The wind is strong and the scenery is beautiful. It is a natural scene formed after volcanic eruption. It is a vertical joint in basalt lava. Most of the joints are polygonal (usually five or hexagonal). It is the result of magma ejecting from the crater and flowing into the coast of Xiguipu, which is rapidly cooled by sea water and contracted. The columnar joints here are as high as 30-40 meters and about 1000 meters wide, the largest in Korea.
