Next to the Xuanhua Museum (west side), on Xuanfu Street, there is a beautiful church, which is the Catholic Church. It adopts a Gothic design and looks quite unique. Today, Xuanhua Catholic Church is the Bishop's General Hall of Xuanhua Diocese. The church was built in the year of the Qing Dynasty (1869 AD) and was presided over by Father Yu Guoliang. After Eljul took over the church in the 11th year of the Tongzhi Dynasty (1872 AD), the entire construction of the church was completed. In the five years of the Guangxu period (1879 AD), Father Dushiliang expanded the church. Guangxu 26 (AD 1900) July the church was burned by the Boxer. Guangxu 30 years (AD 1904), with a dumpling compensation of 10,000 silver to rebuild the Xuanhua lobby. The construction area is 810 square meters, and the bell tower is 33 meters high. The overall layout is cross-shaped, brick, wood and blue stone structure. There are three altars in the north of the church, the front is the main altar, and there are two altars of the Virgin Mary and Joseph on both sides. There are railings under the altar. From the main entrance of the lobby, 16 gray stone pillars stand on both sides. The length from the gate to the railing is 37 meters. The roof iron is like a heron, the stone pillars to the roof are all made of four stone arches, and the roof of the hall is curved and synthesized from wooden boards. There are three doors on the front of the lobby. The east and west sides of the altar are dressing rooms, each with a door. In the 1980s, the church was repaired significantly. It was renovated in 2005 and looks like it is today.
