The Damascus Gate is an important gate of the Old City of Jerusalem, as if also known as the Gate of Shechem or the Gate of Nablus, located on the north side of the Old City of Jerusalem, on the edge of the Arab Market. Originally built during the Second Temple period, the existing gates were built by Suleiman the Great of the Ottoman Empire in 1542
