircase is also characteristic of the cat village. The cartoon characters of various comets on both sides of the road have sprouted a lot of girls' hearts, and they feel good when they shoot.
Here is a cat life, the life I am most looking forward to.
