There are several city walk routes in Shanghai, there is always one for you
Some places can't say exactly where they are good, but they are unforgettable. For me, Shanghai is such a place - it is both the first stop of my trip and the city I have visited the most.
It has both the prosperity of modern cities and the beauty of Jiangnan water towns. High-rise buildings and alleyways shine each other, elegant and lazy coexist. Various seemingly contradictory but harmoniously coexisting elements are breathtaking, and inclusiveness and diversity are the most fascinating places in Magic City.
🌟Classic check-in route
➡️City God Temple-Yuyuan Garden-Bund-Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street
The must-check route for the first time to Shanghai. The "old Shanghai" and the "new era" coexist. Religious buildings, Jiangnan gardens, skyscrapers, snack commercial streets, this route includes them all. If you have time, you can also visit the nearby Shanghai Museum, but the museum has many people during the holidays and needs to be booked in advance.
🌟City walk route
➡️Wukang Road/Yuyuan Road/Hengshan Road/Sweet Love Road/Duolun Road
If you don't want to go to the crowded check-in spots, just find a road to see the plane trees and old houses, and you can occasionally find some special small shops or cafes.
🌟Jiangnan ancient town route
➡️Xinchang Ancient Town/Nanxiang Ancient Town/Fengjing Ancient Town/Zhujiajiao Ancient Town
You don't need to go to Suzhou and Hangzhou, there are small bridges and flowing water in Shanghai. If you go to Xinchang Ancient Town, remember to bring a postcard, the postal code there is 201314.
🌟Second element route
➡️EVA Unit 0/Gundam Statue/Baolian ZX/Meiluo City
Known as China's Akihabara, the city with the highest concentration of the second element in China, arranging a whole day of the second element journey is also a good choice.
🌟Fairy tale route
➡️Disneyland
Disney must arrange a whole day, stay near the park one day in advance, or near the subway station near the park, start early the next day, and prepare to welcome a day of many people and happiness.
🚌Transportation
Buses and subways are very convenient, Alipay, Cloud Flash Pay and WeChat can all open electronic bus cards, or directly download a metropolis app.
🏠Accommodation
It is recommended to stay near People's Square and Nanjing Road, which is convenient for travel and dining, and you can go to the Bund to blow the wind at night.
🍜Food
Fried dumplings and small steamed buns are local snacks, and crayfish are also very good. Some special themed restaurants need to be booked, so you can do some homework in advance.

A movie can hold a scenic spot and it is a lot of trials in China. The "Lust Caution" directed by Ang Lee has won Tang Wei, and also has won a thousand-year-old Jiangnan ancient town - Xinchang Ancient Town in Shanghai. Shanghai people are no strangers to the ancient town of Jiangnan. The index of the index is very good. The ancient towns of Jiangnan, which can be called up, are almost all around Shanghai. Before that, there were only two local old towns in Shanghai that Shanghai people are familiar with. Zhujiajiao and Fengjing, located in Jin. The new town of Pudongs Xinchang has gradually become the third local ancient town familiar to Shanghainese.
Xinchang Ancient Town has been there several times, but this time it feels like the first time I came, I dont know anymore, just like a young girl who grew up into a beautiful and lonely woman, everything They all become more refined. If I still vaguely remember the way I came when I came, I will be amazing.
Xinchang Ancient Town was born of salt and thrives with salt. The ancient town was formed in the Southern Song Dynasty more than 800 years ago. At that time, the Pudong area of Shanghai produced salt and a lot of salt fields. The Xiasha salt field moved south to form this new salt field, named "new field". With the development of the salt industry, it attracted the merchants of salt traders and the population grew sharply. At that time, the Shanggelou wine cellar in Xinchang Town, the merchants gathered, its prosperity has once surpassed the Shanghai County, and has the reputation of Xinchang Ancient Town Suzhou. The ancient town has been re-constructed, the pavement has neat stone slabs, and the houses facing the street are also painted neatly, and the signboard has been uniformly produced.
River2014.
The new town built in the Southern Song Dynasty, has a history of more than 800 years, named after the Xiasha salt field moved south to form a new salt field, hence the name new field , is a salt-producing Jiangnan ancient town due to salt Nowadays, the bustling city has passed away, leaving more than 100 Ming and Qing Dynasties houses of different sizes and more than 20 water bridges. The first time I knew the new town, the film Lust Caution, there is a scene in the new I took a photo of a tea house in the old town of the town. I also went to the new field many years ago to come to the ceremony. Xinchang Ancient Town is quite far from the urban area. Line 16 is sitting at the Xinchang Station. It has to get a car down. It rains when it first goes, and there are almost no tourists. The ancient town is not significant, and it can be finished in less than an hour. After visiting the tea house where you can go to Li An, the first floor tea garden, old-fashioned stairs, carved beams and doors, antique plaques, old wooden chairs, everything seems to return to the Republic of China There are also old telephones, which can still be used It is very suitable for wearing cheongsam, but the photos of friends are not convenient Xinchang Ancient Town Address:... No. 128, Haiquan Street, Xinchang Town, Pudong New Area, Shanghai Transportation: Take Metro Line 11 to Luoshan Road Station, transfer to Metro Line 16 and get off at Xinchang Station After exiting the station, take Bus No. 3, No. 628 and get off at Xinchang Town Bus Station. Walk for a few minutes. That is. You can also take a taxi directly after getting off the subway, start the ride.

Xinchang Ancient Town was formed by the deposition of Yangtze River silt at the estuary supported by the tide, with the beach constantly growing. It was named after the southward relocation of the Xia Sha salt field to form a new salt field, hence the name 'Xinchang'.
Xinchang Ancient Town's main attractions include the Pudong Academician Style Gallery, the Top Ten Scenic Spots of Xinchang Ancient Town, and the First Floor Tea Garden.
The typical architecture of Xinchang Ancient Town mainly consists of multi-entry courtyard-style traditional residences and traditional commercial buildings along the street.
The architectural decoration style features a distinct blend of Chinese and Western elements.

Shanghai Xinchang Ancient Town!
Xinchang Ancient Town is about forty kilometers away from downtown Shanghai, but compared to other ancient towns in Shanghai, it is more peaceful and simple, not overly commercialized, and is a place where you can feel the breath of life in every corner of this southern Chinese ancient town.
Xinchang Ancient Town is not large, consisting mainly of a narrow old street, a few water lanes, and small alleys, which basically make up the entirety of the ancient town. In the town, along the narrow riversides stand the old-style houses with white walls and black tiles. Walking on the stone-paved roads of the old street, crossing the stone arch bridges carved with exquisite patterns, and passing by the time-worn stone archways, you can feel the charm of the years everywhere. There are no shops lining the streets, nor bustling crowds. Apart from snack bars and handicraft shops, you can also find quiet coffee bars, traditional barbershops, and grocery stores, as well as local elderly people sitting by the wall, reading newspapers and basking in the sun.
In recent years, Xinchang Ancient Town has gradually become more well-known, largely due to Director Ang Lee's movie 'Lust, Caution.' The scenes where Tang Wei and Wang Leehom are in the teahouse, and where Tang Wei walks on the bridge, were filmed here. You can also reminisce about the scenes from the movie and feel the atmosphere.
Additionally, it's interesting that the local postal code is '201314'—you should know what that means, right? Remember to buy a local postcard on the old street and get it stamped at the town's post office!
Xinchang Ancient Town is a great place for a family weekend outing, to slow down the pace of life and enjoy your own leisurely time!

The ancient town of Xinchang, with its unique charm, has a history of eight to nine hundred years since it was established in the Southern Song Dynasty
It became a 3A tourist attraction after its development was completed five years ago, and I had never been there until the day before yesterday. It was even better than expected—
👉🏻 Xinchang Ancient Town 📍128 Haiquan Street, Pudong New District
⏰ Open all day 🎟️ Free admission
🚉 Although the transportation here is not very convenient, as the subway does not reach directly, the scenery is no different from other ancient towns in the surrounding area. Surprisingly, there are still so many people here on weekdays. One of the reasons must be the unique snacks available here.
🥟 For a foodie, the scenery is far less important than delicious food, even though most of the food here is also available in other ancient towns: Begonia cakes, zongzi, various pastries... But the chicken soup tofu is the best I've ever tasted, so fresh and delicious, I will come back next time to try the chicken soup wontons.
💰 Since the demolition of Zhaojia Tower, many businesses have moved here, making it even more lively. And the prices are slightly cheaper compared to Qibao Ancient Town.
💮 The local residents of the ancient town are so enthusiastic. When I asked them for directions, three people warmly pointed the way, which was so heartwarming❤️

With a single phrase, 'Spring is not late,' I find myself truly in the south of the Yangtze
Xinchang, historically prosperous due to salt, is now one of the few ancient towns in Shanghai, quietly nestled in its own corner. A single Xinchang Street runs through the entire ancient town, but it is divided into North Street and South Street by a horizontal road. The commercial activities are mainly concentrated in the north, where most tourists gather, while the southern part is more original. At the end of South Street, there is a Nanshan Temple said to be 600 years old, but judging by the building itself, it must have been newly constructed in recent years. Besides the central old street, the more interesting part of the ancient town is the leisure street along the river. The further you go, the fewer tourists there are, and it is very peaceful.
The most famous building in the ancient town is the No.1 Teahouse. Many films and TV dramas have been shot here, among which 'Lust, Caution' is the most well-known. The scene between Tony Leung and Tang Wei was filmed on the second floor of this riverside teahouse. Now, you can also sit in the seats where the two stars once sat, lean against the window, order a pot of clear tea, and leisurely watch the comings and goings on the bridge below. If you encounter a rainy day, the atmosphere is even more enchanting. Chicken broth tofu, yellow croaker wontons, and peach blossom pastries are specialties of the teahouse. A bowl of chicken broth tofu is substantial, but the taste is not particularly outstanding; what you pay for here is the environment. It is worth mentioning that the postal code of Xinchang ancient town is 201314, which has a beautiful implication. You can buy a postcard on the first floor and send it to your loved one; the mailbox is just 50 meters outside the door.
For those who like coffee, there is a good place called One Foot Garden, located on the edge of the ancient town. The interior mostly uses original wood-colored tables, chairs, and cabinets, with warm light from small lamps, and large green plants everywhere, creating a cozy atmosphere. Perhaps to meet the needs of customers who hold events, in addition to private rooms, there is even a separate projection room. If you prefer outdoor seating, you can also sit in the courtyard's atrium. Around mealtime, there are many restaurants in the ancient town, most of which offer similar farmhouse dishes. Soup pork skin, white-cut chicken, steamed three delicacies, goose liver, and so on, are almost standard in every restaurant, but there are slight differences in taste due to the different chefs' techniques. Shiwu Xuan is a good choice, especially their pork skin, which is very delicious.
Before leaving the ancient town, you can also buy some local specialties, such as grass head cakes, large meat zongzi, shumai, and salted meat, which are quite popular with tourists. Compared to these, it feels more genuine to buy fresh vegetables like fava beans sold by farmers along the street.
Transportation: Line 16 has already opened Xinchang Station, but it is still about 3 kilometers away from the ancient town.
Tickets: There is no admission fee for the ancient town, but some memorial halls in the town require tickets.

Xinchang Ancient Town in Pudong | Surprisingly, there is a thousand-year history
【About Xinchang Ancient Town】
The first time I visited Xinchang, I didn't expect to find such a large-scale ancient town in Pudong, which was somewhat unexpected. Some ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River were born out of rice transportation, such as Jinze in Qingpu, Shanghai, and Cangcheng in Songjiang. Others were born out of brick-making, like Ganyao Town in Jiashan County. The formation of Xinchang Ancient Town is somewhat different; it originated from salt production. During the Song Dynasty, the Nanhui Xia Sha salt fields moved south to form new salt fields, hence the name 'Xinchang', which means 'new field'. Since the Song Dynasty, this place has gradually become a residence for salt workers, a production site, and a trading spot for goods.
–
Having visited many ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, one might feel that they all look the same. I recall a saying by a mogul that resonates with me, 'Today's ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River are all too similar, generally sharing the same commercialized appearance. However, the centuries of accumulation have given each old street its own soul. Beneath the seemingly identical facades lie vastly different experiences and personalities. What is truly lacking might be the patience and time to appreciate them in detail.'
–
【Highlights of Xinchang Ancient Town】
The main street of the ancient town runs north to south in a narrow and long shape, about 2 kilometers long, with the ground entirely paved with bluestone slabs, and mostly shops on both sides. The 'Three Generations, Two Ranks' archway in the middle of the old street marks the boundary; to the north, the commercial area is denser, with various small shops closely packed together. To the south, the commercial area is relatively sparse, with the southernmost end being the Nanshan Ancient Temple, which houses two 700-year-old ginkgo trees.
–
In addition, there are many ancient residential buildings in the town, with more than 20 three-section courtyards and 68 Yi gates, worth exploring. A few notable large houses include:
① Xi's Hall
A sizable Qing Dynasty old house with a blend of Chinese and Western styles, it was the residence of the owner of the 'Xi Changsheng' pharmacy during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Address: Lane 122, Hongdong Street
② Zheng's Mansion
Upon entering, one is amazed by the grandeur of the large mansion, which is four stories high. It is the tallest and largest building among all the ancient buildings in Xinchang Town. Currently renovated, the first floor is a legal exhibition park, which can be visited for free.
Address: No. 199, Xinchang Street
③ Zhang's Mansion
Zhang's Mansion was originally built in the mid-Qing Dynasty and was the ancestral home of Zhang Xinchang, a wealthy man in Xinchang. It is still inhabited by Zhang's descendants.
Address: No. 303, Xinchang Street

Address: No. 128, Haiquan Street, Xinchang Town, Pudong New District
Ticket: Free admission to the ancient town. Exhibition hall 18 yuan/person
Transportation: Drive to Xinchang Ancient Town parking lot. Metro Line 16 Xinchang Station, 2.3 kilometers away from the ancient town

Shanghai Pudong - Coming to the ancient town is all about eating and strolling
Shanghai Pudong New Area's Xinchang Ancient Town, named after the relocation of the salt field south of Xiasha Salt Field, hence the name 'Xinchang'; it takes about 2 hours to drive from the city center.
For foodies, going to the ancient town is all about one word - eat.
Having been to too many similar man-made ancient towns, I didn't have high expectations; but the scenery of Xinchang Ancient Town exceeded expectations.
Strolling along the main road, in addition to various snack stalls on both sides, you will encounter several small bridges and streams, and the traditional style residential buildings along the shore in the sunset exude a strong ancient town atmosphere.
There are many snack stalls, old Shanghai scallion pancakes cost 6 yuan each, taste good; 5 yuan radish shredded oil cake and old street soup dumplings taste average, recommend 10 yuan bowl of chicken soup tofu and 25 yuan bottle of handmade beef hot sauce, very delicious.
There are many restaurants by the small river, the prices are not very cheap, not suitable for two people to eat, did not try.
Address: No. 128 Haiquan Street, Pudong New Area, Shanghai
Admission: Free

Parking: 10 yuan/hour (until 20:00) .

Rural Watertown near Shanghai
Perfect day trip from Shanghai, smaller then the well known Zhujiajiao, but more authentic. We visited during the Lunar New Year Holiday and people were buying all kinds of foods for the festivities.
There is one big shopping street were you can buy different local specialities like salted pork and a special kind of dumplings.
It also has an art street and a promenade next to the canal with many restaurants.
We also spotted a lot of cute coffee shops (closed due to the holidays)
Definitely worth the visit if you have a free day in Shanghai!
Getting There - take the line 16 and get off at Xinchang metro station. Take exit 1 and take the 1068 bus.

Travel guide to Shanghai Xinchang Ancient Town
Xinchang area was originally the south field of the Xia Sha salt field, which was a place where salt farmers used sea water to sun-dry salt. As the beach gradually extended, the salt field gradually became a place for salt farmers to live and exchange goods. Its prosperity once surpassed Shanghai County, and it was known as "Xinchang Ancient Town surpasses Suzhou", and it was the largest town on the Pudong Plain at that time. Later, due to changes in the salt field and wars, it experienced several ups and downs, but Xinchang Town is still a very cultural Jiangnan water town. The narrow river that runs through the ancient town of Xinchang, the exquisitely carved stone arch bridges, the houses built by the water, the high stone revetments, and the saddle-shaped water bridges of the houses along the river are very charming. 1. Come to Xinchang to enjoy peach blossoms and taste delicious food
Every year in April and May when the peach blossoms are in full bloom, you can also go to Xinchang Taoyuan located to the west of Xinchang Town and Hunan Highway to enjoy the peach blossoms. At noon, you might as well go to the restaurant in the peach garden to taste the "old eight dishes" and experience the deliciousness of farmhouse dishes. Nanhui "old eight dishes" is a very characteristic farmhouse dish in Nanhui, including three yellow chickens, oily meat, trotters, salted meat, braised duck, black fish, meat skin soup and melon pancakes, and the rice is salty and sour rice (vegetable rice).
2. Follow the movie "Lust, Caution" to find the old days
The trend of "Lust, Caution" spread from the cinema to the shooting location. Many viewers who have watched the movie have the impulse to see the shooting location in the play, and follow the movie to experience the atmosphere of "Lust, Caution". After seeing the location, if you are still very "into the play", you might as well go to the Hongfu Bridge to have a cup of tea at the Qingfeng First Teahouse to calm down. The old teahouse has a three-story antique floor. You only need to spend a few yuan to chat, eat melon seeds, and drink tea. There is also a storyteller on the first floor. With a folding fan and a wake-up wood, "The book continues..." With the breeze and the setting sun, it is another good time.

🏃♀️Having visited all the ancient towns in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, they all seem the same yet different. There were quite a lot of people over the weekend. If you don't want to go to the crowded shops with kids, you can choose to run and play in the quiet alleys, which is very comfortable.
⭐️Recommend Impression Dali, the riverside corridor, beautiful scenery with few people, the top of the corridor is full of wishing cards, no matter where and what situation, whether old or young, they have left blessings for themselves or the people they care about.
⭐️Although it is a scenic area, the consumption is not high. Freshly squeezed sugarcane juice is 5 yuan a cup, roasted gluten is 10 yuan for three skewers, and there are many local residents selling their own vegetables, which is quite cost-effective. I didn't see any overcharging.
📺Nothing But Thirty, the filming location of Wang Manni's hometown, seems to have made more people see Xinchang Ancient Town. The ancient town is not big, apart from the crowded streets with many shops, many alleys are empty. Walking slowly in the corridor, the dark green tiles, the waterside corridor, the curling cooking smoke, quietly feeling the fireworks of the small town!

Suburbs of Shanghai - Xinchang Ancient Town
There are many ancient towns around Shanghai, but they are all relatively small in scale, which is quite suitable for weekend outings without plans.
The ancient town of Xinchang in Pudong is very close to Shaojialou, which is the best place to go together. But recently, Shaojialou seems to be upgrading, and you may be turned away.
Now there are a lot of One Foot Gardens combined with many small and popular ancient towns, you can also go to see according to their location.
The Xinchang Ancient Town I went to at that time was also selected with One Foot Garden. As a result, when I got there, I found that there were all people, and I had to wait for a seat so I gave up. Maybe it's because it's hard to wait for a sunny day☀️, there are more people.
Here is quite similar to many small and popular ancient towns in Shanghai, it's also good to eat some fresh fish along the way.

Xinchang Ancient Town is the shooting place of Li An's "Lust Caution". It is called "Small New Field Game Suzhou". The elements of the ancient town are all here, but because of the late development, the commercial atmosphere is not very strong. There is the most original ancient town atmosphere, which may be a very attractive feature of Xinchang Ancient Town.

As soon as you mention the ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, people will immediately think of Wuzhen, Zhouzhuang and Zhujiajiao. These towns have always been the beauty of the Jiangnan water town that tourists have dreamed of. In addition to these people, Jiewenhao and cultural monuments are well-known in the Jiangnan ancient town at home and abroad, there is also a little-known ancient town of Jiangnan water town, which is located in Xinchang Ancient Town of Shanghai Nanhui.
The new town of Xinchang, with a history of thousands of years, is the last virgin land in the style of Shanghai. There are rows of flats or small buildings built on the riverside, with powder walls and slabs. There are narrow and deep alleys everywhere, stone-built arch bridges, curved bridges, covered bridges, and occasional boat swaying. A building in the center of the ancient town, just under the bridge, is the first tea house in Jiangnan. Walking through its wooden ladders and covered bridges, you can see the beautiful scenery of Jiangnan by the river; in the misty morning, the women wash their clothes in the Xiaohetou, and laugh loudly; when they eat, people like to put some in the rice bowl. Then I chatted with my neighbors; when the family came, the neighbors would send tables and stools; the old people would play peacefully, and the children would concentrate on practicing the brushwork, and the melodious sounds of the piano and the opera would be heard from time to time in the deep lane. . . . . .
Blue Tulip.
People who like history always want to know what happened in the past, what is the truth of history, but often they can only sigh, because there is no past, they have not seen the glory of those people. In "Color and Caution", Wang Jiazhi and Mr. Yi walked in the old town of Xinchang, and I came here, walking the road they had walked, watching Fanghua in their eyes, and wanting to reminisce like a water year.
What else is waiting for you to discover?
Ancient house deep alley.
There are delicious foods I have seen since childhood.
is hard to find now.
For example, this hawthorn cake, sweet and sour appetizer.
There is this sweet Milo, looking very much like sugar cane, and now only relatives living in the country can bring me.
The city can't buy it.
There are also fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits in the town.
The children playing on the street remind me of the hour's alley.

The famous and remaining stone arch bridges in Xinchang Ancient Town include: Hongfu Bridge, Qianqiu Bridge, Baihu Bridge, Yanghui Bridge, Yuhuangge Bridge, Yongning Bridge and Shengjia Bridge.
Hongfu Bridge is the "first floor of Jiangnan", which is located in the downtown area of the new stadium. Built by Hongfu Bridge, it is a three-storey wooden structure: the first floor is an ordinary tea house, which was built in the end of the Qing Dynasty in Tongzhi; the second floor is a bookstore and a high-end tea house, often with folk storytelling from all over the world. The Pingtan artists performed here, and every time a famous book came, the boat and the boat gathered together and listened to guests. The third floor is the stack house for the rest of the guests.
But its not always there to watch the show time.
From here, the view of the ancient town is the best.
Looking at the fence, you can see the narrow river channel that the town of Xinchang has worn through the town, the exquisite stone arch bridge, the dwellings built by the water, the stone barge of the high base, and the houses along the river. Saddle-shaped water bridge.
The place where the county is located is the Qinglong Baihu Bridge. Although the county is not in the Baihu Bridge, the Qinglong Bridge can still be seen.

Jiangnan Water Town, Xiaoqiao Liushui people can not be lacking, but Pudong's Xinchang Ancient Town, more authentic, no strong commercial atmosphere, just waiting for you quietly. Walking through the ancient bridges with treasures, passing through all the streets and lanes, tasting the local specialties, and occasionally pushing the door, the halls are arranged as if they were the same, as if the new bridegroom waited for the good guys to return.
Here is the location of the color ring, you can come here to find the feeling in the movie.

Pudong's Xinchang Ancient Town is not a new network red. The ancient town has been established for more than 800 years, and an ancient town born of salt is quiet and comfortable. A good choice for weekend family trips, you can go back and forth that day.

#What is the highlight of Xinchang Ancient Town? #
The essence of the ancient town is near Hongfu Bridge. It is the most prosperous place in the ancient town. The movie "Lust Caution" filmed by the famous director Ang Lee is here. The only scene of the filming of Liang Chaowei and Tang is on the edge of Hongfu Bridge. "The first floor of Jiangnan." Since then, the new field has become the heart of the big director's heart, such as the hot movie "The Ferry Man", the later "My Goddess My Mother", "Because I Meet You", "August", the popular TV series "National Life" is taken here, and luck is not necessarily tempted by a scout to make a movie.
