Take my advice, you must bring your loved one to drive the Great Ocean Road
Visiting Melbourne, I recommend that you must go for a self-drive on the Great Ocean Road, known as the most beautiful coastal road, and it's really good.
A typical self-drive takes about 2-3 days, we were not in a hurry and took four days to slowly enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
【Itinerary】
✅D1 Hobart-Melbourne-Geelong Town
Directly fly from Hobart to Melbourne, pick up the car from the airport, and start our self-driving journey, the first day is to drive to Geelong Town.
✅D2 Geelong Beach-Anglesea Beach-Lorne Town-Apollo Bay-Cape Otway Lighthouse-Apollo Bay
1️⃣ Geelong Beach: A good place for leisurely walks, with many puppet people, it's quite nice to stroll around
2️⃣ Anglesea Beach: A rather average beach, you can skip it
3️⃣ Lorne Town: The first town you enter on the Great Ocean Road, there is a nice viewing platform where you can overlook the entire town
4️⃣ Cape Otway Lighthouse: A lighthouse standing on the edge of a cliff, the wind is particularly strong, and you can see koalas and kangaroos there
5️⃣ Apollo Bay: Also a town on the Great Ocean Road, you can choose to have lunch and stay here, close to the Twelve Apostles
✅D3 Twelve Apostles-Loch Ard Gorge-London Bridge-Bay of Martyrs-Whale Watching Platform-Warrnambool
6️⃣ Twelve Apostles: A must-visit attraction on the Great Ocean Road, now only seven apostles remain.
7️⃣ Loch Ard Gorge: A gorge named after a shipwreck, with a love story of Shipwreck Bay, where you can see the spectacular sea
8️⃣ London Bridge: Just like the rock formation of London Bridge, it's quite spectacular
9️⃣ Bay of Martyrs: Located inside Loch Ard Gorge, named after the shipwreck that claimed 52 lives
1️⃣0️⃣ Whale Watching Platform: In the town of Warrnambool, you can watch whales in winter
1️⃣1️⃣ Warrnambool: The end of the Great Ocean Road, you can choose to stay here for one night, it's quite a large town
✅D4 Port Fairy-Griffiths Island
1️⃣2️⃣ Port Fairy: Also called Fairy Port, staying in Warrnambool, it's about a 40-minute drive to Port Fairy, once listed as one of the most livable small towns in the world, it's really comfortable
1️⃣3️⃣ Griffiths Island: Next to Port Fairy, the island is only accessible on foot, you can see kangaroos, and there is an ancient lighthouse. Many people surf here.
✅D5 Return to Melbourne
On the last day, drive directly from Warrnambool back to Melbourne
【How to go】
You can fly directly to Melbourne from within the country, the Great Ocean Road is right next to Melbourne, self-driving is the best choice
【Where to stay】
For a self-drive on the Great Ocean Road, it's best to stay for two nights for a more leisurely experience, the first night can be spent in Apollo Bay, and the second night in Port Campbell or Warrnambool
【Transportation】
There is no public transportation on the Great Ocean Road, self-driving is the best choice. A domestic driver's license plus a translation is enough to rent a car, remember to buy full insurance

Natural Beauty of Twelve Apostles 🇦🇺
#melbournetrip
📍Twelve Apostles
Visited this natural beauty in Melbourne, the Twelve Apostles! We rented a car from Melbourne city and drove to the Twelve Apostles. It was a 4 hour drive from the city centre, and the road along the way which is Great Ocean Road is stunning and beautiful! The sea views along the way was such a sight to behold! The sight seeing points are well maintained and ample of parking spots were available. It was really windy and chilly when we visited during July, so do wear extra layers to keep yourself warm. Besides the Twelve Apostles, we drove to see Loch Ard Gorge, which is also another viewpoint that was nearby! Would love to revisit!

Took the photo of my life on the Great Ocean Road! (With Tesla self-driving guide)
I went to the Great Ocean Road three times before I took the perfect foggy photo!! 2 days and 1 night on the Great Ocean Road, I experienced sunny weather, fog, strong wind, and heavy rain. The weather on the Great Ocean Road is really unpredictable!! It's because of the unpredictable weather that makes the 276-kilometer Great Ocean Road more fun to drive.
·
The most beautiful shooting spot on the Great Ocean Road is Gibson Steps! Gibson Steps! Gibson Steps! I have to say it three times. Walking down the Gibson Steps, you can see the big rocks and watch the sunset on the beach. It's only a few minutes' drive from the Twelve Apostles lookout. There are fewer people in the morning and at sunset. Whether you can encounter the right fog depends on your luck~
·
Self-driving route reference
D1: Depart from Melbourne - Charge in Geelong - Split Point Lookout - Apollo Bay - Marriners Lookout - Gibson Steps - 12 Apostles - Stay in Port Campbell, all along the coastline
D2: Port Campbell - London Bridge - Bay of Islands - Charge in Warrnambool - Return to Melbourne inland
·
The weather really determines the watchability of the Great Ocean Road. The weather was great on the first day, sunny all the way, and there was fog at sunset, which made every photo look good. It rained on the second day, and the wind was so strong that I was in a mess. I had to leave the coastline in a hurry and wander around the farm near Warrnambool. I really like the farms in Australia, the cows are so cute.
·
Accommodation:
There are quite a few towns where you can stay on the Great Ocean Road. Many tourists will stay in Apollo Bay. If you want to take pictures of the sunset at the Twelve Apostles, I suggest you stay in Port Campbell like I did. It's only a 10-minute drive from the Twelve Apostles and about 10 minutes from London Bridge.
·
Self-driving:
I experienced driving a Tesla Model Y on the Great Ocean Road for everyone, and I really didn't have any range anxiety.
The starting point of the Great Ocean Road, Geelong, and the end point, Warrnambool, both have Tesla's own superchargers. I set off from Geelong with a full charge and drove along the coastline, stopping and taking pictures along the way. When I arrived in Warrnambool, I still had 35% of the battery left. After charging, I drove back to Melbourne from the inland with 40% of the battery left. I only needed to charge twice for the round trip on the Great Ocean Road, and the supercharger was basically full within 40 minutes. At present, Model Y is still free to charge, I rented a Tesla to save fuel, but I didn't expect to save electricity, it's really great~
In addition to Geelong and Warrnambool, there are also 2 superchargers on the inland highway section, I remember they are in Cobden and Colac, ensuring that there is no range anxiety along the way~ Tesla car owners can rest assured to charge on the Great Ocean Road!

Twelve apostles - Great Ocean Road Drive
The Great Ocean Road is an ideal place for a road trip in Melbourne. Reminder to travel out early as it is rather unsafe driving with low visibility in the evening.
The coastline drive was a memorable experience and it is recommended for travellers to experience taking this route.
Do adequate research before the trip as you might be able to plot a quick stop to the Great Ocean Road chocolaterie as well.

Life’s a Beach! 🏖️
Part 2 of the great ocean road post belongs to the beautiful beaches along the way! many of these beaches are left untouched and preserved, this makes for beautiful photos.
This photo includes a few spots such as the grotto and the 12 apostles. It is truely wonderful to witness the remaining apostles (I believe there are about 6 remaining) as sadly they may not remain standing for much longer.

Natural wonders of world 🌎
This is the most memorable trip in Australia. I drove 3 hours+ to get there. The view is stunning and it was very cold due to the rain.
I would have enjoyed it so much more if the weather was good.
As one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, it’s definitely a must to visit. You won’t regret it.
For drivers who aren’t very experience; i will recommend to you to take the internal road to here. As for the more experienced and adventurous drivers, take the great ocean and scenic road there.
Oh man. I really hoped it didn’t rain that day, as there were several locations I’ve yet to visit when I was there.
Be sure to be warmly dressed when going there on winter, as the wind is super chilling and strong.
The sight is something unforgettable . I will love to visit it again sometime in 2023 winter!

12 Apostles is so amazing
#celebratewithtrip
We enjoyed the scenic drive along the Great Ocean Road to get to 12 Apostles. 12 Apostles platforms are one of the best lookouts in Melbourne. The view and vibe from the top were amazing. A short walk from carpark and you can spend some times to take nice photo shot ! If you are visiting Melbourne then definitely keep this place on your checklist. There are few other lookouts nearby. One of the best experiences.

I brought one of the Twelve Apostles home 🪨
Parents went here for their wedding anniversary when they were younger (and when us pesky kids weren’t born yet) and saw 9 of the twelve apostles.
When we revisited it as a family many years later, there was only 8 left. Years of erosion have caused the beautiful natural apostles to collapse slowly.
I recommend everyone who has the chance to, to visit this beautiful place while the twelve apostles still stand!
We also had the chance to walk down to the Shipwreck Coast towards the side. A very picturesque view of the ocean can be seen here, as well as plaques explaining the historical value of the location. Was not able to take photos of this plaque due to the amount of people, but it was a pretty funny story 😅 (Sorry, don’t remember what it was about but I know I had a good laugh)
Collected one of the rocks for myself too so when you guys visit, you’ll probably see seven! 👀 (For all legal reasons, this is a joke)

Famous Twelve Apostles of Great Ocean Road
If you drive down the Great Ocean Road in Australia, be sure to stop by the famous Twelve Apostles! The Twelve Apostles is a cluster of limestone pillars rising out of the Southern Ocean off the shore of Port Campbell National Park. These pillars were once limestone cliffs that faced constant erosion from the waves and winds.
The best view is during sunrise or sunset where you can watch as the rocks change colour under different sunlight conditions. There’s a viewing platform where you can admire the Twelve Apostles or take a stroll by the beach to see them up close.
From Melbourne, it is a 4.5 hour scenic drive along the Great Ocean Road to the Twelve Apostles. May be a long drive, but the scenery is definitely worth it!

Australia is disappearing in the wonders of the world, it is too late to go.
Speaking of "Twelve Apostles" The first thing that comes to mind naturally is the "twelve disciples" recorded in the Bible. It is said that the number of "twelve" has a special meaning, as if the Old Testament had twelve Israel. There are twelve gates in the New Jerusalem, twelve angels on the door, twelve foundations on the wall, and so on, as if to prove that this is a different number from the others. In Melbourne, Australia, there is the existence of this twelve disciples.
Melbourne's Twelve Apostles actually refers to the Twelve Apostles, which is located on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria Island, Australia, in the Port Campbell National Park. We started from Melbourne by car, and it took about 3 hours to walk along the Great Ocean Road. The Twelve Apostles are actually 12 sandstones on the Pacific Ocean, because after thousands of years of baptism of the waves and sea breeze, because the number and form are similar to the twelve disciples of Jesus, it is called the twelve disciple.
Because of the erosion of day after day, the earliest "twelve disciples" are only seven and a half now. Some people say that this is a gift on the most beautiful road in the world. It is nature giving people If you don't look at it anymore, one day you will lose it. Just like no one knows, the day when the fire in Notre Dame in Paris will happen, the landscape here will suddenly collapse. So be sure to hurry up time~
It is said that the most recent collapse occurred in 2005 when a little boy and his parents witnessed the moment of the collapse, the last second of the rock still perseverance in Neri, It can be as short as 35 meters in the next second. Research scholars have said that the wonders here will all disappear one day. The moment you see is actually history.
Finally, in addition to self-driving, you can also choose to take a helicopter, but there are many people, you must make an appointment in advance, and consult the corresponding price, about 20 minutes, a few hundred Australian dollars.

The Twelve Apostles is a famous natural landmark located along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. The 12 Apostles are a series of limestone rock stacks that rise from the Southern Ocean on Victoria's coastline, about 275 kilometers west of Melbourne. Despite twelve apostles, there are actually only eight apostles remaining because several have collapsed over time due to erosion caused by the powerful Southern Ocean waves. There are lookouts along the Great Ocean Road that offer stunning panoramic views of the coastline and the surrounding ocean. It is nice to enjoy the panoramic views of the coastline at the lookout point.

Discover Melbourne's 'Treasure of the State'—The Great Ocean Road at Campbell's Port
🌊🌅 Discover Melbourne's 'Treasure of the State'—The Great Ocean Road at Campbell's Port.
💫 Hello, friends! Today, I'm going to take you into Melbourne's 'Treasure of the State'—The Great Ocean Road at Campbell's Port! Not only does it boast serene bays and tranquil green rainforests, but also the rugged coastal cliffs of the Shipwreck Coast await your exploration!
🌅 First, let's follow the Great Ocean Road and feel the profound dialogue between the mountains and the ocean. The azure sea sparkles, stretching to where it meets the sky. Waves crash against the rocks, creating snow-white foam, as if telling stories of a thousand years. Here, you can admire the spectacle of strange rocks standing tall, cliffs cutting into the sky, and boulders scattered about—each rock a masterpiece of nature that leaves you in awe!
🗿 Among these countless wondrous rock pillars, the most famous are undoubtedly the 'Twelve Apostles'! They stand like the twelve apostles of Jesus, quietly guarding this stretch of sea. Despite millions of years of erosion by sea, wind, and rain, these 12 massive rocks still stand firm in the ocean, unyielding. At sunrise and sunset, with the crashing waves, whispering sea breeze, and changing sunlight, each boulder seems to engage in a soulful conversation with you, allowing you to feel the magical charm of nature.
🌄 As night falls and the sunset fills the sky, the Twelve Apostles appear even more magnificent in the evening glow. Melbourne's most beautiful coastal route is the Great Ocean Road
🌟 Highlights:
Twelve Apostles
Great Ocean Road
🚉 Travel Tips:
Option one: Self-drive
Option two: Group tour
Since I took a group tour, I'll focus on that. Because this route is very popular, be sure to book a day in advance. Many websites offer group tours, so you can compare prices and times. I really think the group tour is also very good, usually the driver is also the guide, who will explain the scenery along the way while driving, so you won't be bored, and the time is arranged in a relaxed and reasonable manner. There are guides who speak both Chinese and English. If you are staying in the Melbourne city center, the bus will pick you up at your hotel. Or they provide a central meeting point, gathering around 7 am. It's convenient and saves trouble.
❤ Why I recommend it:
The beautiful natural seascape along the way, the car driving on the road with the sea on one side and mountains on the other, blue skies, white clouds, and lush greenery coming towards you. Along the way, you pass through a seaside villa area, with houses built against the mountains, some halfway up the hill, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the sea, and tables and sofas by the window glistening in the sunlight. Just one glance, and I was captivated, thinking that retiring here would be such a pleasant life. The guide will also take you to see koalas🐨, and you'll pass through a rainforest area. The trees are towering, truly lush. I've always felt like a daughter of the mountains, and once I entered, I really only wished to live in these mountains.
The last stop is the most stunning Twelve Apostles. Of course, there's a beautiful legend that you can look up on your own. It's a place truly worth visiting in a lifetime, where you will marvel at the natural wonders, the smooth cliffs eroded by the sea, the brilliant colors, standing immovably between heaven and earth. Seeing it, you will be amazed and moved, and your thoughts will be countless... The meaning of travel is reflected here, these beauties will always accompany you, enriching your experience and life. Seeing is believing, and only by being there can you be truly astounded.
Take action now, may our souls be nourished and touched on our journeys!

The Twelve Apostles
#australiatrip The Twelve Apostles, a stunning natural wonder located along the iconic Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia, leave an indelible impression on visitors. These limestone stacks rise majestically from the Southern Ocean, creating a breathtaking coastal panorama. The juxtaposition of the towering formations against the backdrop of the azure sea is a visual feast.
The apostles' formation is a testament to the relentless forces of erosion shaping the landscape over millions of years. Though only seven stacks remain standing today, the site continues to captivate with its awe-inspiring beauty. Visitors can appreciate the apostles from designated viewing platforms, each providing a unique perspective.
Sunset and sunrise cast a warm glow on the rocks, enhancing the spectacle. The ever-changing hues of the sky create a magical atmosphere, making these times particularly popular for photographers and nature enthusiasts.
While the Twelve Apostles' popularity draws crowds, it's advisable to visit during off-peak hours to fully appreciate the tranquility and grandeur of the site. Overall, this natural marvel stands as a testament to the power of nature and offers an unforgettable experience for anyone fortunate enough to witness its magnificence.

The Great Ocean Road in Australia is one of the most beautiful coastal self-drive routes in the world!
When visiting Melbourne by car, of course, you have to go to the Twelve Apostles to see the awe-inspiring work of nature, stay in a nearby town, so choose to go in the afternoon, entering the Great Ocean Road the whole view in front of you is beautiful, the feeling of traveling with the mountains and the sea, there are many viewing platforms where you can stop and enjoy!
The Twelve Apostles are the highlight of this trip, located in the Port Campbell National Park on the Great Ocean Road, standing beside the coastline for over two thousand years, these rock pillars have gradually broken away due to the erosion of strong winds and waves, and these 12 stone pillars are named after the biblical Twelve Apostles, but several have already collapsed and broken, now only 7 rock pillars remain!
Along the way, you can stop and appreciate the pillars from various angles, they stand like guardians beside the coastline, each with a different shape, year after year enduring the baptism of the waves, the scene in front of you is magnificent, with some loneliness and solemnity, the light at dusk is even more beautiful, allowing you to enjoy the seaside sunset!

Best Weekend Getaway in Melbourne
There are many amazing weekend road trip adventures along the 243km stretch of the Great Ocean Road, such as the 12 Apostles, iconic surf breaks and an abundance of wildlife! One of Australia's most scenic drives, the Great Ocean Road is a magnificent three-day self-drive touring route from surf capital Torquay to the famous 12 Apostles, ending at historic fishing village Port Fairy. 📍Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺

Only by standing in front of the Twelve Apostles can one understand the power of "nature".
The howling wind, the ancient waves beating against the sandstone, turning the rocky mountains into arches, which then collapse into pillars, and the pillars will eventually disappear. Any regret seems pretentious in the face of such a spectacular sight that leaves one speechless, like the traveler in ancient landscape paintings - a touch of light ink, optional yet essential, like the soul of ink. This is a lesson in aesthetics.

Disciple who is about to disappear if not looked at
The Twelve Apostles rock formations near Melbourne, Australia.
It is one of the world's famous coastal erosion cliffs.
12 fragmented rocks gradually formed through the weathering of seawater.
However, to this day.
Due to the impact of waves over the years.
"The Twelve Apostles" rock formation is gradually disappearing.
12 rock walls, only 7 left.
Other things have already collapsed.
Believe, as time goes by.
This world's business card will further change.
Maybe in a few years, there will only be 5 or 2 left.
Even disappear
So, it's better to appreciate these seven disciples early.
