"It's better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books"
This week, I brought the human cubs to Kunshan Jijia Dun, just 1.5h away from Shanghai~
It's a resort village that combines dining, accommodation, and entertainment 🎉
You can row boats in the village, take the kids on a mini train, cycle through the rice fields, and more...
Without too much commercial atmosphere, it's a village where one can find peace 🍃
For our three-day and two-night trip, we chose to stay at "Xidi Aranya"
The hotel's toiletries can be chosen according to your preferred scent~
The restaurant is really rich in choices, and we had different meals every time 👌🏻
Right after checking in, they thoughtfully prepared welcome snacks 🍰
The hotel also has a 🆓 non-powered amusement park, and while the cubs are playing, you can order a pot of tea by the stove~ Enjoying baked milk tea while watching the cubs play 🛝
For dinner, we went to the hotel's Western restaurant 🍴 Salad 🥗 Steak 🥩 paired with red wine 🍷
It really had a holiday atmosphere~
Our room included a hot tub, and the kids had a blast 😁
Before bed, they thoughtfully prepared a silver ear soup, warm and cozy 🍵
For the second day's breakfast at the Chinese restaurant, it was really sumptuous, and the Suzhou-style Aozao noodles are a must-try~
Afterwards, we took the little treasure on the mini train 🚞 to see the adorable Dun Dun 🥰
At noon, we had coconut chicken 🥥 hot pot 🍲 at the Wild Luxury restaurant and experienced the boathouse afternoon tea 🍰
I must say, the restaurants are all delicious without any misses~ Satisfying the dad who doesn't like shopping but loves to eat 😂
The first time experiencing a wild luxury style hotel 🏨 didn't expect the experience to be so good~ It made our family of three fall in love with this place 💗

Kunshan Half-Day Tour Recommendations
🚗 Taking advantage of the sunny weekend, I, who haven't been out of Shanghai for a long time, arranged a half-day tour to Kunshan that's just a pedal away.
✨Kunshan Half-Day Tour Itinerary:
Jinxi Ancient Town - Ji Family Dun Ideal Village - Zhudian Brick Kiln Cultural Museum
✨Jinxi Ancient Town
A relatively low-profile ancient town in Suzhou, the lotus pond at the entrance of the town is a major selling point. However, I was more interested in checking out the lakeside restaurants, enjoying the riverside view, and tasting the delicious whitefish. Don't forget to stroll through the alleys before you leave, and take home some local specialties like the sock-bottom crisp; I recommend the Xiao Mao Cake Shop.
✨Ji Family Dun Ideal Village
A recently popular internet-famous village, Ji Family Dun is really well developed and managed compared to the Tai Cang 72 Ideal Villages I visited last month.
The village has several nice homestays like Da Le Zhi Ye, Aranya, and Jiangnan Ban She created by Qing Shan Zhou Ping.
The giant duck 🦆 at the entrance of the village is a signature photo spot, and there are several coffee shops to rest in if you get tired.
✨Zhudian Brick Kiln Cultural Museum
The red brick architecture feels like visiting Jingdezhen, with a bookstore, coffee shop, exhibition hall, etc. It won't take too much time; we went there because of the red brick kiln's output.
Other Tips
🏠Accommodation: Ji Family Dun Homestays Da Le Zhi Ye/Aranya/Jiangnan Ban She created by Qing Shan Zhou Ping

In the water towns of Jiangnan, we gather around the stove to brew tea | Dinner includes fish and shrimp
🏠 In Jinxi Town, Kunshan, there is a water town in Jiangnan called Ji Jia Dun Village. Strolling along the riverbank, you come across Tao Lu.
🏺 At the entrance of Tao Lu, there are some decorative pottery shards casually placed, echoing the shop's name. Entering the pottery shop, what catches the eye are the large handmade pottery vases, filled with the golden brilliance of rapeseed flowers, bringing the essence of spring right to your face. The handmade pottery, whether vases, teacups, or ornaments, all have a sense of ancient and simple artistry.

Explore Kunshan | Getting Closer to the Ideal Village - Ji Jia Dun
Getting Closer to the Ideal Village - Ji Jia Dun. Ji Jia Dun Village is located at the southern end of Jinxi Town, formed by the merger of two natural villages, covering an area of 1.2 square kilometers. This village retains the characteristics and layout of a Jiangnan water town. Between Dianshan Lake and the ancient town of Jinxi, turn right off Jinshang Road, and enter a rural road lined with camphor trees. Following the green shade, you will arrive at the village.
❤ Recommended Reason:
Here, not only is the original ecological charm of the countryside maintained, but also some very distinctive homestays, restaurants, etc., have been created. Most importantly, this place has gathered a group of artists who yearn for a pastoral life, bringing friends and creating a utopian ideal village atmosphere. Therefore, it also attracts many families and parent-child tourists to participate in camping and experience the life of field labor.
🌟 Highlights:
The water town's pastoral scenery of the small village is still preserved:
There is a main river running through the village, and the small bridges that span the river are mostly those cement bridges built in the 1980s and 1990s, which are rough and simple, maintaining their original color without too much decoration.
Some landmark buildings are well preserved. For example, in a large field outside the village, a red brick chimney built decades ago still stands tall. From a distance, its weathered silhouette, unlike many newly made pseudo-relics, makes one feel a sense of historical time travel.
There is an attempt to combine tourism and life. It is said that the original intention here was to create a rural community led by creative designers, with a certain degree of freedom given to the design and operation of the homestay buildings. For this reason, it reflects more tolerance and individuality, forming a strong contrast with traditional water town dwellings. The style and temperament of the buildings are more personalized to the owner, triggering the designer's inspiration and unleashing unique creativity.
✅ Must Experience:
The 'Ideal Village' embodies utopian aspirations. Entering Ji Jia Dun Ideal Village, a giant duck stands at the head of the field, gazing at the farmers working in the fields. This is the best spot for taking photos.
Surrounding the farmland is a mini version of the railway, with a mini train parked beside it, only as high as a bench. Imagining riding the mini train through the countryside must be fun.
Spring has arrived, and it is the most beautiful time for the rapeseed flowers.
⏳ Recommended Play Time: About 2.5 hours

The ideal village of rural life
Ideal Village | Ji Jia Dun Village in Jinxi Town, Kunshan, Jiangsu, this village, is full of real life flavor, and reveals a simple and indifferent taste in its bones. Walking through it, there is both the detached and distant world, and the warm and appropriate world.
